When they said *Arsenic and Old Lace* it reminded me of the 1962 television version of the play with Tom Bosley as "Teddy Roosevelt". It also had Boris Karloff and Tony Randall.
Diane Thompson was classic. should have been a gold star episode. Don't think I've laughed this hard during an episode other than the Evie Phineas ones.
Arsenic and Old Lace -- my all time favourite comedy!!!! If you haven't seen it and enjoy comedy --- you HAVE to watch it 😀😄🤣😆 (make sure it's the original with Cary Grant)
I agree, but that movie came out in the '40's! "Chantilly Lace" was a huge hit in the late '50's, by the Big Bopper, and it was featured on the American Graffiti soundtrack, which had come out only two years before this episode. I said Chantilly, if only I had been on the panel. Maybe in the next life...
Oh my goodness, today's new challenger has to be near the top of the list of the most memorable MG contestants of all time! I can't wait to see "tomorrow's" episode!
I'm amazed Chantilly Lace wasn't up there. I knew Arsenic and Old Lace ("No, I'm the son of a sea cook!") would be up there, and the other responses were crap, but wow.
Yes, 83 times this season, plus 3 head to head matches.. 36 in MG74, 22 in MG79, 18 in MGSynd almost thou season 2, and 13 in MGPM almost thou season 6 so total 172. That is all I have tracked so far.. ;0)
Miller-Kern, round 1, question B: "Of course it wasn't true, but that's just what made it plausible. VAULTING POLE!" (Ding!) Question A: "The point of petticoats is to cover your legs, isn't it? 'BELL-BOTTOM Junction'." (Bzzt!) Round 2, queston B: (lay out) Question A: "What's a salad without greens? ARUGULA!" (Bzzt!) (then there would have to be a tie-breaker, so we could get to the…) Super Match: SPANISH Miller-Thompson, round 1, question A: "The only thing I could think of was that we were making fun of his poor housekeeping - so I said she lost her LUNCH in there." (Bzzt!)
I've seen this episode a number of times on the buzzr network, so refreshing to watch it commercial free. I would say salad dressing because there are different types like French, thousand island, ranch and so on. She lost her innocence WITH a wrench
I take your point on this in general, but here he did say Arsenic and Old Lace, the audience did boo him for it, and it was the $500 answer. I'd have chewed them out, too. Audiences have too often been running hot or cold, to extremes, the last few episodes. Even Gene has called them on it.
Maybe he's questioning his entire existence because he's matching Brett so often lately (today's "Topless" Junction, and Josephine the Plumber losing her innocence/virtue for example).
Starting about two weeks ago, his wardrobe has been provided by the company whose name appears on screen at the end of each episode ("Mr. Rayburn's wardrobe furnished by Rubin Brothers International"), and they really have been attractive, high-quality suits. But you know, now Gene looks too corporate and too polished. I liked him better when he wore his own stuff. Some of it was wild and mismatched, and even garish at times, but it seemed to suit the vibe of the show better.
Free spirit flying! :0) ROFL! Another fine episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Fannie! ;0) Love the entrances, silliness, voices, acting and the fun Gene! ;0) But a way to go! ;0) Yea, I guess.. ;0) Pole vault! ;0) I think you are gutly guy.. ;0) dying broad! ;0) BOO!! ;0) bikini ;0) pregie! ;0) naked! ;0) car! ;0) oil well! ;0) salad dressing! ;0) I love pressure! ;0) house burned down I guess.. ;0) ROFL! I love to jump into these episodes! Takes me right back to the BEST era the '70's. Coming home from school and Mom fixing us a snack while we watched the Match Game. Thank you for posting 😊
Excellent episode!!! Really cracked me up!! Thanks so much for putting this on here.
Cecil was right! Cadillac was the answer

Fannie: “You know what happens when you pull this string?”
Gene: “What?”
Fannie: “Brett’s wig flies off!!”
😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅
Brett and Fannie's banter is hilarious.
LOL....like the time when Fannie sent a big bouquet of WILTED yellow flowers!🤣
I luv Fannie roasting Brett she does it with such joy!

Nice to see Mr. C again!
This was one of my top 5 all time fave episodes. This should have been a GOLD STAR EPISODE. LOVE to know what Dianne is up to today?
Didn't she marry a warlock?
Now that's what I call a shirt!
I'm amazed Chantilly Lace wasn't up there. I knew Arsenic and Old Lace ("No, I'm the son of a sea cook!") would be up there, and the other responses were crap, but wow.
Tom Bosley is adorable.😊
3:32 We really do miss classic Saturday mornings!
Grape Ape
Guess I'm the only one that thought of "Pantyhose Junction". Just remembering all the "L'eggs" commercials of the '70s I suppose.
Thinking of Linda, Lori, and Meredith, I said Hooterville Junction.
No! I did, too!
That’s genius! I like that one!
Miniskirt Junction
Diane is a cutie !!!
Notice how loud the applause got for Fanny...
Fannie's Brett wig comment + House of fire burned down + On the road to warlock + Lost her mouth in Gary's sink = GOLD STAR EPISODE
It was a wild one.
OMG,MATCHGAME BEST GAME SHOW EVER!!! Gene,Tom,Richard, Bret..you are SOOOOO MISSED! Thank you for posting VERY BEST GAME SHOW EVER!!
Didn't Gene look sharp in that outfit? Now we wear ripped jeans & call it fashion.
Okay grandpa.
Not everyone could pull off that sports coat.
@@SpencerNitzYOU MAYBE ONE, one day.
Hilarious episode 😂
ROFL!! Got to love it, when she corrected herself, they only show GR and RD on the cameras.. ;0) Love to see Gene laughing, sorry it is so cute.. ;0)
I hate secondhand embarrassment
This has got to be one of the best episodes! Did Gary Burghof ever match anyone? I said miniskirt junction.

Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo and Betty Jo in miniskirts oh the scandal! Clutching my pearls!
15:13 Blonde moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is an idiot!💯💯
What in the hell.......
_On the Road to Warlock_ shall be the title to my next autobiography.
Brett Somers was the wacky aunt that we all had growing up.
Or uncle.

What a time to be without closed captioning! I really couldn't understand what all the laughter was about.... I had an idea why but....
4:11 That is not a pleasing audience response to Gary. They picked on him 😂
17:55 Listen to this woman's answer while holding up a mirror to you face. Your reflection will make you laugh.

This is a classic
Can't we just appreciate his fashion sense, without being negative? Sheesh
Is Diane okay?
Idt so
No.
Gary Burghoff never went through puberty.
He did it just didn't end well.
15:38 “In other words, I’m taken…but not yet.”
“Oh, well we can arrange that” 😂
Diane Thompson brought to mind Kelly Pickler. Both blondes, innocent, and their features.
I wish Gary would get rid of that pimple on his forehead. Other than that, hilarious episode.
I don't think its a pimple. Looks more like a mole.
This episode he was quite tolerable too. Lol
Looking at more recent photos, it looks like he had it removed.
Fannie rhymed hood with....hood.. lmao
That was cute.
Sometimes, sweet as they may be, bless their hearts, we get a glimpse of the background as to why the 1980s were the decade of Dumb Blonde jokes.
Pinocchio's nose as a diving board? Stupid.🥴
Now Richard was scolding the audience for not taking his answer! Something is not quite right with him lately.
It's annoying.

It's so funny how they always compliment Gene on his suit. But when you look at them today he looks horrible
I guess they were stylish at the time.
Starting about two weeks ago, his wardrobe has been provided by the company whose name appears on screen at the end of each episode ("Mr. Rayburn's wardrobe furnished by Rubin Brothers International"), and they really have been attractive, high-quality suits.
