@@777edge I removed my comment about the slack in the mechanism. They sent me a new cylinder and the tolerances are so much tighter. Also the new one only has the two detents allowing you to mount the knife and spin it in either direction. Plus all the play has been eliminated. Thanks Gritomatic
@@freddykelly4405After discovering the later generation PPA slight differences two weeks ago, I updated the design for Gritomatic last week, so I'm glad Gritomatic got it manufactured and sent to you quickly. Enjoy!
So I finally assembled things tonight and the new clamp adapter would barely fit into the hole on my Work Sharp PPA. It was so tight that I thought something would break, however it finally seated with a lot of elbow grease and twisting. Still, I'm wondering if something is not quite right. Thoughts or advice? I'd sure hate to break it taking it apart. 🤔🤔
@@ImOnTheEdge Perhaps a little ridge or burr at the end of the steel rod that Gritomatic used and installed in the adapter? If so, just remove the little burr or deformation. If it doesn't help, perhaps ask Gritomatic for another rod. Hope you get it resolved!
@@777edge It was a bear to get pulled back out, in fact it separated from the barrel, however after a few drops of oil and turning the steel rod with some pliers, it became easier. Now if all the screws were a bit more standardized in sizes, that would be nice.
@@Sparky-q2d You can swivel the clamps outward for longer blades. Another option you have for longer and more flexible knives, is the Leading Edge Core upgrade with its large blade magnetic attachment. Gritomatic will also have them in stock soon. @@777edge oh wow ok i just watched your video. it looks pretty solid. is there a reason you would choose the core upgrade over the clamps? ive also been considering getting rid of the PPA and getting a tsprof. I dont really think is acceptable to have to spend an extra 1-200 on upgrades (although i love they are an option) just to fix issues that should have been fixed by WorkSharp already.
@@Sparky-q2d If you wanted to keep your PPA then I would say it's worth having both the clamp and the full set Leading Edge core upgrade for the Pro Precision Adjust. I would also highly recommend the Leading Edge 6 inch stone holder for the PPA. All of these upgrades will make it a complete sharpening system that will sharpen just about anything you need it to, with plenty of options. It puts the PPA on par (or beyond) many near $1K+ sharpening systems - if you had to purchase and add all the options of some top end systems. If you do decide on specifically a TSProf, then the K03 is your best choice - it certainly is an excellent system, but beware - the accessories are very expensive. The Hapstone R2 is also a top choice, and the accessories are much more affordable than TSProf.
@@Sparky-q2d No problem. The Leading Edge Core upgrade has been designed, tested and is ready. Gritomatic is in production at the moment, so it should be on their site soon.

@@ImOnTheEdge Sounds like it must have been a burr at the end of the rod where it was cut. Glad you have it sorted.👍🏻
Brilliant!
Do you happen to have a link to the actual product? I'm having a hard time trying to find it on the gritomatic site.
How much are they and when can I get one?

Those parts are plastic or all metal?
