2022 Freightliner Cascadia Lights Alert and Fix

- This issue is trailer related. When this happens do a walk around to locate the issue. This could be an air leak, tire issue, or air going to trailor tandem. If the tandem doesn't slide this is an issue that needs to be fixed.

Had similar problem. Would lite up after hitting bumps. Turned out to be a pin fitment issue with abs module under fuse box on passenger side.
I had the similar problem with my truck
Following is step by step how I figured out my problem
I’m not telling you to use the same method (do your own research ) mind the safety
I went into Diagnostics on your dash
Went down to Active Alerts
Selected ABS alert
Press ok to get detailed info
So it told me that Fault is in “wheel 6 ABS sensor” Ot “Wheel F ABS sensor”
Wheel 6 or wheel F is passenger side rear most wheel.
For example
Wheel 1 or A is driver side front wheel
Wheel 2 or B is passenger side front wheel
Wheel 3 or C is driver side front wheels of drive axle
Wheel 4 or D is passenger side front wheels of drive axle
Wheel 5 or E is driver side rear wheels of drive axle
Wheel 6 or F is passenger side rear wheel of Drive axle
Now since i know which wheel as the problem now I have to check if the problem is with sensor or the cable that connects sensor to ABS computer
What a mechanic usually does is check the sensor’s resistance using simple Multimeter $15 available online if resistance is between 900 and 2000 Oham sensor is Good
Sensor is usually $100 plus labour old sensors are $50 plus labour
What I did was I checked my sensor it was ok so I switched the connections of wheel 5 or E and wheel 6 or F
Connection are on the chassis near fifth wheel
Since I switched the connection and turn off the power from battery cut off switch ABS sign disappeared
I drove the truck around for 5 minutes without going on highway speed when ABS warning came back I checked the warning in diagnostics check the wheel number since I connected the wheel 7 ABS sensor at wheel 6 place the warning changed to wheel 6
Now I know for sure that problem is with sensor or the ABS ring that is on the wheel and my ABS harness is good.
To be sure that the sensor is not faulty I fixed the connection back to normal positions and actually pulled out sensor on wheel 6 and sensor on wheel 7 and replaced the sensors connecting wheel 6 and wheel 7 at it’s original location
Drive the truck around again I checked the fault again and The fault was on wheel 7
So I knew that even if I replaced the sensor that will not help because sensor is fine
So the only possibility is that ABS ring has to be replaced
I went to mechanic told him to remove tires and replace ABS ring
Since then ABS warning is permanently gone

I take it you drive for Hirschbach noticing the Geotab. I drive for them. And my 2022 is in the shop at a dealer in Greensboro NC. Been sitting at a hotel for four days ECAS light comes on all four airbags are flat. and lots of fault codes on my MCM. And the starter block is not cranking over the truck. Lots of issues. Hopefully your 2022 isn't giving you that much problems as mine is.
What works best for me is I shut the truck off turn the battery switch too the off position, turn the battery switch back on and then I’ll cycle the key to the on/off position three times and then start the truck. Works 99% of the time.

Awesome temporary fix.. but problem usually on the cascadia when this happens is the plug to the abs wiring getting wet and needs to be pulled apart and dried.. then reconnected.. it's an issue with these tractors.. suggestions is after drying the connection and reconnect is to protect the connections against water intrusion.

Had this problem for months. Could never get them to stop coming on even after a couple shop visits. Finally Found out the trailer was the cause. Was sending ABS signals to my truck causing it to trip out and all 4 lights would come on(abs, stability, hill assist, adaptive cruise). Got a new trailer and never seen them since
This happened to me yesterday i had all these lights on dropped my trailer to get it checked all the lights went off then i hook back up yesterday was fine check this morning they’re all back on

I just got this problem and this method deleted 2 out of the 3 lights. I'm going to do it one more time and pray for the best
It's happening on my truck I shut it off signs went of and came back on as soon as I started rolling again and it can't shift above 2
Mine came on in construction after running on rumble strip, shut the truck off for 15min + and it reset

Same problem keeps coming back shortly after a few minutes driving in the rain or snow and what makes it worse is that won’t let me switch from neutral to drive unless i reset battery but that’s causing me daily problems
That happened to me too every time it would rain it would go into neutral and would switch into Drive or reverse ended up being some wires that had chafed and with rain they would get wet and short circuit

So, what do you do if the lights come back on? Mine is having the same issue. However will go out just like yours However will come back on with 15 min.
Just keep repeating the process until it stops
Get it to a dealer or mechanic. The problem keeps happening because there is an issue with one of the 3 systems that are linked together

I just had this happen to me. Reseting the truck by turning the power off for a few minutes and back on fixed the problem.
What do you do if you don’t have a power switch like that?
@@armani4717 try disconnecting the red and black battery cables for 15 minutes then reconnect. That should work the same way.
Isn’t the top one HSA (still start assist) the other one is ESC (electronic stability controls ) not traction controll yes there’s a difference!!
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC has agreed to recall 218,147 model-year 2017-2023 trucks due to chemical corrosion potentially impacting brake-module operation during the use of adaptive cruise control.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-817, “On certain vehicles, chemical corrosion could affect the functionality of the brake-modulator valve, which during an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) braking event may result in full system pressure applied to one front wheel end causing brake pull from differential in brake force. Regular service brakes are unaffected.”
If you idle with your tractor brake pushed in with your trailer brake holding your position & you get an emergency shut down happening & than you go out & check your fluid levels & they are good but than you turn it on & your check engine & regen lights are there & it's not for some reason regenerating you simply keep hitting the override button until she starts her regenerating process & keep over ridding until its done & when it finishes the lights should turn off and you're good to go. Remember that when you're parked for long hours in this heat & trying to save fuel by bringing your rpm to 5 or 6k that soot will build quickly over your filter because the higher rpm isn't cleaning it up as it should. Also lowering rpm by keeping trailer brake engaged on older trucks would prevent oil reaching top of the engine & into your turbo system that in those old trucks would cause extreme damage. It's been 4 years engaging my 2020 to save fuel & she's strong never had an issue but just make sure that she regenerates often
That's a Freightliner for ya. But all trucks doesn't matter what model have issues with these damn MCM installed in them.

Kill switch off for 5min then turn on , turn your key 3 times(sometimes 6 off n on but don’t start the engine) and should go away, even check engine light if you had a problem then you fixed but you didn’t clear ECM
It's a wiring harness issue freightliner is aware of it there should be a recall for it. But the harness is on backorder I have been wanting for 7 months and it still is not available at my local dealership.
Just took me 6 weeks to get a driver side steer brake caliper crazy man
@@SamC992 they never got my harness in. The lease on the truck ended and the truck went back to freightliner with the same issue. Now it's on the secondary market for sale with 540,000 miles on it. I am in a 2024 freightliner and they seemed to have changed the harness design because they told I will not have that issue with the new truck

Air breaks are set, I forgot to turn the option to neutral. Semi Trucks don't have parking gear only air breaks
I have the same issue when it rains
Forward facing camera could be the problem if your windshield was replaced and not properly sealed. Water will drip down the plug and cause a malfunction eventually disabling your camera altogether.

Damn your auto shut off comes on hella quick, I've never seen it come on that quick before your company must be really really cheap
Hate this stupid crap on my truck, it causes the cruise to not work and I’m governed faster on that OF COURSE. Anytime it rains it happens. Anyway to prevent that piece of crap from getting wet that you know of?
You didn't fix anything. They come right back on when you start driving again.
