I wish they could have had more actors from Happy Days on Match Game, like Donny Most, or Marion Ross, or Ron Howard, or even Henry Winkler, that would have been cool to have had the Fonz on Match Game
In 1975, Cincinnati baseball was on FIRE! The Cincinnati Reds were known as "The Big Red Machine". During that time we had such legendary players as Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, and other all-time greats. The team was headed up by the immortal Sparky Anderson. Those were the glory days of baseball in the Queen City.
I think this MG episode aired in March 1975, prior to the 1975 baseball season when the Reds winning an impressive 108 games. But even before the 1975 season the Reds were well known and were often in the thick of a pennant race; but in 1974 they had finished second in their division. According to Wikipedia: In 1975 the Reds had gotten off to a slow start; and it wasn't until May 1975when manager Sparky Anderson added outfielder George Foster's big bat to the line-up and moved Pete Rose from the outfield to third base, that the team really took off and never looked back, winning 108 games, their division, and ultimately the '75 World Series. P.S. As a Mets fan I hated the Reds and was glad the Mets beat 'em in '73 for the NL pennant...but I've got to admit the '70s Reds were a great, exciting team stacked with talent.
I remember Larry Bowa passing a bewildered Pete Rose at 3rd, after hitting a rare grand slam home run. 1977. I still can't talk about the 1976 NL playoffs...
Richard scores his 75th H/H match. A brand-new week, but it's starting off like most other weeks, with Richard chosen both times. The second contestant is undoubtedly much happier than the first... Regulars Brett and Richard are joined by Gary and frequent semi-regular Fannie, both of whom have excellent track records in the H/H match (but that's no guarantee a contestant will choose them as we see today). Meredith MacRae returns and has a chance to finally get her H/H match (she had one attempt a while back), and we have "new kid on the block" Tom Bosley as this week's wild card... Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 80% (4 wins in 5 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50% (15 wins in 30 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50% (7 wins in 14 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 35.5% (75 wins in 211 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 421, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
@@Trefoile, that's right, the lovely Meredith MacRae- I believe Florence Henderson, at some point, probably lobbied Sherwood Schwartz to get Meredith a guest starring role on The Brady Bunch, but to no avail. That's too bad, because after Petticoat Junction, Meredith could've guest starred as Marcia Brady's cheerleading coach and she would've been good at it!!!
@@rubytuesday4379, still speaking of Sherwood Schwartz, both Lori Saunders and Jeannine Riley were cast as Betsy and Lulu on Dusty's Trail in 1973, alongside Bob Denver and Forrest Tucker. Yep, Gilligan, Bobbie Jo and Billie Jo & Sgt. O'Rourke!!!
Vahan was right, in the Game Show Network years and even in the early stages of The Network For Games era, GSN went from the February 28, 1975 episode straight to this episode the very next day. This was the latest '75 episode to air before Password returned to the schedule according to the older PDFs which you can still go to as well as the new-to-GSN episodes of the $25,000 Pyramid.
Or "The Man From Glad"; he did commercials for Glad products in the 1980s. He also played Chuck the cat from the Whiskas cat food commercials in the 1990s.
The head of the special gadget devision said, "Do be careful when you sit down, 007. I've hidden a blank in your shorts." Meredith: "You know, with all the Watergate stuff going on, I said microphone." I'm surprised that nobody said anything about what would happen if 007 had gas that day.
Brett quit several times, but would always start back...I've seen Elaine Joyce, Ed Asner, Patty Duke, Joan Collins, Scoey Mitchll, Robert Morse all drag on a cig...I'm sure there's more...
ROFL! Another fine episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Ahh Meredith McRae one of the only three reasons to watch Petticoat Junction, but I'm biased because I 💘 a pretty redhead. I guess if the auto mechanic wanted to give his girl a gift she would enjoy he woulda given her a lube job
Contestants are often pretty dumb on this show - their insistance on picking Richard tops their levels of stupidity - along with their slow witted answers
Richard Dawson is such a grate grating guy. I recall him begging for the Johnny Carson spot on stage like a true ?? I have no clue why people pick him. Does he seem smarter than Brett ?
Love you Mr C 💯💯💯😍😍
Much respect for Tom for his willingness to wear his reading glasses on camera. Not like most vain Hollywood folks.
and suck cancer sticks.
I love how Richard Dawson says, "It's the man from Glad." Tom Bosley did lots of commercial for Glad trash bags.
And sandwich bags, and ....
I wish they could have had more actors from Happy Days on Match Game, like Donny Most, or Marion Ross, or Ron Howard, or even Henry Winkler, that would have been cool to have had the Fonz on Match Game
Great to see Tom!

I'm not even a sports fan, but I thought of Cincinnati Reds.

Mr.C You Are The Best
We've got Mr. C, Radar, Sally Douglas and Newkirk on Match Game '75!!!
The way back machine love me mr C!
That is true about Sally Douglas, but I was thinking of Billie Jo Bradley!

That Maya Lake is a real dish.
A Lady...Not a Dish... A dish is what food is placed on. Please,, some Respect. Thanks from a white man from Canada.
Mia’s outfit is amazing!

mosseisleyYT motor cycle was the right choice. the only right choice.
@@clayz1 Motor City. Wasn't Miya from Detroit?
He messed that up.

Nice mutton chops, Cecil! 😆
Welcome Tom Bosley-"Mr. Howard Cunningham from Happy Days".....or Father Frank Dowling from "Father Dowling Mysteries"
Or Sheriff Tupper on "Murder, She Wrote".
Or David in David the Gnome
Or "The Man From Glad"; he did commercials for Glad products in the 1980s. He also played Chuck the cat from the Whiskas cat food commercials in the 1990s.
Every one of them missed the obvious answer: Monster eats with forked tongue!
That's what I thought, too.
The head of the special gadget devision said, "Do be careful when you sit down, 007. I've hidden a blank in your shorts."
Meredith: "You know, with all the Watergate stuff going on, I said microphone."
I'm surprised that nobody said anything about what would happen if 007 had gas that day.
Brett is usually very stylish but this wig makes her look older.
I don't think any wig would help Brett.
Panelists:
1. Tom Bosley
2. Brett Somers
3. Gary Burghoff
4. Meredith Macrae
5. Richard Dawson
6. Fannie Flagg
It looked Richard was avoiding a kiss from Louise. LoL
Fast forward to 2020 Colorado Springs is OVERBUILT
I never knew the panelists could smoke on the show (Tom Bosley)!
Gene Barrett sometimes you can see CNR (with a pipe), Brett, and Richard smoking 🚬
Brett quit several times, but would always start back...I've seen Elaine Joyce, Ed Asner, Patty Duke, Joan Collins, Scoey Mitchll, Robert Morse all drag on a cig...I'm sure there's more...
@Gene Barrett: How ironic, because Tom appeared in this anti smoking film in 1974: ua-cam.com/video/Dse2gR2bGi4/v-deo.html
Smoking on TV shows was much more common and accepted back then.
This ISN'T the first time you've seen this show is it?! Saint Richard only did it quite a bit!
Miya is so sweett
motor car? really.
That's what I Say, Motor car?? But Why didn't you trust me??
I really liked the show MASH, but I can hardly stand Gary Burghoff on these episodes.
Well, I, personally really like Brett's new/latest wig!
ROFL!! Ok RD and GR must have made up because they are being silly together again... ;0)
Miya...
They: "With all these days we've had of Watergate and everything..."
I: This sh!\\ in Washington D.C. today!!!!!!
Merideth died when she was 59 - after many issues dealing with brain cancer. Sad!

Brett is....
What?
Too bad they always think they have to choose Richards answers. That could have been 5000 for the baby 🍼🐥
Richard was wrong about motor car..not used much, like motor cycle is.
Even back then?
That shouldn't be a surprise. Saint Richard is USUALLY wrong
Gene was definitely over served at the dinner break.
First taping of the day, too early.. This is normal Gene.. ;0) I believe it is also the beginning of the week taping so this is the first one to be tape that weekend.. Might be jet lag or Gene just being Gene for once.. ;0)

Is saint Richard SERIOUS right now?!! EVERY SINGLE PERSON on that panel would have said motorcycle. What is WRONG with him!!
Too excited about getting a kiss from that beautiful young lady. did you see him when she chose him! He's been very "thirsty" lately!
Richard is from England they say things differently
I thought of motor home, and motor boat. Motorcycle never crossed my mind.
I think Richard purposely gives wrong answers if he does not like contestant
Brett needs to get her ears/hearing checked by a Dr.
