Thanks for the kind words. 1st gen is still a good device. But I would recommend waiting before buying one. Check out these new ones, and even if you don’t like them. I think at that time you’ll get a better deal on the older model. I just hate for any of you to buy the older one now and have regrets.
I buckled & got the go1 recently for $500. I figured the new one would be getting over $800 mark and I wasn’t gonna spend that. Along with the ability to play games I also am a filmmaker so I can edit when I travel and use it as a tablet to watch stuff on. No regrets so far
Great video! The S looks cool and from what I’ve seen the legion go 2 has fixed some issues from the 1st. I just picked up my legion go a few months ago because of a major Best Buy sale… maybe I’ll pick up an S not sure…
Thanks for watching and the kind words! Glad you were able to get a good deal on your Legion Go. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the Legion Go S and seeing how good it is.
It feels so misplaced to me that these gaming handhelds even need to have a touch pad when you just can use the screen with a pen if supported or just use the d pad to navigate around the system. Do you feel like you're playing more games with those as opposed to a gaming laptop/PC or even a console?
Thanks for watching. after having used the Rog Ally and Legion Go since they came out in 2023, I have found that my favorite input is a cross between the two. For moving the cursor around Windows I like using the Legion Go’s trackpad the best. In terms of mouse click I like Asus’ Rog Ally’s method of using the right top triggers as left and right mouse click. I wouldn’t want to have to use another input device like a pen for these. I don’t have a gaming laptop/or Pc. I had a pc a long time ago. I now use mostly mac for productivity tasks like video editing. However I love these handhelds for their portability and they give me all the power I need to play the games I like and if I want to use any Windows apps.
I find it absolutely bonkers that they put both the headphone jack and the other USB port at the bottom for the legion go 2 since it comes with a kickstand. But I guess this is just an early prototype build. That would easily turn me away.
I like the dpad on the Legion Go S better than on the legion go. The dapd on the legion go s is similar to the rog ally X and I much prefer that for fighting games like Mortal Kombat.
I plan on getting the Legion Go S SteamOS version, but the thing is on their website for at least the Windows version right now says it would be 32gb of memory and a 1tb NVMe inside which i do hope it is a 2280 because 2TB drives that are 2230/2242 are not exactly that cheap and the reason i would need that much storage anyways is just because of the more demanding games i would like to play that my Steam Deck can't really handle.
I was hoping it would be at least 80 myself. We'll see how long it actually lasts when I get my hands on it. Maybe there's some optimization that makes the battery last longer?
@ only speculation at this point. We have yet to see anything on the new chips. Only time will tell but I still feel like we will only get like 2 hours of gameplay unplugged max which might be fine for some people. With the switch 2 coming out as well competition is fierce.
The new Go2 will not be cheap, that's for sure. I paid $550 for my Go1 and am glad I did. As good as these look, and they look fantastic, I'm not going to pay the $799-$899 they're likely to cost. I'll wait for a price drop.
I think the Go 2 will be over $1200. If the Legion Go Pro S (windows version) is $729, I can’t imagine the price being only a few hundred more. I hope I’m wrong.
@@digitalmaus I stand by my guess of $799-$899 for launch price for the top-end model with 32GBs. Unless you just got $$, waiting for a sale is the way.
@@Jason_P The GOs 32gb with Z2Go is listed for 800€ in the German Lenovo store. The Z1E may well cost 100 to 150€ more so the Go2 with its even bigger battery, the oled screen and so on is going to be well over 1000€ (all prices after tax here in ger)
My cousin abuses the LeGo joycon for a year round playing Tekken and I'm surprised that it's hold so long. If Lenovo could keep this kind of quality then I don't mind for a pricey LeGO 2
Thank you for the video! It is a very good overview of the Go S. I am looking into getting my first handheld -to supplement my main laptop and gaming desktop- for when I am commuting by train or taking a flight. The Go S is high on my list. Do you think spending an extra 150 euros for the 32GB and 1TB version is worth it? Or should one just go second hand with the original go?
I really can’t say until I have the final product in hand. Depending on how long your train ride/Flight is you may want to wait for the Go 2 or consider the ROG Ally X. Both have bigger batteries
The Go 2 is stated as having a release date of 2nd half of 2025 from one source and October from another. If that’s true, it will be outclassed and forgotten. They aren’t switch 2. They are in a specs race, and for 1.5x the price today, you can get a device that distantly outclasses what Lenovo will have closer to next year. Love the concept of what I’m seeing, but I only care this month.
It depends how you will be using your device do you mostly play while docked or with the charger plugged in? You can get an ADT-UT3G dock for less than $100, a decent GPU at least a RTX 3060 and a Power Supply all for under $500 and get more performance
steam os Legion go will work better and will be better to use. but windows version will be better if you want a more features especially if you travel and want your library to be with you from different PC stores.
Agreed. having used the Steamdeck and legion Go, I am very much looking forward to using the Legion Go S with steam OS and seeing how a Steamdeck with an 8” screen and better internals will perform.
Not gonna lie, if there's no Desktop mode, it'll be a deal breaker for me. I may play games in Game Mode, but I got to Desktop Mode LOT for other things. I don't only play games on Steam Deck, but use it like another computer. People may have their issues with Linux, but it's part of the Steam Deck experience.
Legion Go 2 will be the one to get, at least for me. The steam deck that i am currently using can't really run PoE2 or any UE5 game without dipping below 30FPS. Gaming on a desktop computer is just too uncomfortable in comparsion.
@@Jaguar-s7f you can not expect more on Early Acess game on a handheld pc. I tried on my X and the game working not well. I think need 3 more year for handheld to handle all the game like PC.

I hope the go 2 can fit a 2280 like the go s, that's an awesome feature. The only thing it's missing is a USB-A port for a mouse and keyboard dongle, or a little ms surface style keyboard cover. or both.
Controllers or joysticks? if you are talking about joysticks, I’ve never changed out the joysticks in my Legion Go but Amazon sells replacements for them. So you can replace the ones you have if you are having problems. I’m not sure if new controllers or joysticks would fit the old Legion Go or if Lenovo plans on selling them separately.
@@digitalmaus ah i see. I always liked switch design because if ur controler/joystick breaks u can just buy new one and just put it on without any trouble and i think it would be one of best legion go pro against other handhelds that has build in controllers.
The only thing that disappointed me about the Legion Go 2 build was that it didn't have the adjustable triggers like the S. They aren't necessary for me, but man that would have been sweet.

Lenovo Legion Go S sounds like the dream handheld. steam deck but with a better screen.

Go S doesn't have OLED, so it's debatable saying it haqs a better screen. Go 2 on the other hands does have OLED and even VRR.
