    Hi again MATT
    Happy I found this vid as notifications still not working!
    Much in the repetition and I agree not to make a big deal about every single thing. I always believed not to call attention on some things and give the little stuff overload for the horse to think about. The repetition doing mostly the correct stuff will eventually be the way in which will secure the task. But as we all know horses will be horses and there is no perfect one just almost.
    Good to see you again. Never heard how Tulsa went for you. Was cheering for you all from afar!
    Thx as always for sharing.

    How do you teach your horse to do flying lead changes

  • @Kathyborum
    @Kathyborum 4 роки тому +4

    I noticed you not only opened the shoulder by putting your foot out on the side you were changing to. But you also were standing at first, then sat down AND was leaning to the opposite side of the lead being changed to. I would have thought the lean would be toward the lead you were asking for. Is there a reason for this opposite side change?

      That’s probably because if you would lean in the same direction you want to change to, you put your weight onto that shoulder again which you acutally wanted to open. Therefore you need to put your foot out on the side to open the shoulder but keep your weight off of it by leaning to the opposite side as shown in the video. Hope I could help you :)

    Love the video! I was wondering if you could maybe upload a polo wraps video here on youtube? That would be great!

    What is a drill for one that changes on his own Everytime I go to the middle? He changes easy and fast but on his own.... I'm struggling in the pen.
    Thank you

    how can you tell if you got the lead change? i can't tell if my horse switched or notv :/

      Definitely should feel it after awhile. Try glancing down at the shoulders. Whichever one moves out the furthest is what lead you are on!

    Hey! Do you know any good reining or reined cowhorse trainers in WI? I’m in HS Rodeo and am doing reined cowhorse and I need some good Rainey’s who know what they are talking about. My horse is an old reining horse trained by Craig Schmersal!!! If you know of anybody please let me know!!! Thank you! 😊

    This is a stupid question, but what color would you call that horse? Obviously a palomino, but what kind? He’s so gorgeous!

    So, basically it's not your seat that tells your horse which lead to take but it's your leg?

    What seems even harder than performing a lead change is capturing it consistently on video 😆
