Luma fsmash would have actually killed Nick there so he doesn't clean sweep, but Vernias grabbed him afterward, so Nick doesn't die. Luma fsmash duration is extended by hitting Nick, now hitting Vernias and killing him instead.

@papyrusty368 consider the following: sidequest and party crashers both upload a video called "everyone's not here" and it's just the other channel's people (so sidequest on party crashers and the other way around)

Yeah, had to slowmo’d the hell out of it, but Vernias just drifted into the spike and imploded, so Nick technically didn’t do anything to get that win.

There’s so many things to comment about this video, but the major one I wanna point out is how Brent and Nick only won this mode of smash they have is by one of them not being in the video.
Their rivalry is what makes a video 20 minutes long.

He's always been good, in two of these smash videos Nick dominated and had a good lead but then brent made deals with with sophist/vernias just so he wouldn’t win, but with brent gone, sophist and vern working together 🤡, and twelve minutes of the video, the stars were aligned.
Nick is gone = Vernias suffers
Eevee is gone = Vernias suffers
Brent is gone = Vernias suffers
I see a pattern. Vernias just suffers no matter what. It's his dynamic in the group. He's the one fated to suffer. Brent is the tryhard, skillful player; Nick is the toxic, spike player; Eevee is the chaotic, unlucky player; Vernias is the bullied and depressed player.
