    I have been using this method for years. The epoxy wears the same as the original aluminum and its really affordable compared to relining or replacing the wear ring.

    I neeed to do this, just can't figure out how to get to the cable to take it off.

      Mine was really tough to get off, too! Heavily corroded, double nuts, large wrench size. I used a little heat taking care not to burn rubber parts. I was changing out the cables so I did not have to care about them. Good luck!

    How difficult was it to remove the prop
    Mine is original from 2000 and has seen better days. Not alot of info on internet for this.

      I did not remove mine. I have heard it can be a brute. The FaceBook group "Mercury Sport Jet" is a great resource for mechanical info. I have seen others wrestle that challenge. Good Luck!!

    Cool Jim great tip did you replace the bushings in the stator any noticeable difference when it was back on the water

      I did replace the bushings and everything worked well. I never saw it run in the "before" condition so I don't have a comparison. I do know that there are a lot of complaints about not getting on a plane for some of these guys. Waterlogging of the boat is a big contributor, but the efficiency of this drive unit is another big deal. Good luck with yours!

    Where did you find your pivot bushings?

      Boats.net had them. I will look it up and add a link.

      Here is the Pivot Bushing. www.boats.net/search?q=832048&ui=typeahead
      Here is the Pivot Bolt. www.boats.net/search?q=831922&ui=typeahead
      Both worked beautifully! They were original Merc parts when I bought them. Good Luck!

    Did this work?

    • @jimoverhulser8734
      @jimoverhulser8734  2 роки тому

      Yes. I did not have a "before" to use for reference since I obtained the boat dead out of the water. Once I had it in the water and running well, the hole shot was good and the top end was satisfactory...48 MPH. I have heard others complain about those two details and blaming it on the wear ring. We gave it a couple hours of sea trial and then started the hull work. I hope to have it back in the water soon!
