I think for a single person, a 20hr/week job at minimum wage would be sufficient to survive in mid to small city. In larger cities the rent might be high but so would the wages.

I got the chancenkarte visa, and he is correct, it is not worth the hassle because they require at least B1 level in German. if you dont have that then there is no point getting this visa. You'll just be wasting a lot of money, learn the language first, it will take 7-8 months to get to B1 if you do it regularly, then apply. Your chances will improve significantly.

Well the main point of this visa is to come to Germany and look for jobs while being here. Most employers prefer to give jobs to people who are already in Germany as they would not have to worry about the employees visa process. Technically you could stay in your own country but then this defeats the purpose of the visa.

You can apply for a job seeker visa, valid for 6 months. Some say that you get 3 months of grace period on blue card totalling to 9 months but I am not completely sure.

No that’s not completely true, if you get a full time job that pays you an average income of more than 50k Euros per year, you have a chance to get blue card / work permit irrespective of your qualifications. Convince them that you’re capable, and they’ll give you visa. Be positive!

Unfortunately I am not aware of the German Embassy Visa portals. One thing I know for sure is that you definitely DO NOT need a consultat to apply. You can do it on your own but whther appointments are available or not , I do not know.

Your wife must also apply for the card too if you want her to go along, so she must meet the same financial requirements. And when you add the kids, it could get very expensive and complicated.

Yes you would need IELTS or TOFEL. If someone comes on this visa, and is unable to find a job in their own field then unfortunately the visa will not be renewed

Well sometime a certificate from the University stating that the education was completely in English does work as a substitute for IELTS but it depends on the University. Unfortunately I do not know if your university is among those who would get accepted or not.

You would need to get a B1 German language certificate first. Then you would need to give "ärztliche fachsprachenprüfung" B2 exam. Once you get it you would need to give an additional "kenntnisprüfung". The specific details vary depending on which German State you want to work in.

The opportunity card is a job search visa which can only be converted into a work visa. And only if you get a job in the field you applied the opportunity card for. For example if you applied for the chancenkarte based on a carpentry diploma and you found a full time job as a cachier in a super market. In almost all cases your visa would not be converted into a work visa.

Yes you are correct you need to find a job related to your field. But having a mechanical engineering degree means you have a lot of opportunities. Some people just get a full time odd job and for them its not possible to renew the visa based on that job

You cannot bring your spouse on Chancenkarte, they have to apply for their own chancenkarte. If you spouse is Eligible both of you even get 1 bonus point.

You only have 1 year to search for a job on this visa in almost all cases. And according to the current rules you can only convert this visa to a work visa and nothing else

You will need some sort of Financial proof to get the visa.

For each child you need half the amount needed for an adult. So lets say for a family of 4 you would need the following : €992 + €992 + (€992/2) + (€992/2) = €2976/ month or €35712 for the 12 months.
Your wife must also apply for the card too if you want her to go along, so she must meet the same financial requirements. And when you add the kids, it could get very expensive and complicated.

Yes you would need IELTS or TOFEL. If someone comes on this visa, and is unable to find a job in their own field then unfortunately the visa will not be renewed

Well sometime a certificate from the University stating that the education was completely in English does work as a substitute for IELTS but it depends on the University. Unfortunately I do not know if your university is among those who would get accepted or not.

You would need to get a B1 German language certificate first. Then you would need to give "ärztliche fachsprachenprüfung" B2 exam. Once you get it you would need to give an additional "kenntnisprüfung". The specific details vary depending on which German State you want to work in.

The opportunity card is a job search visa which can only be converted into a work visa. And only if you get a job in the field you applied the opportunity card for. For example if you applied for the chancenkarte based on a carpentry diploma and you found a full time job as a cachier in a super market. In almost all cases your visa would not be converted into a work visa.

Yes you are correct you need to find a job related to your field. But having a mechanical engineering degree means you have a lot of opportunities. Some people just get a full time odd job and for them its not possible to renew the visa based on that job

1. I am not exactly sure what jobs would be available for someone with a Masters in Zoology, however if you find a job that utilizes your education then your visa would be extented based on the job.

For work expereince you can get a certificate from your employer. Regarding. For H+/- you need to get your degree verified by Anabin to see whether your specific degree is recognized or not.
