What is this all about? I got here because of the economist 2019 cover - I punched in this number 7172718839 and it brought me to 2 videos. One about the IMF International Monetary Fund and this one. Weirdest thing ever...
Song hits even more harder when you realize its been 6 years.... I still remember watching this on repeat back in 2017 when vaporwave was getting popular, i used to listen to this in middle school,when the only thing i used to worry about was to make sure i didnt forgot my walkman and my earphones at home. Now here i am, watching and listening to this masterpiece after 6 years , it just hits hard.

I had a portable CD player in 2013 and couldn't afford a smart phone, so I'd carry around a bunch of CDs in my backpack and listen to them on the way to and back from school. Shit was outdated but worked wonders. I remember secretly listening to nirvanas nevermind album on that CD player at a school assembly. Things were rough when you couldn't afford the shiny new stuff all the other kids had. Still don't regret it though cuz the memories I had were meaningful looking back.
when this came out i was 18, no friends, no life, looking desperately forward to graduating school and starting out a new life at uni - nvm how this turned out (not how i imagined), but ironically enough now i feel nostalgic listening to this and missing the times when I'd fall down weird internet rabbitholes just cause i had nothing better to do. Felt like shit then but looking back it feels like there was something special about that time. This song used to make me feel so weird but i found it so alluring at the same time. Still get chills coming back to it now.

However my Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and passed away in May, a month later my little brother was diagnosed with leukemia just like me and is fighting it with strong chemo. The doctors claim we have a defect in our DNA which caused all 3 men in our family to get cancer- me and my brother where lucky we caught it early enough but my dad was pushing 60 and wasn't able to respond to the chemotherapy. The doctors are certain my brother will beat it and have to take oral chemo everyday like me for the rest of his life. We all have our burdens to bare and this is ours, I just hope if I have kids in the future they won't have to deal with this. I hope to have a better year in 2022 P.S Everyone reading this should go get themselves checked for cancer by the age of 25 if you're not already screened

I'm the total opposite. I've been treated for all my life as the child of the class because of my shortness, and now that I'm just as tall as everyone else I feel like I'm not worthy of anything. When this song came out I had just started high school. My fakily was broke, marriage was a disaster, we had no money, no car, almost lost the house, i had no friends and was the dumbest kid ever. I'm the total opposite. I've been treated for all my life as the child of the class because of my shortness, and now that I'm just as tall as everyone else I feel like I'm not worthy of anything. My mom non giving me responsibilities sibilities didn't help either. I'm just 16 almost 17 now, hopefully this "inferiority complex" will fade away with time.

When this song came out I had just started high school. My fakily was broke, marriage was a disaster, we had no money, no car, almost lost the house, i had no friends and was the dumbest kid ever. Saw no future in my life. Used to spam simpsonwave on my way to echool on the bus.
Now after 8 years i have a work, i have built a pc with my own money, have a brother who i support, i fixed most problems in my family, and i have a goal in my life. Its far, very far, but im studying and working to achieve it.
