Its not going to happen for two reasons. The first reason is Americans ruin every movie they get the rights to. Second is that Go Nagi isn’t going to sell the rights to someone who will fundamentally change everything about Gaiking.

Gaiking is one of what I call, the Founders of Mecha. Gaiking was one of the many giant robot ainmes to come out of Japan in what would be Animes equivalent of the Golden Age of Comics. Ones that also came out around this time where Getter Robo, Mazinger Z (sorry if I miss spelled it) UFO Robot Grendizer, and other popular Super Robots. These anime defined the Mecha franchise, and are a standard even today. Its going to be awesome to see if others get made.
Damn. What a trailer. I haven't seen Gaiking since the early 1980s when cable played the animated movie. Now a live version? Great. Bring it to U.S. theaters.

As far as I can gather from researching this it was supposed to be released 2011 or 2012 by Valhalla entertainment and toei, it was in production but I think either money or production was a problem and this was like a teaser for one of the pilots. Again I just think it wasn't working and they cancelled production it stopped with no press talk or anything. I believe they still want to make it along with an adaptation of Tiger and Bunny.

Transformers is a toy line that is split off from the Diaclone and Microman franchise in 1984.
Demon Dragon of the Heavens Gaiking is a Toei Animation TV series that came out in 1976.

Been waiting for this movie since this trailer
2 years ago since the last time I saw this trailer and really pumped and hyped. But it never come to realization. I guess Nagai and Toei is still fighting for the rights of Gaiking franchise.
If you want to see a movie like this, then go watch Pacific Rim.
It has all the robotaction you could hope for. Simply amazing movie.
I spent 15$ on a ticket, and i'm gonna go watch it one more time.

@Dreez76 Well first, the horned heads of giant Japanese robots are a throwback to the ancient samurai. Most of them wore helmets with various types of horned designs. The Japanese anime/film makers are just keeping elements of their culture in heir works.
As for the sitting pilot thing, I agree with you. I've always wondered why the pilot is sitting when they should be in an apparatus that allows the robot to mimic their movements. I saw something like this in Robo Jocks, came out back in '90.

It has giant horns because the dragon head on his chest belongs to the "space dragon", a mobile base. The dragon's horns are connected to the Gaiking robot's head, which pops out.

I remember that cartoon when I was a kid ...=O a movie
This was just a proof of concepts made by Toei Animation back in 2010. Production of the movie wasn't confirmed as far as I know. In 2010, Toei Animation also made another proof of concepts for Space Pirate Captain Harlock which will be coming out fall 2013. So there's hope that Gaiking is in production.
Arcee. That is, the three motorbikes you see ready to go at the beginning of the second movie. According to the data available to the public, she was supposed to combine into a single Autobot. Yeah, right... two of the three 'bikes get crushed at the beginning of the movie, so the only thing Arcee can do with the remaining third is turn into a mono-wheeled whatsit with even less lines than Bumblebee.

@ozulu45 Yeah, I use to love watching these big robots on Saturdays. They use to play them early in the morning like 6am and I'll be up just to watch it back in the early 80's. Love GAIKING, Danguard Ace, Star Vengers, and Grand Dizer.

this particular mecha is older then most you are probably familar with.
Gaiking originaly came out in 1976, its a "retro" super robot featuring
a drasticly different design aesthetic compared to most contemporary mecha.
its in the same family of mecha as Getter Robo, Mazinger, Grandizer and some others.
if you actualy seen the originals you may not care for the designs, as these are really quite old.

Gaiking is an old japanese composable robot series back from the 70s; to understand better the reason of the size of it's horns and dragon face on it's chest, just google any of this cartoon's episodes. :-)

Gaiking (1976) was an old robot anime.
What about this is so difficult to comprehend? robot comes out of the ground, pilot reveals her face, this ain't like, Super Rocket Science, y'know.
