I think you have the black sweeping on the wrong spot. Shouldn't it go on the inside since the door is open & exposed air/bugs entering into your house?

How did you remove the strike plate in your door so that the dog door sits flush to the left?

Do you think a thin lead would fit through the flap and still seal?

I don’t believe it would. There really isn’t a gap, so I think even if it’s a thin lead it wouldn’t work well.

What if you had a screen door, you would always have a gap in between the screen door and the main sliding door right?
