    *No Amendments & 1 Note*
Note: @mrniceguy4277 brought up a great point I think you may want to know - the effect size is quite small on the results. The tests are based on a 7 point scale, so a 0.05 change may not be clinically significant for some people. That said, the effect might grow over time (maintained on MVM and reduced over time in the placebo), but that's speculation on my part. Either way, while the effects were strongly statistically significant, the effect size is very small.

The statement I saw at the end of the article (and results) was that "the magnitude of effect on global cognition was equivalent to reducing cognitive aging by 2y." So not nothing and interestingly equivalent to the length of the trial.
What I wasn't able to quickly find was the sponsor of the study in pubmed or the clinical trial write-ups:

@@wolfrahmphosphoros5808 I only measure my food about once per year if that. I'm 60 and when you get peripheral neuropathy, you tried to figure out what's wrong so you can correct it before it's too late and go into old age with health problems that lower your quality of life. A B12 deficiency does this and I wrongly believed that a multivitamin would give me enough B12. Maybe it is enough for some people, especially younger people.

    Education...
I'm technically, "under-educated." Being ADHD before diagnosis existed, had me labeled, "the dumb one."
To prove "their" point, I did poorly in school. After, I went to community college, did poorly, except physics. I aced physics I & II. Loved it.
I goy lousy grades in everything else. I quit school, got a job at the local steel mill as a laborer... eventually getting fired (long story).
I began playing guitar, got good, quickly... although I didn't think I was at the time.
Eventually, I got a job being a bicycle mechanic for a bicycle magazine. I was asked to jot down some personal impressions of a test bike. The next morning, I was on the writing staff of the magazine... I got D's in English in high school. They didn't care, and the work came in, I wrote, got published, scored a hot GF..
5 years later another GF suggested I get tested for ADD... It was found out I was ADD (now, ADHD). I was given an intelligence test, and was told I had an IQ of b 140... I was astounded. Me? Really? Now what?
The music took off, I did it full-time, but since I'm not organized nor able to schmooze, I couldn't handle the business end... I quit. I welded (self-taught) some rich guy's art... made more money, even though he paid crap.
Now retired... on a pittance of Social Security, I have a small abode, lots of tools, guitars... want to fluff the place up.
I've a small backhoe, and am digging with a plan to lay some concrete slabs.... This is a real learning experience since I've not ever used a backhoe or laid concrete... but I find it like a game of chess. I've the finished product in mind, got instruction on how deep to dig... and I need to figure out a game plan as I go along. First dig, then make the forms... get the pitch right for drainage... etc.
At night I'm here on YT, and learning about health, nutrition, from folks like you...
I'm a fit 73... and want to keep the brain in top shape.... I'm in a band that is introducing new-to-me music, and players (horns)... so inspiring...

Can sympathize. Am in mid-30's and it took me forever to get diagnosed. I had to get a master's in psychology and study the DSM closely to realize... uh-oh... I have ADHD. AGEs, mineralisation leading to decreased blood circulation appears to be a major factor. So to combat the AGEs you need an antioxidant that can cross the blood brain barrier, you need somthing to reduce you're blood glucose level. You could also try taking somthing that can actively remove AGEs that have already been formed like carnosine. Mineralisation can be limited with vitamin K. Finally boost blood circulation via polyphenols, nitrogen containing foods such as beetroot

I am 75 and resist meeting others of my age because they focus on problems and regrets. All my close friends are much younger because we share activities and interests. I still run 3 businesses daily, had 4 until Covid ended it, a large incoming tour operator business with contracts with cruise ships to provide 2-3 day intensive tours to cruise passengers. Ships stopped coming here.
My primary girlfriend is 43, an athlete(long distance open ocean swimming. We, or others accompany me to ballet, opera, rock clubs to dance until 4am, pro photographer, recording engineer with 197 gold and platinum albums from 1972 to 1993, then gave everything away and moved to St Petersburg Russia in 2000 and started the tour company, photo studio(most actor, ballet and opera portfolios) and conduct popular master classes for actors who what to transition to cinema, 2 times a month 3 day programs for 20-60 actors, and run a repair shop for professional sound systems clubs and musicians and still find time to explore art and the 476 museums in this city...and date 3-5 times a week. Staying active, interested and challenging keeps enthusiasm for life high, having younger friends, never dated anyone over 50 because I never found a women still interest in the present and future, dwelling on the past instead. Energy boosted again when I joined a good gym and work out to failure every other day. A couple years also I stopped eating any processed foods and have learned to cook. My only physical problem is lack enough sleep. The only time I sleep well is after making love. Due to the change in diet and gym I gained muscle mass and look better and my thinning hair grew thicker and darker.
I am convinces that lack of drive and challenges that most people who retire suffer from is a major cause of mental an physical decline most people experience after retiring. Most of my friends are age 20-40, most in their 20s, because we meet due to having similar activities. People who have careers with no age limit such as self employed, creatives like artists and writers, and those who always seek additional challenges. Later today I am teaching a workshop for young people who want start their own business. Since age 13(electronic repair of high-fi and CB radios with a shop and business license and sold it to the parents of my only employee when I graduated midterm from High school and it continued operation for another 26 years). I have spent time in 92 counties and have living, got my pilots license and restored my plane,, build a horse ranch, owned a large famous recording studio complex of 3 studios where we recorded many of the hit of the 70s and 80s, collected and restored classic Maserati GTs of the models years of late 50s to 1975 and had 13 of them, plus a few Ferrari and Jags. I think men especially need to be needed and retirement is a death sentence and why creatives, or self employed who have no retirement age are healthier and live longer. Having a beautiful fit younger partner keeps enthusiasm to stay active and healthy.

In addition, unless you are tracking your food with an app that shows all important micronutrients, you will have no idea if you are getting enough of the various nutrients. Youth overcomes a lot of shortcomings and abuses. Over 40 does not. Over 60 and 70 really does not; the opposite.

Heard about polymorphism affecting methylation from some Gary Brecka videos a few weeks ago. Still learning but there are several companies here in Canada that provide the service for between $80 and $500 CAD.
The latter being a test of over 200 genes to give a 170+ page report thst offers over 70 health insights. A 45min review with a practitioner is included.
The inexpensive one is just testing for methylation of vitamins, and not hormone processes or lactase etc.
Targeted supplementation with methylated versions seems like a good idea for those with specific gene variants. Also avoiding things or taking other measures seems like a way to further improve quality of life.

I wouldn't trust something from NYT on nutrition. They'll just be writing and quoting from mainstream doctors who don't have comprehensive view of supplements. Lutein generally should be taken separately from multivitamin. Like magnesium and calcium, the amount of lutein in a multivitamin is typically way too low.
A good high quality multivitamin would be something from Life Extension, Thorne or Now. It's not just an issue of price, you have to look at the forms of vitamins used like whether they're in a bioavailable form, fillers used etc.

First, what about the studies that show that people taking calcium supplements have higher rates of heart disease and lower overall survival. 2nd, as an RN I have taken care of MANY brilliant people who ended up with dementia. Scientists, doctors, researchers, etc. Also people who ran marathons and "did everything right". I actually question how valid the testing we can do for dementia is. The automatic responses we have learned often cover the deficiencies until a person spends time and even spends time during certain times of the day. The ability to remember a random list of items mentioned 5 minutes later is a very poor test.

For example, my friend’s husband the Harvard lawyer and my BIL the aerospace engineer are still getting booster shots. I see that as the most expensive IQ test ever created. Also, the most highly educated people seemed to be the most susceptible and gullible in terms of falling for government propaganda during the pandemic. They lacked logic and critical thinking ability to a degree that was truly alarming. (Believing that cloth masks could block viruses, participating in an experimental gene therapy despite zero evidence of long term safety/efficacy, believing that other people needed to get a vaccine in order to provide protection to a vaccinated person, etc. There were many comically obvious lies. They fell for them all).
