Man did your video save me some money. Your video is the only video that actually shows where the fill plug is. Mechanic told me he'd charge me $130 just to add some transmission fluid to my daughter's Lexus. Me and my daughter did this together in 10mins.
If you are early on the change for the first time then you could do this. If you are late foing this, drain and drop the pan - replacing the gasket and filter if necessary. This ensures that you clean out ALL of the contaminants in the pan and resealing the gasket fitting - while filling only once. You fon’t want your gasket to start leaking and have to go down there again.
Question. If I'm unsure on how much transmission fluid is in my transmission can I fill it until it starts coming out the fill hole and then just perform the warm-up procedure and drain plug until it trickles down?
yesterday i drained transmission fluid on my 2008 Lexus IS250 rwd after i pumped total 4 quarts of fully synthetic atf valvoline, i change it every year, car runs smooth like butter i drive it very hard
I have a 2006 is250 AWD and reading around it says rear differential is 75w85 and front 80w90 , I’m confused about the from because I though I would only have to put in transmission fluid Toyota ATF-WS , so are there two differential transmission oils up front ? Thanks
I'd like to do this maintenance to my 2IS, but once the fluid in the transmission is 95 - 115 F. Does the temperature of the new ATF going in matter? I seem to be stuck at this and want to get my research right before I go in blindfolded.
Ive never seen a lexus require full operating temp. It typically required the fluid tenp to be 113 to 130 degrees. Im pretty sure you are under filled based on what you did in the video.
My 2008 is250 kicks when down shifting at high speeds, (for instance) going around 60-70 then punch the gas, it’ll kick instead of taking off. Anyone know why? I’m thinking it’s the transmission fluid because It appears to be leaking
I have a 2009 Lexus IS250, with 200k miles, sometimes I accelerate quicker than usual to lets say 60 mph and start smelling something burning coming from the engine. Would this be a transmission fluid matter or something else?
From what I can't tell this is fairly common on this car It's usually your catalytic converter or the vent on your passenger side in the rear behind yor fender lining is broken
@@yuhyuh5012yep this is the answer. Either buy new vents because the rubbers perish or shrink, otherwise get some wide tape and tape up the left and right vents
What’s up bro. Would you recommend adding Lucas Transmission Oil Additive to my 2006 Lexus Is250 Automatic Transmission. It doesn’t shift hard or any super bad problems. I’ve just noticed it sometimes take a while to shift. Like laggy. Or should a simple oil n filter change should be sufficient?
@@BuiltForSpeed thanks. I try n drive like a grandma to get better gas mileage lol But yea the car has roughly 150k miles. If I keep it a while I’ll try n do the change every two years or so.
I picked up a 2006 is250 AWD at 190,000 and now 230,000. It was great for almost a year, now I have 2 big issues, lots of WHITE SMOKE coming out of tail pipe and no power OR doesn't accelerate when I put it on drive and can only go maximum 10-15mph, luckily I was a mile away from home. Do you think it's transmission oil for slipping transmission and too much engine oil (this i make sure i always not low in engine oil)? Thank you sir
White smoke from exhaust can be coolant leak into combustion chamber aka head gaskets. I have a 07 250 rwd with 201k miles and it’s running fine. I had it since 35k miles tho and did all the maintenance. I wouldn’t ever buy a high mileage car only low miles used if you plan on keeping it for a while.
@@BuiltForSpeed Thanks for the reply. It's just that we in London and so many bumps. Sometimes really need to slow it down it goes to 1st don't like that.
My 2006 is250 has a code that says “shift solenoid C performance/ stuck off” I’ve asked people and I’ve gotten responses from just change your fluid, change the valve body all the way too replace the entire transmission what should I do?
I mean if you are just going based on the codes just buy the one solenoid. But if your fluid is old might as well change it as well but the changing fluid will not fix that solenoid it's already burned out.
Hi Thanks heaps for this - would you show (next time you have to get the car up) where to lift the car with the trolley jack & where to position the jack stands Thanks - from 'overseas'
Overfill will cause the transmission to foam up and overheat. And could blow seals out. Underfill will cause hard shifting and risk of damaging transmission
@@BuiltForSpeed Asking because I changed oil and filter some time ago and wanted to maybe do just a drain refill but “the easy” way. Nothing wrong with trans
I actually use a leveler like those used in construction and put it in the middle of the car right on top of the sun roof and if is leveled you're good to go.

If I drop the pan and change the transmission filter and gaskets how much quarts will I need ?
About same as drain and fill maybe +/- 1qt
The cork gasket causes the gasket to leak and to go out every 5 years.

Lexus says temperature should be 104-114 degrees. If yours is this hot it will expand and drain too much. Correct?
You need to warm it up to that temp atleast to set level. All excess fluid will drain out when it starts to trickle slowly close the level plug.
after you level it out for the past time...do you put the 3+ qrts. trans fluid...and LEAVE it....
or LEVEL it out one more time...please.🫡✌🏾
Once the level is set you leave it after it gets up to temp.

Hi, how much oil should I put in my 2006 Lexus IS250 transmission?
My 2007 Lexus is 250 has 168k miles. Do I should change Trans... Oil?
Definitely should of already 2 times.
I would recommend breaking loose the fill plug before draining
Any idea what exactly happens if you over fill or under fill?
Overfill will cause the transmission to foam up and overheat. And could blow seals out.
Underfill will cause hard shifting and risk of damaging transmission
what if you just fill as much as you drained ?
That would be a little risky because you never know if your transmission was low on oil

Easy way just fill it with like 4qts drive it around the block come back put the car on jack stands and open the level plug.
