All Christians are engaged in God's work, not merely Christians working in ministry. When a baker bakes bread or a musician writes beautiful music, they are the means through which God provides food and art to the world. Therefore, Christianity believes that all work has dignity and should be celebrated. Yet, Christians must be careful not to divorce their faith from their work. We cannot bifurcate what we confess on Sunday from how we actually live the other six days of the week. Every profession will possess unique challenges that Christians must learn how to navigate in order to glorify God in their specific field.
This lecture was given as part of the Gospel & Culture Lecture series featuring Dr. Timothy Keller. Tim is the Founding and Senior Pastor Redeemer Presbyterian Church. Redeemer has become especially effective in reaching Manhattan professionals from many diverse occupations and cultural backgrounds. He is the author of several books, including The Reason for God, Counterfeit Gods, and The Prodigal God. His most recent book, King's Cross, was released February 2011.

    Great message. Thanks pastor Keller.
After 5 minutes the background noise stops. Small price to pay for a life changing sermon. Put your Christianity into your work. 'Work matters to God, and God matters in your work.'

Nearly 55 years ago when I told my parents I was leaving engineering to become a Minister of Word and Sacrament, I will never forget my Dad's wised words: "You can be a servant of God no matter what your occupation." Brother Lawrence in his essay series declares his servanthood as a pot washer in his monastary.
That my work matters to God is important to me when my work has trouble mattering to me. That God matters to my work keeps my work mattering to me. For "The chief end of man is to glorify God AND to enjoy Him forever."

it seems there is something wrong with the gain in the house system or the audio in general. is there a way you can turn it down and re-post to avoid that buzz?
