  • In this talk, Erik Garcia will discuss the latest developments in identifying a non-opioid receptor target to suppress opioid reward and opioid value. Dr. Garcia’s latest research indicates that the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor is a viable target, but this may depend on biological sex and early life developmental environments.
Dr. Erik Garcia is a behavioral neuroscientist and neuropharmacologist. His research identifies individual-level predictors that govern the development of substance use disorders. Dr. Garcia aims to bridge the gap between preclinical discoveries and meaningful clinical outcomes to aid people in their path toward substance use recovery. Most importantly, he is a firm believer and advocate for diversity, inclusion, and mentoring scientists.
This talk is sponsored by the Rural Drug Addiction Research (RDAR) Center, and it is an installment within their Seminar Series.
