CHOLESTEROL: Do not eat carbs (rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, muffins, pastry, sugar, alcohol) for 2 weeks, and it will disappear (fat is not as important, but avoid animal fat too during the cleanse). If you add some day of fasting it will go away at least for a year. I ate sardines, salmon, onion, shrimp, sea bass (lubina), sea bream (dorada) with hot oil with fried garlic to finish them, "on their backs" (a la espalda), and fruits, mostly oranges, and drank lemonade (just lemon, water, and baking soda - bicarbonato sódico -), now some doctors recommend apple vinegar too. Basically I ate one onion with some fish a day, plus fruits and seeds - almonds, peanuts, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, nuts - the days I were anxious, and since then, even being very fat I have no high cholesterol. PS: I lived in Pedregalejo my childhood, and next time ask for "gambas al pil pil" in Bar el Pimpi Florida de El Palo (desde 1971) I do not know if it is childhood memories, but if it still exists, and serves the same "garlic shrimp" I suppose it will be good.
Hola, James, I have loved your video of Malaga with your English friend. You both are excellent. Make some more videos like this is really entertaining to watch and all the great food. 🥘 ❤️Spain. 🥰🤗
Just got back from Malaga. Spent a week there enjoying the incredible Christmas Lights. Also spent many hours in bars around the city eating amazing food and enjoying lovely wines, vermouths and cocktails. Our hotel on Calle Larios (Hotel Vincci Larios Diez) was in a perfect location as we were only a few minutes from hundreds of great places to eat. If we didn't have it in the hotel our breakfast was (of course) Churros & Hot Chocolate at Casa Aranda. We never had a meal or snack we didn't enjoy during our visit. Unfortunately we didn't get to the beach areas - that will be on our itinerary next time.
Everything looks scrumptious, even the few dishes that I wouldn't be willing to try. Your enthusiastic "degustación" comes right through to the viewer and makes this one of your most vivid videos. We're almost there with you and Hanni.
Thank you James and Hanni for this great video. My mouth is watering seeing all this beautiful fresh fish and seafood. The Larios con tónica a perfect way to finish off a fantastic day.😀👍
Hi James, love your videos especially when Spain’s food is involved! We like our food and wine when we are in Spain and as my cholesterol was high I started taking statins, now it has gone from 9.5 down to below 5……happy days😎
The paella "a la Alicante" really grabbed my attention and I can have vermouth as an aperitif or as a drink to accompany any dish. Vermouth is really a true addiction for me (I know that I repeat that all the time, but it's true). I've heard so many wonderful things about Malaga and the beachfront looks very nice. Frying foods is a quick way to feed folks but it doesn't support the health of my body. However, I would have ordered the calamari with pleasure. The sushi? I would have been in heaven over there. It looked amazing! You did a lot of work to bring this video to us. Thanks James for all your effort and attention to give us so much information and choices. I am always grateful to you. Feliz Navidad to you, Yoly and Lucia.
You and Hanni display so much enthusiasm and knowledge about the food choices you make and let us watch you enjoy. You are incredible ambassadors for local Spanish cuisine. Although we were in Malaga last April, we didn’t stray too far from the old town. This video makes me regret that and consider a side trip back there for chiringuito delights when in Seville next year. Fun video, James! Great chemistry with Hanni! ❤️
We walked to Pedregalejo one Sunday in Jan this year. All the Chiringuitos were so busy we could not get a table, all fully booked. It was an amazing place to visit, so vibrant, we ended up just sitting with an ice cream on a wall watching the world go by.
Thank you for another great video! We were in Sevillr and Malaga last June and loved it so much we are returning in May, adding Barcelona and Madrid to our trip. Your awesome videos make the wait even harder!!! Cheers from Montreal! ❤
Malaga is the next mini break I've planned with my husband. We had an Andalucian holiday for our 25th wedding anniversary (Cadiz, Jerez, Granada, Nerja) and I'm now obsessed! Seville and Cadiz (yep, again, it may be my new favourite place 😊) last January😅 Can't wait to get to Malaga next.
My favourite dishes at 'el tintero' are almejas, gambas a la plancha and mejillones (all seafood really). When you go there after 1pm the waiters just come out with the dishes and you can take them instatly. Price is between 30-50€ per person.
We spent a long weekend in Malaga back when we were living in Spain and wish we had seen this video back then, along with your other Malaga video! You hit up so many spots that looked local and delciious! As always we loved the video. Thanks, James!
Oh Malaga! Such a great city! One of my favourites not only in Spain, but in all of Euope. We spent over a month there last year and now this delicious video really made me want to go back 🙂Actually, let me check the flights... 😄
James, I return to many of your videos I watched 4 years ago. Sometimes I run across them, and click. I learn something new every time I return, because I may have missed something.
Stumbled upon your presentation accidentally Yourself and Hanni make a very good team, along with local knowledge with fantastic looking food Job well done I am now a subscriber 😊😊
Muchas Gracias Hanni and James I love watching both your videos and this one about Pedregalejo has made more even more excited than I already was as I arrive in Malaga on Thursday and will definitely spend Xmas day in Pedregalejo /El Palo and now I'm gonna have to spend another day here 😂 to fit in all your stops . Hope you and your families both have a wonderful Christmas ❤ Mark x x x
When I was there in early October 2019, we didn't have a food experience. I was with a family group that didn't stop to eat as much as taking in the views. This is why I want to do my own thing when I return.
Hola, Great video. We are looking forward to our upcoming trip to Malaga in April. We are so disappointed to see that the dates that we are in Malaga, Hanni is already booked. Do you have any other tapas/food tour guides in Malaga that you would recommend? Muchas gracias!
There's a special place called youtube: where you can watch the most delicious meals, in 4K, while you eat sweet chili heat doritos. I'm only 5 1/2 minutes in and I'm already in awe of this selection; I'm out of the closet for how delicious those sacks look.
Hi James & absolutely loved your Malaga food tour i found my self doing the eating movements with you as you eat the grilled sea bass how weirded is that ?
Here is my top mediterranean cuisines: Spanish, Moroccan and "Portuguese" Yes, im aware that Portugal is not quite a Mediterranean country but culturally, genetically and historically they are. Thanks for this excellent content ❤
Hey this is great ! We’re coming for a few days on New Year’s Day. Planning to follow in your footsteps! The best Malaga guides! Thank you! Do you think many places will be open 1st Jan? 😊🇪🇸🍤🐟🥘
It’s a bit hit and miss! It’s a public holiday but some beach restaurants and may be open as families like to go out for lunch. However, most are really bad at updating their opening hours on google etc so don’t rely on that being accurate. You might just have to take a chance. Try getting there on the early side (1pm) to scope it out and see if you can sneak in before the main lunchtime rush at 2.30-3pm.
Hi there, i want to thank you for your channel I really helped, I’m in Malaga in January do you have few recommendations for eat? Thank you Luka from Croatia
I think I might have eaten at the 1st stop in 2005? regardless I visited a friend in that same neighborhood in '05 in my first visit to Spain ... that trip alone changed my life.. went again in '22 Spain is my long lost unrecognized by the "bloodlines" yada yada until you find the place that says "welcome home!" kinda thing thing..
2 days ago I came back from Málaga. I've been staying in different neighborhood than those shown in video (Pacífico/Huelín) and here are my findings: Chiringuito Los Compadres (Paseo Marítimo Antonio Banderas) - absolutely AMAZING fish (swordfish, Saint Peter Rooster) and very decent sangría Tasca Láska (Av. Aurora) - Mediterranean restaurant founded by Slovak owner (I'm mentioning it because I'm from Slovakia, too), apparently rated quite highly by tourists Los Marangós (C/ Lario Molina) - The best of all that I've tried. Spanish cuisine at its finest. Los Compadres and Los Marangós are also accessible for wheelchairs, Tasca Láska only if you're sitting outside.
@@TheSpainExperience I'm be in Malaga in a few weeks and pulled their menu, my Spanish is not great but I didn't see it. A pretty hearty feed, so not that seasonal for Spring. I sooo want to eat that though. 😊
Zamburiñas with Ketchup, sorry but that's a no-no. They have to be served with lime or lemon. Also some bars put them in the microwave, if you see that, run! Thanks for the video, great as always.
Some restaurants close for a short break right after Christmas for a couple of weeks in January but all of the restaurants we feature in the video open year-round.
I when I was young, I had a seafood paella in Valencia and was taken aback when the shrimp were whole! Now I prepare my own, as I don't like the idea of the poop sack not being removed. I still haven't sucked the head of a shrimp yet. Watch out for the clear needles you find in the seabass, bones aren't a problem. Spanish Mussels are my favorite seafood. As for Migas, the doctor can prescribe an ointment. (LOL).
I never had vermouth in Spain, and i don't particularly like the Martini and Rossi brand I have tried here in the US. When I return to Spain, in the near future, I will try a brand popular in Spain. Maybe before I head for home, I will have taken an appreciation for Vermouth.
