      No reverend or yamaha either :(. But I guess the range of les paul inspired(lp spec) guitars is so huge, especially when you include a double cut in there

      Yoseph McJoe probably could have been. But Chappers needed to advertise his brand, instead of finding interesting instruments.

      To be fair his brand is interesting, you're not gonna get a guitar that good for that kind of money pretty much anywhere you go... and it is a real competitor in this genre so why not feature it

      Tried the esp/Ltd ec-1000 and it looked great. But, didn’t have the feel and tone for me so I traded for an LP studio! Excellent guitar those esp/Ltd, great value indeed! Right up there with the studio in all aspects. It’s a tone preference thing is all.

    I've been watching their videos for several years now. One thing I have to point out is that Lee Anderton's playing ability has really improved! Musically speaking, this was one of the best videos I've ever seen from these two. I really like it when they are switching off playing rhythm and lead, but the backing track behind them this time, really pulled a bit more out of both of them. Rob used to just shred up and down the neck faster than a pile of japanese beetles through a pine forest, but not much musicality in it. We all know he's actually a pro musician, but this time he really really put it all together and sounded awesome! Great job to all involved.

    1: My thing is if I am paying £1000 for a guitar, it had better come with a hard case, one specifically designed for that guitar, and not some generic gig bag. (Thank you, Chapman! It is one of the reasons I am thinking of selling my ESPs, and being exclusive to Chapman.)
    2: Rob holding that sustained note while handing a guitar to Lee, now THAT is talent right there.

      I have a PRS SE Nick Catanese signature model (single cut, EMG actives) which is the best playing guitar I have ever owned (American Strats and Teles - I am a confirmed Fender nut) - sadly this model is no longer in production, but I have to say it beats every Les Paul and LP style guitar I have tried over the last 40 years.

      Been looking at the Zach Myers today, went to a shop in Manchester UK to have a look at some Gibson Les Paul Traditional's and saw a few flaws in them, cracked finish around the bridge screws, what seemed to be a crack on the nut. Always wanted a Les Paul but looking at the standard of the PRS at nearly half the price!!!!!

    As I am sure someone has commented already, the PRS S2 Singlecut Standard Satin's tone knobs can be pulled to split either humbucker (a resistor is used, per pickup, such that it is neither a full split nor a tap).

    I don't understand people are hating on chappers pulling out a chapman. They could do 20 guitars that are les paul inspired and if 19 of them weren't chapman and one of them was y'all would still fuss. Couple years ago everyone was asking to see more chapman guitars. I personally think they are great guitars and do their own thing very well. Everyone has their own opinion but y'all need to chill with bashing him for using chapman. They own the damn company so if they want to use the guitars then let them! If you don't like them then piss off!

    • @whitefantom
      @whitefantom 6 років тому +3

      I've noticed most of the nasty comments sarted after the NAMM show reveal of the new Chapman line with the Standard and Pro range and their different price points. I think the Pro range prices were unexpected and hit a lot of people hard, and now there are a lot of sour grapes out there holding a grudge. Before this past NAMM I hardly saw any negativity around Chapman guitars.

    • @picklesnips3378
      @picklesnips3378 6 років тому +2

      Jennifer Doneske yes I agree which is something I still don't understand. All of the signature models (besides the cap-10) like the bea sig and the rob scallon models were the price of the pro models now which were kind of like the pro lineup of the original chapmans. I don't get the hate but it is what it is. I just hope that people will chill out. If they don't like chapman guitars then that is fine but there is no need to throw so much hate around like they do.

    • @iandavis891
      @iandavis891 6 років тому +4

      I agree Guitarholic27 Peterson - anyone who has a problem with what Rob and Lee decide to include should feel free to stop watching and boring true guitar aficionados with their predictable, hackneyed and snide remarks.

    • @picklesnips3378
      @picklesnips3378 6 років тому +4

      Ian Davis exactly. I mean yes everyone is entitled to their own opinions and freedom of speech and all that but there is also professional courtesy and if you don't like what they choose then fine. You can even state it. But after the 30th video of seeing the same people hating on rob and lee it's just kinda like you don't even want to go the comment section anymore because everyone is
      Just being abunch of horses asses. I don't like certain presenters and certain videos but I don't comment that. I just simply stop watching them. Why is that so hard for people? Do they get off just to talk crap about people? Like
      Lee said. Those aren't true musicians.

      No what really happened is they started hating on them more when they changed factories because everybody was saying the wuality went down there were many reviews on it thats when people really started saying aomething but I still dont get it he is using the same factory as many other guitar companies do like schecter and evrrything and usually the quality is good out of the indonesia factory it makes no sense but yeah zi dont get all of the hate makes no sense and there is no need for sll of this hate in the guitar industry we all should be supporting one another

    A little constructive criticism, I feel like the initial backing track was a bit busy for the lead work. Either lowering it in the master or just straight up playing 'smaller' chords could've made it a bit better.

    TLDR; Perhaps Andertons weren't selling enough of Gordon Smiths in their shop and hence this was a disguised promo?
    First off, both you guys have been doing an amazing job for years now and I'm a huge fan!! I'm also not complaining about the inclusion of ML2 in this list, or any other list from Chappers/Lee for that matter, as I genuinely think they SHOULD believe in their product and it's only fair to be promoting/talking-about what they believe in - I'd have been worried if they didn't believe in their own product. BUT, I'm a bit suspect about the inclusion of the Gordon Smith GS2 here. I, in my limited knowledge, think it's more of a 60's vintage Melody Maker or at best an LP Special double cut inspired guitar. There are plenty, plenty more guitars that were worthy to be included in this 'LP inspired' list. Perhaps Andertons weren't selling enough of Gordon Smiths in their shop and hence this was a disguised promo??

    I can really recommend FGN, if you are looking for super amazing sounding, feeling and classic looking Les Paul around 1000€ (or even less than 650€ used). I got one myself couple years ago and it is still my favourite guitar for almost everything. They do not have any stuff like chambering, so they are pretty damn heavy though.

    I would say that the Gordon Smith guitar featured here is more like a Melody Maker than a Les Paul type. You could have used a Gordon Smith Les Paul shaped guitar though, they make beautiful guitars, and with single cutaways. So why didn't you...? Doesn't quite make sense.

    I have pretty much the same Gordon Smith GS2 as the one in this video. Except mine has coil taps and the fully compensated bridge. Best guitar I've ever played. I'm actually driving down to guildford tonight from manchester and will be visiting andertons with it tomorrow. So it was refreshing to see this video just before my visit :D

    I bought a Les Paul inspired Ibanez ARZ200 goldtop for less than $500 Canadian. I really like it. Excellent build quality. It has a slim joint making access to the upper frets very easy compared to other Les Paul types. It has the same Classic Elite H pickups that Ibanez put on much more expensive guitars like the AFS75. My hands love this guitar, it's my go to guitar when learning or composing.

    Chapman sounded quite a bit different than the others, I'm sure with some amp tweaking I would've liked it just as much but as of the video it sounded a touch too warm to me, it needed a little more bark

    The LTD Vintage black you played does also come with EMG's if you want them. You had the Duncan version. Oh and Rob I'm not sure you are an ESP artist anymore, you're not listed on the website as one. Good video though just wished it had been longer.

    If "inspired" means more about the vibe / feel /sound than just the singlecut shape, you can also consider Ibanez AR, Yamaha sg, Yamaha RS, Ibanez RC. Also Fujigen has some lp style models that are made in Japan and pretty affordable

    that Chapman is aces.. Admit it guys , you love it too.. Many Humbucking guitars have a very neutral sound.. only once you add the pedals do they come alive.. but the Chapman has its own unique sound which is quite pleasant.

    I think this concept was great and you should definitely expand on this to other shape/styles of guitar, but I think you could also expand this to other budget, for example Les Paul inspired guitars for under £500. That could also be a way to do over the last under £500 video you did were people thought it was biased.
    I personally don't think Chappers was too biased in this video. Yeah, he preferred the sound of the Chapman and LTD, but that's because he's looking for a more modern sound. I'm personally biased toward the PRS, because I just love them!

    The Gibson just had that thick chunky vintage les paul rock sound that none of the others quite matched. A couple had a little something of it but for the most part they all sounded pretty modern even if they didn't always look modern. The Chapman and LTD looked pretty slick and the set through was pretty sweet. I really wanted to like the PRS better. because I'm kind of interested in a semi hollow Mira for the light weight. I really wanted to like something to stand out other than the Les Paul because they are kind of thick, chunky and heavy without any comfort sculpting. Ah well..

      And why wouldn't he choose the ML-2 when it fits the video? Why do you trolls have to comment crap like this on every single video? The guitars are good, Lee is the co-owner, why wouldn't they feature the guitars here, when it fits the video? And don't tell me Andertons has become just a Chapman-commercial-channel, because that is bullshit...

    • @olivercarpenter7563
      @olivercarpenter7563 6 років тому +3

      I'm not a troll but when he always points out that the Chapman guitar is the best it takes credibility away from him. A little objectivity would be nice. It's a great channel, with loads of great videos but this "the Chapman is the best because of this this and this" being said by an owner of the business detracts from it

    • @guitarnerdjoey1192

      Why wouldn't he say it is the best? Name me one guitar company that advertises its own products as "Pretty good, I mean, its not as good as the other brand but maybe give us a shot anyway?".
      Also, the channel has been an advertising space for what is sold in the Andertons store since day one, with no exception. They don't compare everything on the market they simply grab what they have in the store.
      Plus, you get to watch it all for free, so really you are complaining about something you don't pay for that has always been about what you are complaining about.

      olivier arnold robs a shredder, lee plays more rhythmically. Personally, I much prefer Lees style

    • @olivierarnold_
      @olivierarnold_ 6 років тому +1

      he might be a shredder and i have nothing against it, I'm not saying that at all, I like shred, jazz, fusion but being a good musician also means having good timing, and it happens a little to often that he for example doesn't finish on the beat etc, and i think that the combination of timing, phrasing etc makes a good musician but personally i think that rob has recentyl lost some vibes he used to have, not trying to discredit him in any way, he just had a kid and ofcourse its not easy to mix music and having a kid but just saying.... Might have to play a little more again, cause he really is a good guy and musician

    • @WheatWormStudios
      @WheatWormStudios 6 років тому

      olivier arnold Music has 3 main components. Rhythm, bass, and melody. They're all equally important if the music is going to be subconsciously good sounding. and a shredder running through scales is not music because it has none of those aspects that make music good.

    • @purpleholsterz
      @purpleholsterz 6 років тому +2

      WheatWormStudios I don't agree with that. By that logic, bands like the White Stripes aren't music because they don't have bass, or Meshuggah isn't music because they are really rhythm focused rather than melody.
      I would agree that Rob's shredding is really lame though.

But man, that'a a really classy move at 2:55, that's how you promote a brand! :D Holding that note and doing those awesome bends on a Gibbo while not giving a sh_t about it and handing the product to your mate... :D Well done, Sir! :D
