Orchard (NS22/TE14) to Marina Bay (NS27/CE2/TE20) | Which MRT line is Faster?

- In this video, we are going to see which MRT line, North South Line and Thomson East-Coast Line is faster from Orchard to Marina Bay. We timed the journey throughout the whole journey for both lines and discovered that both lines ran almost the same time, just a few seconds difference. In fact, the North South line is still faster than The new Thomson East Coast Line which has one extra station. We felt that its because of the stopping time in Marina Bay and Outram Park stations which has 3 MRT lines operating for the first time.
Which line would you be taking for these stations? Comment down below

Orchard to woodlands. Which one faster
Nice. But I think it's a bit of not so conclusive, because u started and ended the trips at their respective platforms. Although Both Marina Bay stations (And likewise the Orchard Stations) share the same name, but they are entirely 2 different sets of individual stations. Say, if you meet your friends at Ion Orchard, the walking time differs. A more objective approach should be between point A to point B , including all those long walks within the stations and the transfers... Etc. Example: Bayfront station - Ion Orchard customer service counters via NSL and TEL. Similar to The Amazing Race.. Just some thoughts..
Then TEL is at a massive disadvantage alr cos its so far from everything. Timing it like this sort of makes sense, can make a good reference for people who feel like they should change lines at orchard to reach Marina Bay faster or smth
You should do Woodlands to Marina Bay on both lines.

The measurements you are doing are still limited on measuring the train's travel time, not measuring the walking time of MRT passengers from outside the station to the station platform. Because passenger's departure and destinations point are different, we can set the departure point and destination point at the station exit. For example, you set the departure point from exit number 5 of Orchard station, which is integrated with ION Orchard, then set the destination point at exit number 1 of Marina Bay station. Even that is still not enough, because the waiting time for passengers from arriving at the platform, until the train arrives, can be different every time you take the MRT. So, to compare which one is faster, you need to make repeated measurements, not just once. And there are still other cause that need to be taken into account, for example is it rush hour or not. When it is rush hour, there may be "traffic jams" in the station that slows down walking speed.
Like C151C sound
how about comparing the time taken from marina bay to woodlands?
Good idea, Orchard to Woodlands too!
what about Caldecott to Marina Bay?
@@LaxMarch2022 wow that’s a great idea, you all are giving us more ideas which is fantastic
@@LaxMarch2022 that'll kinda be a no brainer that TEL will win. Not only the fact that TEL takes only 10 stations to go to Marina Bay from Caldecott compared to CCL's 15, it's far more modern, direct and efficient unlike the indirect and potentially crowded CCL.
Comparing the NSL and TEL will then make a good and logical video topic, cos TEL was supposed to be designed as the relief line for the WDL-MRB section of the NSL. Having almost the same amt of stations to travel by, plus how direct into the city both can be, will then be a fair and fun experiment to try on.
WOW C151A
Future suggestion (on the basis of this video): Marina South Pier to Woodlands North, where to interchange at from North South Line to Thomson East Coast Line?
Route 1: Marina Bay: 1 stop + 18 stops = 19 stops
Route 2: Orchard: 6 stops + 12 stops = 18 stops
Route 3: Woodlands: 19 stops + 1 stop = 20 stops
Singapore Rail Rides Should Make Video From Orchard TO Woodlands!!!
Another suggestion: Gardens by the Bay to Tuas Link using all 6 MRT lines
Thomson East Coast Line ➡ North East Line (Outram Park) ➡ North South Line (Dhoby Ghaut) ➡ Downtown Line (Newton) ➡ Circle Line (Botanic Gardens) ➡ East West Line (Buona Vista): 4 stops + 3 stops + 3 stops + 2 stops + 3 stops + 12 stops = 27 stops
Well I thought TEL would be faster but in the end NSL faster
TEL covers more stops between Orchard and Marina Bay
Will still take Red Line for my favourite C151A
Next Station Orchard interchange, passengers who are countinue their journey on the Thomson East Coast Line, please alight at the next station. Orchard interchange, passengers who are countinue their journey on the Thomson East Coast Line, please alight. Orchard interchange, please mind the platform gap.
That's outdated ann
@@BaySean ya but I like that announcement more than the present ones.
For TE20 Marina Bay platform,SMRT should put the station name signage at the train wall platform facing the train. At one occasion, I nearly miss the stop although it was voice out on the PA system
👍👍👍
Try cherish Woodlands North to Gardens By The Bay on Thomson-East Coast Line for just one and half months time to go.
Next Station, NS22 TE14 Orchard, Change at the next station for the Thomson East Coast Line, This Train Service ends at CE2 NS27 TE20 Marina Bay, If this train is too long traveling to Marina Bay, Please change to the Thomson East Coast Line
Please mind the platform gap
More options to travel between any two stations
On the thomson east coast line from marina bay TE20 to orchard TE14 the train passes by 5 stations
But on the north south line from marina bay NS27 to orchard NS22 the train passes by 4 stations
That is why the north south line is faster then the thomson east coast line from marina bay NS27 TE20 CE2 to orchard TE14 NS22
good
North South Line is the Fastest
Try take the thomson east coast line from woodlands to marina bay and then take the north south line from maina bay back to woodlands
The North South Line.
Old reserved seating stickers! This must be 509/510
Thomson east coast line is 10 minutes something
Better idea: Just take the bus.
The MRT is better then the bus
who is BD sia, the young boy is look abit toot la but cute
Ex wife and daughter of former 😢they were in a 😢te
Thomson-East Coast Line Better, North South East West Line Sucks Alot
Agreed, it’s too crowded most of the time
@@UTCtraveling do u prefer North East Line better than North South East West Line
@@svc855bsoe I would say they are the same. But I prefer north-east line because not so many stations
@@UTCtraveling i live on the terminal of nel
The reason why the thomson east coast line is more modern then the north south line is because the north south line was the first line in singapore and the oldest one and the thomson east coast line is the newest line in singapore
We have 3 Triple Line stations in Singapore within 12 years
🚇 🐅
2010 -- one station became Triple Line - Dhoby Ghaut ♥️ 💜 🧡
2022 -- two stations became Triple Line - Outram Park and Marina Bay.
💚 💜🤎 ♥️ 🧡 🤎.
When Jurong region line and Cross island line opens, Jurong East, Punggol and Choa Chu Kang will be the addition to the triple line stations
Pasir Ris also on a technicality, but then you would also count Promenade
@@placeholderblankspacePasir Ris is part of the main Cross Island Line and the Punggol Extension from Punggol to Pasir Ris which are both on the same MRT line., So,Pasir Ris won't be a triple interchange station
@@akshaylenin7166 well sure but it's like whether or not you consider Tanah Merah to be an interchange station as well. Some people wouldn't but objectively you have to change trains to a different "line" to continue your journey so it can still be view as an interchange. also this comment is 1 year old help
@@placeholderblankspace that extension part still comes under Cross Island Line
