      Here is the Horn I got for now. Again, it's not as loud as the Denali Sound Bomb Compact but it is a quick fix and a cheap one. I may still go Denali Soundbomb Compact later down the line but for now this one did the trick. www.ebay.com/itm/SICKSPEED-SINGLE-BLACK-SUPER-LOUD-COMPACT-ELECTRIC-BLAST-TONE-HORN-CAR-12V-P1/371867578411?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

      I just called them and scheduled a date for March 27. They are pretty busy already and that was the first available date they had available. They can't work with the extended reach seat but they can move you either forward or back an inch with the Standard Reach Seat that came standard on the bike. The only mod for that Vulcan S seat is the Double Layer Memory Foam. Which depending on your height and weight they will use different density of memory foam. Since I am 260 lbs and 6'1" they will use two layers of a stiffer foam than lets say a person that weighs 150 lbs. They customize it to your size and weight. Again, the only mod for our seat pan is the Double Decker Memory foam mod for $175. Once your seat is scheduled it will be done on that day and shipped the very next. I have the extended reach seat to ride on until the Standard Reach seat comes back to me. Hopefully it will be a worthwhile mod. Some guys on the Vulcan S forum had it done and love it. So I guess I am taking the plunge. I will let you know in April how the seat is after breaking it in a bit.

    The seat! I totally found that out the hard way. I'm a new Vulcan S owner this year and I commuted on it for a few weeks before putting 600 miles on it over two days riding Virginia's "Claw of the Dragon". OMG...The pain, red marks, etc. I couldn't ride again for days.

    Totally agree! The seat is the most uncomfortable part of the Vulcan S. Sending mine to Mean City Cycle to get modified. I personally don't mind the Catalytic Converter underneath the bike. You can't really see it. I am going to modify the stock exhaust for better but not obnoxious sound level. I don't believe that Loud Pipes save lives. They just annoy people and over very little time cause hearing loss. Since the exhaust is pointed back the only people that really are going to hear you are the people behind you, The guy 200 feet in front texting in his cage won't even notice you. That said, I do think the Vulcan S sounds like a Singer Sewing Machine so I am totally for modifying the exhaust to get some respect on the road. It is extremely easy to mod your stock exhaust without upsetting the fine balance of the air fuel mixture which goes to hell after installing any aftermarket exhaust. Plus if you drill and tap the holes the modification is reversible and to an extend tuneable for sound and loudness. Let's see doing a $20 Dollar mod that doesn't make my bike run lean and possibly overheat and cause detonation and pre-ignition or a $300-700 Dollar obnoxiously loud aftermarket exhaust that you need to throw at another $300 dollars in form of a power commander just to balance the fuel mixture. Okay, the younger crowd will choose the later since the louder your exhaust the faster the bike feels ;-). Totally agree on the crappy horn. Switched mine to a SickSpeed Single Blaster 118db disk horn. Still a Beep Beep horn but a heck of a lot louder than the tiny meep meep stock horn. Also it literally took 5 minutes to install. Easy one bolt swap in the stock location. Plug and play with the stock connections. Not as loud as the Denali Soundbomb compact but for 16 bucks it was a worth while upgrade. You forgot Number 4 which for me was the Number 1 or first Modification I did to my Vulcan S. And that is adding mirror extenders to the most awful mirrors of any bike I have ever ridden. All I could see is shoulders. It's a gripe that 99.9% of all Vulcan S riders have. The other 0.01% are Stick Figures which can see just fine. But since I am not Mario or Luigi, the first thing I did to my Vulcan S is add nice looking Mirror extenders which solved a HUGE safety issue with this bike. Now I can finally see what's going on behind and to the side of me. Thanks for posting your very informable videos. I enjoy them immensely. Keep up the good work! ;-)

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for the info Thomas! I should have mentioned the mirrors, totally forgot! I actually got mine adjusted so that I can see really well, and I'm a pretty stocky guy. Eventually I would like to get even better mirrors though. I will look into modifying the exhaust, as I would rather do it myself than waste money on a whole new setup with a $400 power commander, but I do like the sound of the Danmoto 2-1.

    Very well put together sir! As far as the seat goes, the extended reach seat is SO much better then the mid reach. It can be hard to find, as the extended reach are usually out of stock, but they are well worth the $ if you can find one. I didn't need the extended in terms of fit but after 2 years of mid reach I found a extended and swapped them out. There's an extra gel pad in the extended seat that makes it much more tolerable on the long rides.

    Motoblade, 1). The stock seat is an insult to the motorcycle seat world! MUST replace it!
    2). The exhaust underneath is a catalytic converter-weighs 24lbs replace it and you get rid of 12lbs of worthless weight! Definitely get it remapped afterwards to make it run fuel efficiently!
    3). That-joke of a-horn MUST be replaced! Yes, Denali makes a 124 decible sound bomb horn-GET IT!
    Outside of these 3 jokes on this motorcycle, it's a great ride! For a "starter", or a first bike. It'ss a smart investment that will pay for itself nicely! You hit the bullseye with your observational picks Motoblade, good call and very relavent! Doug🏍️👍🤓

    It is worth mentioning that Vulcan S has a parallel-twin engine instead of a V-twin design, and therefore, it has very different control riding characteristics. When I go to very light throttle, it gets a slight vibration/shudder. Not really lugging motor and it will accelerate fine. The Vulcan S simply doesn’t like “light throttle “. It likes to be wound out and shifted around 5000 rpm. I wanted to shift at 2000 rpm and ride at 2500 to 3000 rpm and Vulcan S engine doesn’t like that (shudder and vibrate). I now shift at 4500 to 5000 rpm and cruise around 5000 rpm. It just takes some getting used to (for those who used to ride a V-twin bike).

    • @ThomasRSmith-og7zo
      @ThomasRSmith-og7zo 7 років тому +1

      I have to disagree with you on the Danmoto. It is by far the loudest exhaust for the Vulcan S. Plus you can't quiet it down either since you can't put in a aftermarket baffle. At least the Two brothers has a Baffle that you can put in at an extra cost. I knew a guy that got the Danmoto and took it off after 3 days of riding since it was so damn loud even for him. But I am sure you are young and will have plenty of opportunity to learn from your mistakes. However, please if you do get the Danmoto or any Aftermarket exhaust do yourself a favor and wear earplugs while riding. It will save your hearing. Ask me how I know. Long time rider here that always thought the louder the exhaust the better. Well, you won't think that 10 years down the road. Good Luck on what ever you decide. Just don't ignore the warnings and be smart about it. Even partial hearing loss can never be recovered.

    • @ThomasRSmith-og7zo
      @ThomasRSmith-og7zo 7 років тому

      You don't really need a dyno tune. If you get any aftermarket exhaust and the $300 dollar Power Commander just use the Two Brothers map which works with most of the aftermarket exhausts. You can fine tune it from there if you like. A dyno tune will give you the best fuel mix ratio but isn't 100% needed. Keep in mind that adding any aftermarket exhaust will cost you some low end torque in exchange for a couple of ponies on the top end. Top speed is limited to 115mph regardless what you do to the bike.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  7 років тому

      I plan on wearing ear plugs when I get the new exhaust. I am very careful about my hearing protection as I am an firearm collector and range nut :) The Vulcan S is just so insanely quiet as it is, I can't even hear it myself sometimes and I sitting on the darn thing! Thanks for the heads up, I thought I saw a baffle for the Danmoto, but perhaps I was mistaken. I will look into it.

      Got a lot of good compliments from all types of riders. Some noticed and complimented the sound immediately without me telling them. It was costly and it will probably be the only most expensive and most important thing that I’m going to do. My horsepower had increased 54 to almost 60 HP.
      Bike sounds good and runs great.
      Fuel mileage is up from 47-49 mpg, depending on how hard you ride. It actually increased after the tune.
      It was well worth the expense for my baby. I’ve become to appreciate the bike more as I ride. The sound really made me feel like I’m riding a bike and also knowing that the bike is in good health at it’s at full peak.
      I’m a new rider and I had difficulties switching gears while riding on the noisy highway cause I couldn’t hear the bike’s motor........Just got the bike new and I was over revving in some gears. I recommend doing this mod after your first one thousand mile. This is what I was told by many mechanics I spoke with.

The size was about 3 times larger tho so i had to swing it a bit to fit with the factory bracket.. as far as the seat, i bought the extended reach seat which is pretty damn nice compared to the other seat which just baffles me why they wouldnt be the same quality with different lip positions.. pipes i went with IXIL and dear lord ive never been happier. The Danmoto and Two Brothers exhausts are absurdly loud... Almost obscenely loud. Put the 2 Bros on my friend's bike and he immediately went to buy earplugs. He's already trying to figure out how to quiet it down some. He refuses to ride any time between 10pm and 10am because he doesn't want to disturb his neighbors. Can hear it clearly over heavy traffic at least 1/2 mile away and I can hear him a couple miles away on a quiet night near my house. Not good since he lives less than 1/2 mile from a police station.... And the Danmoto is louder.
    Keep in mind, I've played in metal bands off and on for nearly 2 decades (my amp is a 1200 watt Ampeg SVT4) and he's a drummer in his early 20s; so neither of us are strangers to loud things.
    For exhausts, the most sane aftermarket one is the Arrow Rebel, but it's stupid expensive ($900+). The Delkevic 21" (550mm) is probably the cheapest ($400) that is quieter than the Danmoto and 2Bros, but it's still pretty damn loud. Some people drill holes in their muffler for more noise. I cut open a muffler, removed half the cat, redirected the exhaust flow, and replaced the 1" tailpipe with a 1.75" tip. It made the exhaust's deeper tones a bit louder while still muffling the higher pitches. Overall, it's a little bit louder than stock, but nowhere near as loud as the aftermarket ones I've heard.
    Cheapest way to add more fuel is with a Booster Plug. I got mine off Ebay from the manufacturer in Denmark. $160 and it adds roughly 6% more fuel across the board. It helps even with the stock exhaust since the factory tune is quite lean.

      Martin Carter I don't need something insanely loud, I just think others should hear you to know you're there since your visibility on a bike is not good. I wanted to put a train horn on this thing, but the compressor would've taken up an entire saddlebag :)

    Good vid MBlade. I have the white one and love it. I think what need to be changed is the turn signal unit. The non self cancelling sucks. My first few rides of owning it were terrible, cos I kept forgetting to hit the switch. Also, I've put Delkevic exhaust on mine and it's loud ( baffle's in ). The whole set up was under $600 at my dealer. No power commander needed w/ any Delkevic exhaust unless one wants it. Ride safe Bro.

    Sadly, Vulcan is available in India only in Matte Black (which is too dull and boring) and Orange (too bright and colorful).., So the 4th thing (first in my priority list) that has to change for me is the Color !!

      MOTOBLADE Having watched tons of UA-cam videos on Vulcan which are loaded with positive reviews, I know that it is a great bike.., but I’m not sure if It’s worth spending $10000 (that’s how much a Vulcan costs in India) on a dull, Matte black Motorcycle ! I’m hoping against hope that 2019 will see new colors in India (which hasn’t seen too many Vulcans on road so far)

    Speaking of safety have you given any thought to upgrading headlight to an LED headlight? I think that will be my next upgrade, but I got to say I do like the Viking bags you got. Not sure which to do first or maybe both at once.I have the blue & black Vulcan S like on the photos on the Viking bags website.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  7 років тому

      Kelly Zabriskie I have thought about the headlight. It's plenty bright for the little bit of rare night riding I do. I will upgrade it eventually, but I have not found anything I like as a replacement yet. I love my Viking bags. Check out my review and install videos on those bags for a closer look. They are super handy to have!

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  6 років тому +1

      tonichi Uy I know the driver seat isn't comfy, but I've heard the passenger pillion has more padding, so it may be more comfortable for longer rides. I'd definitely get a sissy bar with a back rest for longer passenger rides.

  • @genegoodwin8925
    @genegoodwin8925 Рік тому

    I've owned 18 motorcycles and my back side gets tired after an hour and a half to two hours on any of them. On my current ride I took my seat to a Upolstry shop in my home town and had gel pads installed on the driver's and passenger's seat and it only costs me $250. It was money well spent because now I can go three to four hours without stopping.
    As far as the loud pipes save lives. I believe this is nonsense. I've heard many motocycles go by and can't hardly hear them until they have passed me. And then they just about broke my ear drums because they were running straight pipes. My point is the noise is mainly behind the motorcycle. I guess these loud pipes might save lives if you were to be traveling backwards about 60 mph. But going foward I don't think loud pipes will help you much and I've ran two wheelers almost 400,000 miles and trikes 36,000 miles.

    hi this is the first time iv watched your vids and I like. to add my humble opinion I agree with all you have said, I live in uk and even on the relatively short 70 mile trip to the coast I get numb bum. just to add another brand to the list of exhaust pipes available I fitted delkavic full system for £450 (which do not require any remap as they have been developed with the assistance of kawasaki) which initially I thought a lot of money but now I think it was well worth the money but they do a few styles of end can that are more suited to the style of a cruiser- check them out

    Most bikes have shitty sounding horns. That "beep beep" crap is just not very effective. There are also many after market horns that are better/louder and do much better than the stock horn.
