The issue at hand is that there was information the defense heard from judges chambers that they wnt to use as part of the defense, but neither attorney was in conference with the judge in his chambers during the time such information was being discussed. Now, let's stop right there. That is a violation of ETHICS...ex parte refers to improper contact with a party or a judge. Ethical rules typically forbid a lawyer from contacting the judge or the opposing party without the other party's lawyer also being present. A breach of these rules is referred to as improper ex parte contact. SO, when the JUDGE..who is charged with ensuring the case that's being tried remains impartial and above board according to ALL THE LAWS asked the attorney when he got the information he got because he wasn't in chambers when the judge was discussing with another attorney matters pertaining to the defense more or less violating the ethics rule ex parte, they (both of them could be held in contempt) were one, not answering the judges direct question (where'd you get that informstion???) They know thier client is guilty so they intentionally do things to drag it out and make it seem like some miscarriage of justice is happening. Steel has been warned repeatedly and he chose to be arrested. Right to an attorney doesn't mean you get to choose your attorney. If your attorney does something to have themselves removed from court, you don't get to just stop the trial, especially when there is co-counsel. The defense is intentionally trying to cause a mistrial and creating issues to appeal after the verdict. That's the only "defense" they have.
