This should be our national anthem! Definitely!
Most definitely! Used to sing this at school, stirred my soul, warmed my heart 😊
The English national anthem, definitely.
Land of Hope and Glory as a British national anthem.
God Save the King has an anti-Scots verse in it, which does disqualify it.
@jenniferbate..... And ours too Jennifer 👍 🇮🇪 ☘️
I’m having this played at my wedding 😮
It’s use in the movie Chariots of Fire totally blows me away!
One of my patients shared me this song, I’m so thankful she sent me this one. Very peaceful.
The most powerful national hymn ever!
😊
A great and valiant hymn
We are going to sing this for our class play
American singer Kris Delmhort arranged a beautiful solo acoustic version of this on The Waking, which is an EP companion of her Strange Conversations album. I first heard it there, then recognized in The Crown season six. Beautiful songs, beautiful poem.
Up-lifting!
Amen, Julie. 😊🙏
This should be England’s national anthem.
😊
It is yours to take as our anthem 🏴👍🏻✝️⚔️
Goosebumps, beautiful lyrics.
@@ChetValleyChurchesit is.

But it's only represent to England, just like O flower of Scotland and Danny boy, each four member of the United Kingdom have their regional anthem to represented the country, while "God save the king/queen" Union anthem for a whole country inside the UK, I know the sound is not something like you wanna hear it but what I'm saying is that the Country of the UK national hymn is blessing the king hymn, mostly played when king are represented *(commonwealth day, or kings birthday ehh...)* while the four each member of the UK anthem it's about their history, people, culture and its nature, so it's impossible to make this regional hymn to became official, cuz it's unofficial, every national anthem has their own meaning and their own uniqueness
I'm not a British or of British descent, I'm an Bornean
It's a nice song, but as it's specifically about England, it would not be appropriate for use as the anthem for the whole UK. I would like to see it used as an English national anthem in an official capacity though, I think the other nations' anthems do have official status but alas, ours does not. Pity, for it is a most excellent and rousing song. I'm not even religious and yet it is magical all the same! ❤
@jess.hawkins
We own the rest. And Charlie's song has to go.
Even as (especially as!) an atheist I just love it.
But would it suit Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, Islamics, ... Christians ... other atheists, other religionists etc etc (ad infinitem)? I don't see why not.
Again, I love it.
I'm disgusted with myself. That song made me cry 😢 I am a 64 year old man. Real men don't cry just because a song strikes a chord. The hell we don't!
Every time, I'm 76
Oh shup up u silly old sod, humans cry, men and women, some for nought but some because they have a heart and genuine feelings lol 😅😅😅😅

can this be played on sitar?
Probably. 😊🙏
*those dark satanic mills...
Your correction is only half right. True, Parry preferred “those,” and it’s usually “those” today. But Blake’s original poem has “these."

Jesus traveled to England... Blake knew it...
Why would he come here?? We are miles away from everyone..
@@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 LOL
The hymn asks four questions to which the answer to each is no.
Well, he played on the real possibility of the young Jesus traveling to Roman Britain with his trader uncle, but it is just an unconfirmed and amazing possibility that those feet also trod on England's green and pleasant land.

At last correct words, Among THESE dark satanic mills. Not THOSE.
This is a song of religion and not suitable for a multi religion country
What happened to England?
The British are destroying it
Unfortunately this beautiful anthem has been hijacked by the British Labour Party because after singing at their Annual Conference they sing The Red Flag!
Blake was never simplistic. This is not an homage to England.
Indeed, Tony. This is deep and often misunderstood poetry. 😊
No , your right, but I do believe that JESUS did walk upon the Mendip hills . One thing is for sure GOD 🙏 will tell us EVERYTHING about history that has been either hiden or lost throughout the years since JESUS left this earth 🌍. And sat down next to His Father in heaven
