Wow that’s awesome! Got mine ordered after seeing you guys talking about it on Twitter yesterday so I’m looking forward to trying it out! Nice one guys!
Loading times were definitely the thing that caught my attention about this - I think it was one of the chats with Saturndave you did and he mentioned it. Hadn’t occurred to me it might be better - and would def value it! Saroo on the way! - bedgell
We could have had such quick loading if Sega of America's management never pushed for making the 32X and thus the Sega Saturn cartridge slot would have also been used for specific ROM Cartridge games... that cannot happen if you have a 32X confusing consumers and developers.
@apollosungod2819 aye. All those 32X's taking up chips and dev time. I do like a fair bit of the library but most of them would've gone to Saturn anyway.
@@TheRetroMartin The thing is that if the Sega of America proposal for 32X had been fully shut down from the moment it was being pushed behind the scenes in late 1993, then there is no question that 100 percent of Sega Enterprises LTD Japan headquarter's hardware engineers would only have to worry about the Project Saturn... the manufacturing etc it would not be a problem unlike the problem of making the 32X because during 1993 gamer magazine articles Tom Kalinske kept claiming that he would not sell a $400 dollar console and that was too expensive when that was a topic he never should have been allowed to talk about in the first place.
Be aware that I got a Saroo and it gives me lots of sound issues in every game after a while. Burried on the internet is the detail that it happens supposedly depending on your saturn model...
Yeah, it’s a minefield in terms of sellers on AliExpress, some use older/repurposed chips and some use new chips. The seller we bought from has sold over 250 of them and has 5* feedback, plus they use new chips and their cart connector has beveled edges, so fingers crossed these last a good length of time.
@@craigwilliamson6344 This is the one we went for mate, new chips (not repurposed) and the cart has bevelled edges on the connector. The only game I’ve had issue with so far is X-Men COTA but there’s a config file that sits on the SD card you can edit and there’s someone actively testing games and updating the config file with read speed amendments (you can adjust them on a game by game basis using that config file). I’m working on a set up video so that’ll hopefully help a lot of our viewers too. a.aliexpress.com/_ExDRc89
I replied to @carllavery4442 with the link to the seller hours before you left this comment. This is the ones we bought. New chips, not repurposed and the cart has beveled edges. a.aliexpress.com/_EGPeXIl

It’s not perfect (music dropouts / weird frame dropouts / ram cart games randomly doing weird things) but it works well for a lot of titles, especially the more common ones. If you’re into shmups or a high level 2D fighter fan, you’re gonna be better if with the original discs for now. Well worth buying overall though.
Right. Some titles are completely out of reach for most people because of the eye-watering prices. This channel is great btw guys, love the passion, the content, and the consistent output. Thank you!

The Virtua Fighter music are still awesome !
Got a Saroo earlier this year. I am completely ASTONISHED by its performance

Man we could only dream of such quick loading in the 32bit era and beyond (not counting the 32X) can't wait to get mine through!

@apollosungod2819 aye, I'm aware. A shame back in the day everybody just fully blamed SoJ instead of knowing the whole story properly as we do now.
Just got my Saroo and am loving it. Got itnon a CRT sonI can play my light gun games too
I just got flashbacks to your room playing vs mode...why did i keep charging at you when you crouched...why 😂

Where did you buy yours from? Also is there a site which shows the compatability? I'm definitely in the market for one of these

Is this faster than the satiator?
Where’d you get yours?

Yeah, if you want 100% compatibility and don’t have pockets deep enough to pay collectors for physical copies, spend €90 on a Fenrir.
