The ambassador hit the nail on the head with that simple comment: "I encourage you, especially at a younger age, to live abroad. You will get to see your country from different perspective." This is so important because I grew up thinking my country was the greatest in the world. We worked with an organization that sponsored French students to come to America, live with an American family for a month and get an American experience. I think my family got as much out of it as the French student did at being in America. It definitly helped my daughter with her French and aside from a lasting friendship it fostered a new idea of living abroad that my daughter is very interested in. I only see learning other languages and cultures as a good thing to open the world to everyone. Love this channel and others that show how open and inviting other people and cultures are. Wow! he's officially become a world reporter of many cultures! He not only learns and speaks many languages, but now he has shown an ability to interact with world leaders and to show the world online something about the cultures that they represent. For years I've watched his videos and all are fascinating instructive informative and entertaining to watch. You learn quite a lot about language, people, culture and food. In this video he seems so calm and cool, just being his true self before world leaders who appear to like him a lot. He is not just interviewing them but making long lasting connections with each of these powerful political figures. he is also bringing to life their personalities. I believe that people around the world know very little about these important political figures, but now thanks to videos like this one, the world can learn and discover more about them. At times the video was also very funny, bringing a smile to your face as you laugh with the world leaders who also laugh and enjoy their meeting with him. Politics should be more about friendships building strong human relations between various participating nations that would allow for greater communications, progress and peace. The world needs more peace, and, the online world needs to see more videos like this one in the future. So i think it is proper to declare our interviewer a world peacemaker. Many of the comments here reveal just how many persons are excited and happy and glad that he shares their cultural values and languages online. People love to see their nation culture peoples and language being represented in these videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks to everyone and all the companies that made this video possible. Thanks and Happiness

My senior year of high school I was an exchange student in France for a semester. The experience was worth the time being away from friends and family. I came away not only fluent in French, but having a greater understanding of how the world sees the United States.

I think what the United States Secretary of State said is something I can certainly agree on and have some unusual experience with. I am someone who doesn't really have a 'home country'; of course, there is the country I was born in--New Zealand--but, and I am about to move back there for university, I haven't lived in New Zealand since I was two years old.
I lived in Australia as a young child, starting primary/elementary school there, but moving to Wales in the United Kingdom for Year 3. Wales is probably the closest to a home country I have, but at the same time, I don't have a Welsh accent, I wasn't born in Wales, my family isn't from Wales. I did end up gaining UK citizenship when I entered secondary/high school in Wales, so I am now a citizen of both New Zealand and the UK.
When I was 13, my family moved to the United Arab Emirates. I have to say that this was unfortunately not a good experience for me at all, however--I felt extremely isolated and was bullied heavily at school, and as an LGBTQ+ person I felt very unsafe living there (though it was a very _physically_ safe place to live).
After finishing school in the UAE, I went back to the UK for a foundation year at university, and intended to go into my bachelor's degree there in Wales (in the same city I had previously lived in).
Unfortunately, the UK has legislation which means that _anyone_ who has been outside of the UK for 3 years or more prior to beginning university is counted as an international student and must pay international fees and is not eligible for student loans, whether they have lived there, gone to school there, are a citizen (or even born there), or not. My family can't continue to pay the international fees of around 20 000 GBP per year, so I must move to New Zealand for university, where the fees will be free the first year and only about 4 500 GBP per year after that.
I'm not sure where I will live after university. I think one thing for sure is that I do not feel tied to any particular country: I will live wherever in the world I can live and I feel is best for me at any given time. I think at the moment, if I don't feel that I have good enough reason to stay in New Zealand after university (I would be looking at things like stability of the economy and job market, relationships I might have there at that time, places to live and, especially for me, their beauty, and activities available), I might be looking at trying to move to Canada after university and to get a job there. Canada is a very beautiful place, close in beauty to New Zealand, and generally has better job opportunities than New Zealand. It is also a much larger country, one of the biggest in the world, and as someone who would like to travel, that is quite appealing. My aim would be to acquire citizenship in Canada much as I did in the UK after living there long enough. I think having multiple citizenships is a very good thing in that you always have multiple countries which you are immediately allowed to live in should something happen in the country that you are living in which means it's no longer the best country for you.
One of the most important factors for me is trans rights, and I feel that Canada and New Zealand are two of the best places in the world for trans people at the moment. The United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom (and the United States as well, just to mention the other 'United' country, though I have never [and will never] lived there) are... certainly not great for trans people at the moment.

I'm a mixed who can speak Japanese and English - the languages I have spoken since my birth, German from conversing with my grandfather on my dad's side, Korean from picking up as an adult, and though I forgot a great deal, still understand Mandarin Chinese from living in Malaysia for about 3-4 years in my youth. I agree with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken; learning new languages is basically making new friends who speak the language, and know the culture firsthand with interaction, wherever it maybe, as there are communities in many developed countries to practice in, just like Xiaoma does in his videos. I'm already nearing 40 years old and have my own kids (speaks English and Japanese at home), and at a point in my life where if I was to give an advice to youth and fresh grads, learn and master at least one language and if it's possible, live in the country. Don't need to be at super native level, just good enough to carry a decent conversation would be fine.
