  • This is a quick guide to the Halberstadt D2, a German single-seater biplane fighter of World War 1 that saw service from roughly the end of the Fokker Scourge, until early 1917. It has the distinction of being Germany’s first biplane fighter.

You know what's funny? I live in Halberstadt, but until yesterday I didn't know that they built planes here

Glad you enjoyed it. Strangely this particular video has been found in a playlist specifically about the town of Halberstadt.

It shows an unfortunate bias in kit makers that they will proudly make both 1/72 and 1/32 scale models of the quirky pusher DH 2, but nothing for its same period counterpart, the Halberstadt D.2.

6:10 Jagd is not pronounced 'jag'. It is pronounced 'yahg'. In German, the letter j is always and without exception pronounced like an English y. If your pronunciation reflects what you were taught in Carinthia, the people who taught you did not speak German.
    Other than that, good work.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. Wait until you hear my Japanese and Serbian pronunciation. That's really terrible, I think.
