Girl, you had me in tears. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. This is why we love you though, cause it's real and we can all relate to the cake and the rolls. Easter is no my favorite holiday (long long story), but you made me smile and that's honestly hard to do for me during this time. Thank you sugar for all you do. You and your stay healthy and safe.
I laughed so hard at your cake segment! "Everything is falling apart in 2020!" Right?! lol Ahh, it was still delish I'm sure!
Kimmy, just a suggestion...when you're refilling something, like your flour, pour out the old remaining flour at the bottom of your container onto something, fill up with new flour, and pour the old flour on top, so it's not constantly the bottom. 👍🙂❤️
I love that you shared the cake anyway, we all have those flops sometimes. 😂 taste is what matters anyway. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Years from now, some of the best stories in your family will be about that cake you made during the pandemic... everyone will laugh but will be very thankful you made it.
I would just make that cake recipe in my long rectangular baking pan and call it a day.
This has been my favorite segment so far. You were just so darn cute about that cake. I would have thrown it out the kitchen window. You have the patience of Job! Blessing to you and your family! Praying for you to be healed from your anxiety.
Thank you
My husband is learning how to cook. He has gotten so creative and tried a lot of things. I never thought that this would happen. When something doesn't turn out really great, he is so disappointed, but I keep encouraging him. The way that I got good at it was that I did it imperfectly A LOT OF THE TIME. I just kept at it. My family enjoyed eating my mistakes for the most part, and we're getting through his less than perfect dinners and desserts. I'm just grateful that he's doing most of the cooking now. We all have those moments.
OK, so maybe your cake wasn't the prettiest, but it looked absolutely delicious and, at the end of the day, that's what matters. Have a great week.
Thank you for showing your not so picture perfect food. We all have times like this and if we are learning one thing in this crazy season, it is to roll with the punches.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Too many channels and influencers would have deleted all the footage and posted a sanitised video where everything is perfect. This is why we love you Kimmy! You are one of us!
I’d have chunked that cake into a glass bowl and pretended I had been aiming for a punch bowl cake all along. 🤣 Happy Easter 🐣
This is why I love watching you, if it goes not according to plan you just roll with it and show us that you're just like the rest of us. Sending prayers and love to your family.
I am rolling over here!Great to have a sense of humor.Thank you for sharing Kimmy. This was a much needed laugh.I would definitely try the cake, split and all.🤣😂
I love your attitude throughout your meal prep. You didn't let anything really throw you off. Maybe you did, but you were positive that you could still eat it and that's what mattered, because more importantly you were with family. Love it!
I loved your positive outlook. I loved hour you laughed it off... stuff like that happens in real life all the time and you taught us to embrace it
So glad you showed REAL COOKING! LOL.
There's not a cook alive or dead that hasn't made a delicious mess of it!
PEACE N BLESSINGS!
P.s I can't even get thru a text without having to edit it. Haha
loved it Kimmy great Easter video love the statue on your table it is Amazing.
Oh my gosh I am literally laughing out loud. Thank you for sharing.
Oh sweet Kimmy, I can’t stop laughing about the cake and rolls. This was the day when things just go wrong lol.
Thank you Kimmy for always being real.. Everything is not always perfect, bit that is okay. We are still so blessed! Hehe 🙌🏼🙌🏼 God bless you and your family!
Thanks for being real! That kinda stuff happens to everyone and I loved your “it is what it is” spirit about it. ❤️
We've always done our poke cakes in the rectangular pans it's so much easier. Then we do cool whip on top. It's so good!! I've made so many versions. But we let the cake only cool for 10 minutes and pour the hot jello on top. But you can use pudding too. I do a red velvet cheesecake version too 🤤
yoly507 recipe please? I’m familiar with the strawberry version but would love to know what you do for the red velvet!
thrifty_wife&momma _of2 it’s just red velvet cake mix in a rectangular pan. We alway let it cool for 10 minute then poke the holes it absorbs the jello or pudding better. So use cheesecake pudding pour over and spread it. Refrigerate for 30 minutes than spread cool whip on top and I add mini chocolate chips on top. I did this because I was in too much pain to make my red velvet cheesecake cake and who knew it was going to be a hit. You can do a trifle with all these ingredients too. I did a chocolate cake chocolate pudding version too also a hit.
I only named that cake in a 9x13, used wooden spoon end to create not too many holes, cake refrigerated and liquid cooled. I used 1/2 the syrup probably, and then chill in fridge and frost.😉I love that cake! Great idea to make lemon for spring!🌺
Thanks for making me laugh in a time when all I want to do is cry. Love you girl, thanks for sharing your cake mishap!
I am sorry it turned out a mess and not afraid to show it. I love your attitude about it all and you made me laugh today, which I needed.
Oh my goodness I am laughing so hard at the cake segment. Just hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. I sooooo needed that.
Yay for parchment paper and positivity!❤💐👏
And eating cake in the bathtub is a win, every single time!
Kim I love this video. Everything is so together in your home. To see some imperfections is so refreshing. I love love love you and your beautiful family.
I learned this trick from my daughter, when waiting for bread dough to rise, she heats 2 coffee mugs of water in the microwave till super hot, Then she puts her covered bowl of dough in the microwave and just closes the door. The warm moist environment doubles the dough in no time. We have used this method for many years now. Good luck. Love your videos!
Rosalie Fox - I do the microwave trick for my second rise, after shaping my loaves! For the first rise, I've taken to putting the dough in my pressure cooker on the 'yogurt' setting. Works great and proofs in half the time!
My Grandmother use to say the ugly cakes taste the best! Thank you for the laugh I really needed it!
The Easter dinner looks delicious!!! I loved the cake- all us mommas needed that right now 😉.
You're so brave!!! I have up baking layered cakes decades ago. I use a large baking pan and leave the cake in it, then I frost it. That's it!!! Blessings to you and your family
If covid was a cake... 😂
Exactly! 😂😂
Happy Easter! I learned my lesson about decorated cakes years ago. I always make them in a rectangular glass pan now. The cake stays in the pan so it doesn't get the opportunity to fall apart. It cools in the pan, it gets decorated in the pan and it gets served in the pan. The clear pyrex glass pan goes with everything so no worries about matchy-matchy. I also make pound cakes, also one pan wonders. My Mother was the cake decorator, I obviously missed thar gene! lol When the cake fell apart on you, I thought get a can of fruit cocktail, berries or filling and layer it in a trifle bowl with the leftover icing! lol
That cake! Thanks for being such a good sport and giving us all the giggles...I bet it tasted amazing
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....well at least the cake tasted good. It looks like it was delicious. Happy Easter to you and your family.
Eating cake in the bathtub, yep we could be friends.
This year we all deserve to eat cake in the tub. Makes me think Tina Fey could make an SNL sketch out of that idea.
You Kimmy are the number 1 channel for freezer meal's and so many other delicious yummy recipes and information and ideas and tip's THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING
Thank you so much for the lemon cake recipe!! Today is my son's 29th birthday and he wanted a lemon cake for his birthday, because he is sick and tired of chocolste and lemon is his favorite!! I could not find a lemon cake, so I got a yellow cake and I just sent my husband to the store to get the jello, pudding and cool whip. Hopefully they will have it!! I do have the other stuff. I hope I can make it for my son's birthday cake!! What a GREAT idea you gave me for him!! Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will let you know if I can make it or not, depending on what my husband can get at the store!! I am sure he can get those items, but who knows in these times right now!! Again THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might have been a life saver and make my son happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I made the cake and it came out pretty good!! Although the top layer ripped a tiny bit, sort of like yous, but not as bad!! The ocing was a bit thick, so I had to add a bit of milk to it. But it was really yellow where yours came out white. But it was the lemon my son was looking for and he LOVED it, so THANK YOU so very much for the recipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It saved the day for my son"s 29th birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sure we have all had that experience with a cake, it's all good just eat and enjoy. My father always said the best cake my mother ever made was a yellow cake she put chocolate on that fell apart and the chocolate ran down through th cake and it was delicious. Love and Blessings.
"I'm going to eat this in the bathtub." You keep me laughing, Kimmie!
I laughed so much at the cake disaster. Thank you you for sharing real life with us.
😂 I’d have thrown the cake in a trifle bowl. Bless us all as we keep doing our best.♥️
Cake was probably extra delish! Thank you, stay safe!
Cracked up laughing! Thank you!
Thanks for posting that video! You were absolutely right that it was 2020 epitomized. I love that you showed though that even for professionals, cooking just sometimes goes wrong.
I here ya girlfriend I've been trying to master the art of Sourdough bread...so far Bread 2 Diane 0 maybe i could go into making food inspired door stops 😊 Hope everyone is safe and sound Hoppy Easter to everyone!!
Thank you for keeping Easter real!!
That poor cake is so sad but it has provided some much needed entertainment for this bizarre Easter 🍋
I love that you just soldiered on and kept it real!!! This is a great video, thanks xx
I’m so glad I’m not the only one that everything happened to yesterday. You had me laughing so much.
Love your Vlog have a wonderful and blessed day and thank you
Even the cakes aren't listening in 2020!! lol I was laughing so hard with you. But it all goes in the tummy so all good!!
I love it that you can laugh and show us the mess ups that we all have, and this year more than most.lol
I really enjoy your videos. I love how real they are! I love the background sounds, makes me feel part of the kitchen. Thank you for making these videos.
When my sister first got married, she had some epic recipe fails. She made my dad a chocolate pie, but she did not let the filling get thick enough. My sweet daddy said to just give him a straw and he would be fine. We have definitely all been there.
I so enjoyed your video. It’s nice to know that we all can laugh and share these kinds of moments. I’m sure that this will be a talking point for many years in the future if your family is any thing like mine. It’s fun to recall mistakes that we have made, salt instead of sugar in brownies, graduation cake falling on kitchen floor while walking to table ,in the future. Not so much when they are happening
THE CAKE JUST GOES TO PROVE YOU ARE "NORMAL" I'M A BAKER BUT, I'VE HAD MY SHARE OF BLOOPERS TOO! :)
Boy have i ever, i even made fried chicken once when i was first married that the coating was heavier than the chicken pieces, it was so thick than 25 yrs later and a divorce, my first husband still laughs about it. And probably his new wife too! 😂🤣😂🤣💕💕
Next time anyone ruins a cake you're so right make it a triffle! Just pick a non clear bowl so layering doesn't matter, make the top look niceish and BOOM. You didn't ruin a cake you made a beautiful triffle. Totally intentionally the whole time. I'm totally not speaking from experience or anything. 😉
Just love your personality 💕 I haven’t laughed that hard in a while 😂🤣 🍰 thanks for the smiles!! ✨✨
Kimmy I sure APPRECIATE you. you sure help people like me WHO CANNOT COOK THANK YOU SO MUCH
I hope you had a wonderful Easter Hughes family!! ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Double layer of foil over the ham and then a folded bath towel....works really well in place of a lid when the ham's too tall. I've done it with leg of lamb too because I do it from frozen and as it thaws I can push it down and then usually get the lid on.
The cake .... so funny and you kept making funny faces. Love it! You are so enjoyable to watch.
With the rolls. It seems maybe the yeast didn’t bloom fully. When I don’t let it bloom fully and get super foamy, it takes FOREVER to rise
Also, if you add a lot of sugar in the dough it inhibits the yeast rather than helping it - maybe try again with a larger amount of yeast and also maybe warming up the pinapple juice to there is more liquid.
Meeloy Blogs that’s what I was thinking
I let my breads rise in my oven after I have heated it ever so slightly, works every time!
I agree. I also put my dough in the oven with the light on. Works everytimr
I also find when blooming yeast, dont use a ton of sugar. I only add a little bit of the sugar to the water and yeast mixture. Once it blooms, then I add the rest.
Love your tablescape! "I'm going to eat this in the bathtub" I was rolling!
We haven’t had an oven in over 3 years here at this rental and my kids would take that cake u baked on any given day! Love love watching u. So much fun.
I miss my real oven too. Our rental doesn't have one either and we've been using a toaster oven.
So entertaining and it all looked so yummy🌼
Idk why but I always love the fall apart “failed” cakes lol 😂
I literally love you & your attitude lol I would’ve just cried as I frosted the cake 😂 & the sweet sweet love you & Derek have is just so (for lack of a better word) MUCH that can feel it through the screen ❤️ I’m praying you all stay well & blessed & I appreciate you sooooo much! Thank you for putting a smile on my face with every single video. I absolutely love you!
Thank you so much!!
We have all had the cake thing happen to us; definitely gonna give this cake a try. Glad y’all had a great Easter
Oh my gosh .... I LOVED this video! Thank you for being real ... and for the giggle :)
As long as it tastes good that is all that matters. My mom made fudge we had to eat with a spoon. Tasted like fudge.
Kimmy: "If you buy an instant pot just to do the eggs, it's so worth it."
Christine: "Buy an instant pot! Even if it's just to cook beans in."
If you know, you know. 😉😉
I'll ditto the eggs, too! They peel SO EASY!!
@@FrugalFitMom 😲🙌😄 So awesome to see you here!! I love it!
I’m scared it will explode! I’ve heard terrible stories about pressure cookers 😬
Wendy Chappell I’m really scared of pressure cookers.
We had one when I was a child & when the whistle thing on the top went off the noise was really scary, in fact I wouldn’t even go in to the kitchen.
Julie Tann I know right and my grandma had a friend that had one and hers exploded in her face. I’d rather watch eggs boil for 20 minutes than risk getting shot in the face with a pressure cooker!
When you showed the cake after frosting I thought “ just throw it in a trifle bowl”
Erin Corshia 😂
I thought that exact thing!!
I thought that too.. yummy
Hi Kimmy, Happy Easter, your food looked good and don’t worry the cake looked Yummy. I bet everything was delicious . Thank you for always sharing with us. God bless you and your family always 🙏❤️😘👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Your lemon cake and you gave us a giggle today while we watched you. Have a great day and thank you for all the laughs and smiles! You are a sweetheart and we love your family! Jon and Paula from Michigan.
Great video. Your cake!!! It really hung in there! Everything looked so delicious.
That cake looked absolutely delicious and I could almost taste the lemon. Thank you for not putting on a "perfect" video, and staying real. We all make mistakes. That is how we learn, right?! Happy Easter a little late. You were right about all things falling apart in 2020. What a year!!!! This too shall pass, but you have an Easter Cake to remember and talk about for years to come. 💙🙏✝
You are HILARIOUS. Hey things happen in the kitchen. Love you!!!! 😀😀😀
Happy Belated Easter!!! Stay well!!! Love you all and your channel!!!
thanks for getting this together for us. I have been there with a cake and many more desserts. I laughed with you.
I love how down to earth and real you are. A lot of people would have never shared that cake with the world but you did. Lemon is my fav I bet it tasted delicious.
Love that it went wrong with the cake but you let us come right along with you. It looked delicious and I'm sure it was.
Happy Easter and stay safe!
Ok so I bake both professionally and at home and the reason your rolls didn’t puff up is because: when you pour that warm water (110f) into that cold stainless steel bowl it instantly cooled that water down and your water needs to be warm enough to wake up the yeast. Next time fill your stainless bowl up with hot water and empty it out before adding your water and yeast. Cold temperatures make yeast rise very very slowly and unevenly!
Thank you
Looks so good! Great job!
Someone who's real, mistakes and all, just like me. Now that's a cook I like to watch!
LOL the cake! Real life Kimmie. Love your channel!👍
Thank you so much for always keeping it real 😊
lol...that is the cutest cake I ever saw! :) Hey, it's the taste that counts! Real life!
That cake looks delicious😍
Hope you had a blessed Easter.
Easter Blessings, xx Your cake looked yummy xx love from the UK xx
Was watching and enjoying your video. Was drinking a cup of coffee and you brought up your lemon cake and I literally had just taken a drink of my coffee at that exact moment and I busted out laughing and I sprayed coffee EVERYWHERE.... I was laughing so hard. This has never happened before. I know I've had my own bad baking experiences. But I know that it still tasted good and your family enjoyed it. I luv your video's , please keep them coming, we all especially need a good laugh at this time.
Thank you for laughing about the cake! I think I might have cried. Will def remember your reaction the next time I have a situation in my kitchen like that!!! God bless!!!
I love your video's. So raw and funny. Great food. I'm getting in my kitchen and making the rolls
As long as the cake tastes good, it’s ok. I’m still laughing!
This was so funny. I would've been in tears. Lol.
We had homemade sweet potatoes yesterday! They only problem was, we made a whole bag of sweet potatoes - and it wasn't enough! Boo! lol!
When we make jell-o cake, we make it in a 9x13 and leave it in pan!
Me too, on the cake front! That way you don't have to remove it! lol
