Matt , I am blown away that you responded to my commentary. I thank you for that and it's not just words I truly do mean it. You sir are a class act. I can only hope to be half as good of a trainer as you are.
I want to thank you Matt I'm doing so good on my horse and we are doing good and I'm doing so good on ride ing my horse and she is doing good and I have confidence on my horse thank you so much naunette
Hi again MATT Another good vid with super tips and commentary. Great fun watching you train. You're so darn good! Really appreciate nice transitions and that fast brain reaction when they're paying attention and thinking quick. Fun having a smooth three year old lol. You've got some young dandies in your bunch. Thx as always for sharing. Smiling at the thought how some are running out to tack up as soon as the vid is done to go practice lol... Catcha next time.
Hi, I am just learning how to do sliding stops and I’m riding this horse that stops really well but I always get pounded into the pommel or I get launched out of the seat. I’ve been trying to put all my weight in my stirrups but I can never sit it. Do you think my weight could be part of the problem (100lbs)? If not what can I do to sit the stop better?
one thing you can do is sit deep into the seat, and when stopping put your “belt buckle to the sky” as i’ve been told. and focus your weight backwards:)
That 3yr old is a smart cookie. She's got great balance too. I think Matt Mills deliberately breeds them shorter for shows. They probably have better balance, control. Think of ballerinas. Most weigh about 100 pounds.
@@neemtreebarkReiners tend to be shorter but there’s plenty bigger ones. The colonels tend to be smaller so that’s just what dictates size. He doesn’t breed them for it he breeds for a nice horse
This is a disgusting thing, reining. Horses were not born for this, and it kills their legs… Puts terrible pressure on them and very often they go lame. It should be outlawed once and for all!

Great teacher..you make it understandable to the rider! I look forward to each and every video with great tips! More please!!
Those transitions are awesome great communication for a 3 year old. She’s nice.
First time I realized the leg language was from watching Matt Mills. How cool😍
I used some of these techniques with my dog training, never thought of doing it with horses

i have a question. the rundown and the stops are literally very good, but how i teach him the slide (he has sliding plates)?

Awesome!
Bet it's enjoyable for Matt to ride a taller horse like this one, or so it appears taller than most of those lil chunks!😅
