    THANK YOU!
    We watched your video and made a temporary dog door panel from a huge piece of cardboard to kind of try it out before buying the materials and today we went and bought a polycarbonate panel, some clear gorilla tape which is weatherproof and non yellowing and a piece of pipe insulation to hold the panel in place within the door frame.
    It worked beautifully, and we followed each of your steps.
    Thank you, you saved us £198 and it cost us about £23 in total and we haven't blocked out any light and our old girl can go in and out happily. THANK YOU 😘

    Thanks from 🇨🇦. Just exactly what I want to do for my cat. I may make a screen for the summer, and a bit heavier or double plastic for our cold/ cold winters. My cat only likes to go out on the (nice cold days!… certainly not when it is -40C or even worse!)

    Thank you so much! I was looking for something to take along to an AirBnB when we take our dog, and this will work perfectly!

    This is my type of fix! I'm feeding a feral cat who is now coming in my open sliding door to eat in my sunroom! With winter coming, I can't leave the door open anymore. It's the cold that's the problem, not moisture since I live in the desert. This is a perfect thing to try as I'm doing this for a feral cat who may disappear. She is now actually coming toward my open house door which is at the other end of the sunroom...so, fewer bugs and flies will be great, too! The door catch piece fills the entire channel so I can't slip the board in between the channel and the edge of the catch piece.. so I may use two pieces of board and just stuff some foam in the area where the door latch piece is...or try to cut the board to fit around the catch.

    Well, I really doubt foam board would survive my dogs going in and out, but you could use wood and make a frame (or even wood and plexiglass if you wanted to be fancy) or a solid piece of lumber (but that would make it awfully heavy)
    Having several wood frames that connect by hinge would make it collapsible for storage as well

    • @Lac1912
      @Lac1912  6 місяців тому

      The problem with using wood is that it would be heavy and the door insert would slide down. The foam board should be OK provided the top of the opening is high enough so that it is not struck by the dogs passing under.

      Put something on the bottom of the flap to give it some weight.

      So could the windows and the front door. Thank God for cameras that will alert you. Thief's will find a way no matter what you have going.

    how thick is the foam board?

    • @Lac1912
      @Lac1912  3 роки тому

      I used 5mm foam board which fits between the catch and the cavity in which the door slides. A thicker board would work but would require the board to be around the catch.
