thank for inspiring me to get a hoodoo 120 today. I subscribed also . I'm want to make a motor mount like yours. i would like to know what size and type of screws you molded into your base plate and where you purchased them. hopefully i'll see you out fishing one day i fish the same spot sometimes. Thank you
I have a different issue. I'm looking 48 inch shaft power drive that has a broken lock/release lever. does that come off over the top where the power head is? Or does you have to take the motor off the bottom?
I'm trying to decide which to get for my nucanoe frontier. Xi3 pinpoints gps or minnkota terrova?? Both around the same price . How's the spotlock on both of them? Pros vs cons?
Couldn't ask for a better DIY video. Exactly what the project involves; nothing more, nothing less. Well done.
Thank you!
Thanks. best detailed video for this!
You make it look easy. Thanks.
Great video! My brother and I will use this tutorial to modify both mine and his trolling motors.
Liked and subscribed also. Thanks!
Nice work ..thanks for showing us
dumb question but what was that you used to protect the wires when you cut the shaft?
Sweet Thanks
Do you have a video (or know of one) showing the Terrova being rigged onto a kayak and raised/lowered from the seat?
An oscillating tool is very forgiving when it comes to not damaging wires.

Thank you for the video, looks like the GPS heads on the trolling motor have less wire than the hand operating one less wire to deal with.
That is very true only 2 wires to deal with
What do you do with the extra slack from your coil wire
Have you seen a 70lb thrust motor bow mount on a kayak? Is it too much? I have a PWR129 and I'm wanting to pair a good unit with my hummingbird.
Use a PVC pipe cutter to cut the shaft. Works a lot better and no worries nicking the wires.
It is hard to use a pipe cuter because the shaft is flat on one side
It might be a little less risky to cut the shaft with a spin around pipe/tubing cutter, not much chance of damaging wire insulation. imo

You should be able to take it off the top
What about the coil wire? It has too much slack now. Thank you
You are going to get some slack. Especially if you’re cutting down a really long shaft. But you should be fine
i heard once you cut, the warranty is voided. is that true?
Yes unless you have a certified minn kota tech do it
I have changed the length of mine. How do I sync the software to the new length?
You don’t need to sync any thing for the length of the shaft

We haven’t ran the minnkota yet but hope to do it this week
I'm sure you made your choice by now but terrova all the way.
Can I cut a 72 in terrova down to a 50?
Yes
