Definitely appreciate the backstories of these locations! Most native New Yorkers wouldn't know. I thought Five Points was in the financial district all this time. Probably one of my fave videos on your channel thus far.
Your insights and thoughtful commentary make your vids worthwhile to watch---sets them well above the ordinary NYC walk-n-talks out there. Thanks for caring enough to do such consistently good work. Much appreciated.
He does a pretty good job here. I used to go to Chintown on Sundays with my parents in the sixties. My grandparents had a restaurant caddy corner form Bryant park on 42nd. st. They also owned part of Port Arthur restaurant in Chinatown. It was located right above Chinatown fair where all the kids who play games. My grandfather had his funeral at the big church in Chinatown. That church he shows is where his funeral was. All my cousins knew Chinatown well. It is also much larger than it was in the 1960's. My grandmother was the best bootlegger in NY and Chinatown.
As immigrant kid from HK growing up in Chinatown, this brought back memories and you did a good job dude, pretty spot on with the finer points of the neighborhood.....thks! Greatly appreciated from a kid from the old neighborhood......
I am going to NYC for the first time next month and am watching these types of videos to familiarize myself with the area. You are the best tour guide I have run across and I cannot believe you only have 62K subscribers. Your witticisms and knowledge is on point. Keep up the grind and great work! As a side note, I was going to tag Aji Ichiban as a place to visit and am sad to see that it is permanently closed. Edit: speeling iz hard
SO glad I found your videos, Tom! Was looking for a good virtual walking tour of some of my favorite NY neighborhoods for my GF and I on this chilly winter day. Yours are encyclopedic in their information, hilarious and so well thought out. Really well shot and edited as well. I come away wiser and with an eager anticipation of walking them in real life once the weather gets warmer again ... but this time I will appreciate them with even more context! Looking forward to watching the rest, You have found your calling, Tom ... f%^K the law! You are doing far more good for humanity by making us appreciate what's around us! Travel Channel, Discover, PBS ... Someone give this man and his crew their own show!!
love your comments at 16:30ish onwards regarding energy and fresh passionate ideas that builds this so ever culturally diverse city if NYC. And thanks for making these vids of NYC. Kudos man!
Hello Tom! I love this kind of videos, although I understand 90% of what you say because Spanish is my native language. I still enjoy these videos and walk the city with you. Hugs from Argentina❤️
If ur in the neighborhood go to wo hop it’s a really snug basemnt Chinese restaurants with pictures everywhere and amazing when I went someone told me they flew all the way from Los Angeles just to eat the food again
Hey! Thanks for yet another really interesting video! Have you thought about maybe making them around 10 mins long, so you won't be freezing😱 by the end and more people could afford to watch them from start to finish? I would have watched Chinatown - Walking Tour part 2, ... part3, part4...:)
Thanks so much! I'm still tinkering with the format and length. I'll let you know when I release my tour of every block of NYC - it will be 127 hours long and you will want to cut your arm off.
@@tomdnyc1 thanks, sorry about that wild commet .. I was not paying attention ! But i do like your video's and like the longer ones.. No need to entertain us jyst be yourself and it will all work 😂
Thank you for the tour! My kids decided when we visit NYC we have to go to Aji Ichiban! We will only have a little time in NYC, anyone have any more suggestions for where we should visit? I wanted to visit Ferrara’s in Little Italy but your video of the neighborhood said it’s super touristy :( Should we still go?
