Awesome tutorial! I noticed you were having a little trouble getting under the strands while weaving, so here's my two cents. Whenever I do a weave like this, I put beads on each nail of my jig to hold the standing strands up off the surface. It doesn't matter what type of beads you use, they just have to provide a gap of at least 1/4 inch.
I do a bit of weaving and have made a few looms. You don’t need to offset the nails , just use an even number of nails at each end. The end to end around the nails is called the warp. The length of cord ( or string or torn rags for that matter) is 2 times the number of nails x the length of one side of the warp. The length of material you need for the weave depends on the thickness of the material you are using and how tight you weave it but will be roughly the length x width of your loom divided by the thickness of your cord . Eg For the pouch shown it would be roughly 220mmx90mm = 19800/ .65= 30462mm =3.05 metres or 10ft.
That is some great information and advice Michael, I'll have to take that into account when I make another project/video like this. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! I adapted this to make a "Trauma Wallet" big enough to hold a NAR Hyfin Chest Seal. Instead of making a flap for a closure, I doubled the pocket on both sides for storage so I could fit other trauma-kit items.
This is great, Tim! When I saw the card pouch tutorial, I tried to use the method in that video to make a phone pouch. My first attempt ended up being too small, because I did not leave enough extra space. The second was too big because I overcompensated. This method will allow me to make the pouch I want! Thank you!
about those edges: you need a horizontal bar instead of a bunch of vertical finishing nails in your set up. you'll forfeit the controlled spacing that the finishing nails provide... but if you're using flattened cord, then the spacing will come naturally anyways.
For the issue of maki the ends cleaner, you could use a couple pieces of small metal rod, or maybe just pieces of wire coat hanger. You can still use the nails as guides and to hold the rod, but have the rods on the outsides of the nails and loop the cord around the rod. Once you get to the end you can just pull the rod out and then run the cord through. Or, if you have a couple lacing needles that are long enough, you could use those as the rods, then you just attach the cord and pull through.
If the width of the rectangle as your template is 3.5 inches wide, then the spacing for the nails from center out has to be more than a quarter inch apart for equal spacing right?
You should consider using a crochet hook for some of the techniques such as straightening the loops and pulling the cord when it is difficult to pass the cord through a loop
I do this without tools or a loom... I just do it with flax (harakeke as it's known in Aotearoa New Zealand) as a kid. it's a lot of fun though id promote using flax instead of Paracord 😂 just for the abundance & natural aspect. great video dude 💚
I modified ur template by using 9" by 4" instead but still using 1/4" spacing between nails and using all the nails but 1, I don't know how many feet for the colors I'm using either.
Hi Tim! Can you do this with a belt loop at the back. I'm thinking of using this as a coin purse clipped to my belt. Just a suggestion. :) Great video and very nice idea! Keep it up! And keep it coming!
Thanks Grant! And no, it doesn't necessarily need to be an elastic loop, an elastic loop might just work a bit better. If you make the loop just big enough to fit the diamond knot through, it should work fine.
@@TheWeaversofEternity thank you very much! I have had a bunch of extra time to do stuff without school going on and I just got back out my paracord from the back of my closet! I have been using your tutorials quite a bit and find them really helpful. I love the knuckle rollers and fidget things!!!
2:28 its a rectangle not a square.(Just saying, I don't mean to come across negative to your work, I really like the ideas and design you put behind your videos. Planing to make this one soon.)
That's a great pouch! I'd love to make it but paracord isn't available in my country or is extremely expensive due to shipping costs. What shall I use to make this? Ps- I commented this during the premiere...
Hey Tim have you seen Cetus 550s latest bracelet? Winter Soldier is the name of it. I like it but it would be cool if you could do it in Blue and White. I'm interested in the pouch you're making as well.
Awesome I love your videos. I ordered some elastic cord from the affiliate link. I just have to get some wood and some finishing nails. Going to try this pouch.😎
I’m rather experienced with weaving paracord myself and I just do not understand why you would gut the paracord and then run it through a hair straightener? It just seems like a poser would carry around non functional paracord? The whole point of carrying woven paracord with you is to be prepared for survival situations. Weaving this survival tool allows one to conveniently carry a large amount of it.
I get what you're saying about keeping the paracord functional, but I personally think that not all paracord crafts need to be "functional" or for "survival situations". In this case, the paracord is just a material that can be made into various forms for different projects and crafts. This coin pouch is simply a coin pouch. It's not meant to be taken apart for emergency cord. In fact it would be really inconvenient and time consuming to take apart for emergency cord. Also, gutting the cord and flattening it makes it more suitable for a craft like this. An ungutted paracord coin pouch would be bulky and not very flexible. If I wanted to carry functional cord for emergencies, it would be in the form of a quick deploy bracelet or key chain. Just my perspective on projects like this.

This deserves more attention.

I’ve been looking for coin pouches all morning and this is the 1 I liked. Need a flexible and durable pouch.
Thanks! I adapted this to make a "Trauma Wallet" big enough to hold a NAR Hyfin Chest Seal. Instead of making a flap for a closure, I doubled the pocket on both sides for storage so I could fit other trauma-kit items.

You're welcome David! Glad you like this one and I hope this one does help!

What do you do with the paracord guts when you remove them?
Amigo, es increíble tu creatividad y talento
Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos
Good job Tim.
Keep on.

Thanks for the demo, it’s exactly what i was looking for.
THOSE COINS ARE DOMINICAN!!!
This is great, never thought of using Paracord , made a coin pouch with Wax Cord though 😊

I am just getting into paracording I like You're video's
lil tip, you can knot the ends of the elastic cord to secure it.
You should consider using a crochet hook for some of the techniques such as straightening the loops and pulling the cord when it is difficult to pass the cord through a loop
Very useful, thanks. I can use the same weaving for other pouches !!
Awesome! Thank you!
Can this be done with a single uninterrupted cord?
Que padres piezas realizas, gracias por enseñar, felicidades por tu talento!!
Great stuff!!!
You’re Canadian? Cool!
Got a kids weaving loom at walmart for $5. Worked pretty good with minor adjustments... still your's looks so much better than mine lol.
Amei ♥️ parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 parabéns 👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

If made many times larger, could this design make a good satchel???
Can you do baskets, bags and backpacks as well
Шикарное плетение!!!!!
Great tutorial! Thank you.
I would love to see you make a paracord flip top box
Awesome
Fantastic men
Lo intentere hacer con cola de rata o alguna sugerencia ?
I'm thinking of using ur template for the slim wallet and c if it is better.
I like this a lot! Thank you!
felicitaciones a youtube y a google 2019 por un año mas........
Side bar - holy hell at the hammer lmao
hi. i am new to your channel. i look forward to learning from you. your designs are brilliant.
Incredible work!
i thinks that this is by most the best video i have ever seen! good job man loves your work
Good job on the the merch!!!
Do you have to flatten it? I haven't got a hair straightener or iron.
No, you don't have to if you don't have an iron. Flattening it just makes it look better and possibly easier to work with, but it's an optional step.
I modified ur template by using 9" by 4" instead but still using 1/4" spacing between nails and using all the nails but 1, I don't know how many feet for the colors I'm using either.

you absolutely could. it's just basic weaving.
Which way would you offset the nails on the bottom and by how much do you suggest offsetting the nails?
Off setting the nails simply makes the pattern a bit easier to weave. I think offsetting by half a centimeter or so would be enough.
Never thought of making gutted paracord into ribbons with a hair iron.
That is really cool! I was thinking of doing it but then realized I don't have an elastic cord. Does it have to be an elastic cord for the loop?
Thanks Grant! And no, it doesn't necessarily need to be an elastic loop, an elastic loop might just work a bit better. If you make the loop just big enough to fit the diamond knot through, it should work fine.

Do you happen to have a video of making. A rounded pouch?
that's nice
Where did you get the lighter from please
mis servidores de siempre millonisimas gracias
Would paracord work where you used micro cord and if not what shop can I get it from . I have tried bcf and Bunning Warehouse.
You could always try thin elastic from spotlight or lincraft instead of thin paracord.
Can you make a tutorial of a market tote bag please?
2:28 its a rectangle not a square.(Just saying, I don't mean to come across negative to your work, I really like the ideas and design you put behind your videos. Planing to make this one soon.)
I fused the phone case of yours and this coin poutch togetter for my ear plugs
Is there a way to section it off?
For earbuds!!!!
Anything you can fit in there! 👍
Or memory cards.
Or swiss army kmife
Yes! Or a medicine bag to carry your crystals around 😊
Ya, I think I am going to use them for my AirPods!
I’m going to make a parachord pouch for the guys I pulled out of the parchord
What coins are those? They look similar to ones I saw in Belize
They're Canadian coins 🙂
They look Mexican too
Can you show how to make a paracord deck of cards holder?
How can I make one of these for AirPod case and AirPod Pro case
You can purchase gutted paracord for those types of projects.
That's a great pouch!
I'd love to make it but paracord isn't available in my country or is extremely expensive due to shipping costs. What shall I use to make this?
Ps- I commented this during the premiere...
Do you know how to make orthodox prayer rope " komboskini", with the " devil's knot", and catholic rosary with franciscan knots? ..I just can't manage
I don't, but if I do learn how to do those, I will make a tutorial for sure.

Plz make wallet with ATM cover
Third grade craft goes mainstrean DIY.
It's definitely higher than third grade... I'd say at least middle school.
Idk how I feel about this one 😕
Takes time to get used to.

I don't understand why you would "gut" paracord. Now it's not useful anymore.
