So basically: Threshold = level above which signal gets reduced Ratio = how much compression is applied when the signal goes over the threshold (2:1 means if the input signal is 10db above threshold, after compression the output will be 5db above threshold) Higher the threshold, shorter will be the portion we reduce(sorry for my english)
i know this is kinda of a random question but your video made me think of this. What would you say the best sample pack for dubstep is right now. Not including vengeance
Actually, i prefer listening to him take us through the whole thought process. He explains a lot more things, and makes them easier for a Ableton novice, like me, to understand. Keep it up man, love your vids! :)
rene vdwatt I agree with both of you. I don't think Bryan Anderson was necessarily being negative, but that he could write all of that down and maybe have a page of bulletin points on what he wants to share about. They are explained really well but could just be articulated better. But Ill still watch THEM ALLLL
gain is volume up/down pretty much. is boosting a signal
Black Octopus makes some solid samples, but Vengeance is really all you need, especially if you're just starting out.
Thank you so much for making these videos, I really appreciate it.

Note that compressing the hihat heavily changes not only the volume but also timbre somewhat. Maybe worth mentioning in later videos.
Thx again SW !
like your explanations, easy to follow. Thanks! what kind of compressor is that?

any ratio example for bassline? For deep house, tech house etc..
Tnx man!
thanks
how do you have a waveform on your EQ? and hwo does your compressor look different from the standard ableton one?
lets see the new one
Coll stuff! :)
You should cut your videos, so you can think of stuff and then get them out in a fluent way
