  • Come with me to pick up our frozen beef from the butcher! We buy a grass-fed whole cow every year from the same local farmer. We eat 90% meat and the occasional veggies from our garden. A whole cow will last about a year for the two of us. I'll show you how I organize it and how much finished beef we actually get with a list of each cut and lbs. per cut.
    Our cow's live weight was 928lbs., the hanging weight was 521lbs. and our finished beef is 291.6lbs in the freezer.

      I would love to replace the current chest freezer with a second stand up... Especially for when our beef gets down to the bottom 🤪🤣

      I am uncertain to what you're asking. Are you wanting to know how much less for a half a cow versus a whole cow? And are you referring to pounds or cost? If you could clarify, I'll do my best to answer 😁

    Where did you buy your cow? Looking around for a local source

      We are in the Treasure Valley, capital side of Idaho. You should be able to call your local butcher, they might be able to get you in touch with a local farmer or even sell straight from their facility 🙂 We also wanted a pig but our farmer didn't have them available. Our butcher sourced them and sold one to us.

      oh gosh, you know....I would need to get permission from them to give out that information 🤔 Are you looking for someone to buy beef from? In the Idaho, Treasure Valley Area?

    How do you cook the frozen meat??

    • @home-ness
      @home-ness  9 днів тому

      Usually it is thawed and then cooked but we have an insta pot that I can put any frozen meat into (usually a roast) and it will cook it perfectly 👌
