Pfalz E.I

The Pfalz E.I was a German, single-seat monoplane fighter contemporaneous with the Fokker Eindecker, which it closely resembles. In fact both share a common ancestor in the Morane-Saulnier Type H. It saw relatively limited service during the Fokker Scourge, and is generally regarded as not being quite as good as the Fokker, though this is somewhat of a questionable opinion. Like the Fokker, it was quite obsolete by mid-1916, but continued to see service in other arenas, and as a trainer.

You just said, "Like the monoplanes, the Pfalz monoplanes . . . ."
Not all Fokkers were Eindekkers. Not all Eindekkers were Fokkers. When you speak of Eindekkers, you must qualify the type with the make; that is, Fokker Eindekker and Pfalz Eindekker. Technically, all the Taube airplanes may be designated Eindekker. Thus, Etrich Eindekker, Albatros Eindekker, Aviatik Eindekker, DFW Eindekker, usw.
eindekker (one wing) = monoplane Pfalz E.I = Pfalz Eindekker I
doppeldekker (double (two) wing) = biplane Fokker D.VII = Fokker Doppeldekker VII (Late in the war this changed when Idflieg designated all fighters as D models. Thus, the Fokker E.V became the Fokker D.VIII.)
dreidekker (three wing) = triplane Fokker Dr.I = Fokker Dreidekker I (Albatros and Pfalz also built Dreidekkers. All were number Dr.I. I have found no evidence that there was ever a Dr.II made by anybody.)

It’s still an Eindekker, which just means monoplane.
