I had the same thought midway through, but the sad reality is that this is probably 60% of the max runtime cinematics they produce can be before they turn to shit. Anything requiring actual story or in depth thought falls apart, hence why the trailers are good. They would do well with one-off short stories where leaving things more open ended actually works.

@@TheBurningcage27 How exactly does melee not suck when the game itself sucks? If we're comparing campaign experience, yeah, barbarian leveling for the first time is cool, but other than that the game is sub-par to every other game of the genre out there.

They have rarely gotten melee into a okay state, only to nerf it into oblivion.
The only hope people had was POE2 and they admitted they used RANGER as the foundational class and are basing the movement on wasd type.

Most of that QoL should have been there in the launch, also where are the in-game auction house and built-in community builds?
But for sure PoE is little by little going more sensible way, might be playable soon.
@@Ziegeri I don't think you understand the complexity of PoE builds let alone implementing/migrating something like PoB into the game. And btw, when PoE launched GGG's development team was probably like 1/4 the size of people involved in designing this new D4 class.

this was so cringe to watch... Meanwhile POE in 4 months added another mini game , reworked al melee skills, fixed bunch of shit, reintroduced old leagues, added QOL currency trading . . .

You can have a dark gritty theme and still make it so people can see what's going on. There are more colors than red and black. D2 was dark and gritty while having an easy to read game.
you can highlight your character in game menu so it is easilly visible for players who prefer it

POE just showed everything... this stream was only about the new class, not the expansion.
we still have to see:
- The Raid
- New Skills for old classes
- level cap increase, more skill points
- new world boss
- the revamp of the paragon boards
- Mercenary System with own skills
and more which doest got leaked.

Another case of the d4 devs making stuff for themselves… literally everyone wanted paladin
they probably balancing out the classes per stats. 2 int, 1 dex, 1 willpower/str, 1 str. they wanted more dex.
Let them cook. I want a paladin too and I'm sure it's coming later.
Why choose a literally good spiritual class when you can choose woke 2 spirit instead? This is what happens with LGBTQ+ obsessed devs and/or admin.

Meanwhile, the PoE 3.25 reveal was an absolute banger and had SO MUCH content that I'm actually overwhelmed by it and am still processing it.

The main character should have never let her out of their sight. It was a lack of common sense from the main character, because she has been nothing but a rebel teenager the whole game.

Even if it looks Aesthetically good. It still lacks any soul that I instantly feel when hearing the POE developers talk or seeing them play and show you what awesome game they have made.
And yet you're still here. You'll see that PoE will face the same or even greater level of condemnation and criticism, and you'll be the first to post comments on PoE Reddit, X, etc. You know why? Because you can't just stop playing games you don't like. It's going to be the same story with PoE, I swear. It's not 2013, it's ten years past. A lot of things have happened to games in those ten years, and PoE is no exception. Dude, did you follow Blizzard developer videos and diaries before d4 came out? Do you remember the level of hype? I do. And you're making that mistake again, believing in these PoE gameplay trailers that definitely won't be downgraded and most of the mechanics will be killed and turned into garbage. This actually makes sense, never thought about the “social and cultural” implications of what a “witch doctor” represents. DEI WD lmao
i thik its not DEI, but gameplay loop. They probably expect people to enjoy fast paced gameplay loop combination of jaguar/bird and that's why they chose it. I played Witch doctor in d3 and I get it why they are not that popular.
It's not a summoner class, but a high-mobility melee mage with extra steps. The "summons" are not controllable or have AI, they are just area effects.
They are acting like this is something unique and how they managed to come up with this, in reality this is just a League of Legends champion. Im new to blizzard, but I'm starting to get insanely frustrated how they keep doing things nobody wants or asked for, again and again and again and again and again.

Did you guys see the new POE league announcement trailer? They really outdid themselves. The only thing Diablo 4 has over POE is the cut-scenes.
Crossplay regular updates and gamepass is also a plus. Also WASD movement

Less complexity, better cinematics, WASD movement, better melee combat, cross play - Diablo is still superior in many ways to the broad masses of players who do not want to theorycraft and spend a lot of time on complex systems but just get in there.

I was about to say the Spiritborn seems to be a reskinned monk from D3 but I wasn't 100% sure about the similarities.

the idea of the class is perfectly fine. The issue is their stubborn refusal to give a holy themed class. That's the only thing that will save the game in the eyes of players at this point. Give us back the high heavens, angels and a holy class. Anything else prior to that is cool on it's on but it just looks like rearranging deck chairs on the titanic
It just makes sense, even if it isn't a paladin, what about a Priest/Priestess? Something that uses Holy damage, seeing as your v demons.
I don't think anyone believes a paladin class will "save the game" it would just be ...cool.

I dont understand how is this character related to Diablo Universe.
Play Diablo 2 act 3 you see all the meso american styled stuff.... now the area on the map we are going to is in that styled area.... even in Diablo 2 there wasn't really any " Holy like feel to that location" it would feel so out of place to put a paladin in this expansion.

I think my biggest problem with diablo 4 as well as 3 is that all the abilities between classes feel like the same crap but with a different skin on it. This is an arcade machine designed to milk you for money.
When you want to add Witch Doctor and Monk to the game, but the lead dev tells you you can add only one.
Literally a second Druid that seems to learn harder on essence like Necromancers.
Crazy how the executives/suits/highers/new hires/ had a silver platter of good lore to make a moving story/characters and… they produce this 😭💀

Heard a lot about how this class's abilities work. They have 5 builder abilities, only one of them is good because it applies Vulnerability and hits multiple targets.
Then they have a bunch of abilities that spend their resource that they build with the builders, and some of their abilities are on cooldowns.
It's nuts man I dunno how they thought of it, so unique compared to the other classes that are all also very unique.
The reason we don’t have Paladin is because Blizzard said this is a Sanctuary that the High Heavens have all but abandoned. I’m hoping this will be the first Diablo with more than 1 expansion and we get more of what’s going on in the next expansion and also get a Paladin.

Looking to go Spiritborn with Gorilla and Centipede with Thorns. There are a lot of new legendries that increase Thorns and more damage to poisoned enemies as well as taking all direct damage as Poison but you gain an insane increase in maximum poison resist. Also, the base gorilla ability will inflict your thorns into the enemies.
Next builds would be Rogue spin2win or Sorc with Frozen Orb proc'ing Lightning Spear or Chain Lightning especially with the new conjurations.
They say options tons of builds etc but how much yall wana bet there's like 2 builds that are viable tops

i was really dead sure, that a shield class melee would be set for the expansion. I mean... you got shields already in game, only for necros as stat-token. But not one Melee class with shield bash or anything... that seemed so so obvious for a first expansion.... i don't know what they're thinking
I hate that this expansion happened because an idiot took the worldstone thinking that she would protect it better knowing that eben an entire order of elite soldiers and the most powerful magi failed because of the corrupting power the stone has.

I’m torn because I used to play paladin & crusader. But as a Curandero (Quiché Maya Healer) who’s Guatemalan, I’m not only surprised, but extremely excited that they actually did a “Mayan” type character. I’m 34 and have played since Diablo 1. Never expected that.

yea she was pretty uninteresting through the story. literally just a random person without much character, yet we let her make a major decision at the end of the game, and it turns out to be a bad choice. welp, looks like shes going to either become some crazy demon we kill, or someone we have to save in the dlc.
@@ovechkin100 Neyrille was annoying from the start but I tolerated her and thought the story was okay. Then I got to the end of the game. I should have guessed Blizzard would do something that asinine. Only bought the game on discount when S4 released and now I won't be wasting a penny on the expansion. Not just because of the woke storytelling but because D4 is the most unbalanced Diablo game they have ever released.
I leveled each class this season to 100 and the disparity in power is disgusting. They have no idea what they are doing. The skill tree is overly simple. The paragon board is overly convoluted. The loot and the endgame are boring. It's just a giant step down from D2 and even D3. Blizzard is a joke. Maybe they should try hiring some actual talent. Then again, no one in their right mind would want to work there.

technically speaking, they could've theoretically added spiritborn and paladin given the location kind of speaks to both of them. D2's expansion was 2 classes. LoD was one of the best expansions they've made. Compared to that this doesn't look as substantial. which is a little crazy given how much larger a company they are

Actually what you describe, the combination of skills and building on each other was already in diablo 3. Even before poe or anyone. They removed it by the time they released the game. We actually have working footage of combining skills, them having effects on each other and so. So i guess blizzard decided they do not wanna do it.
The whole spirit guardian shit is stupid it's basically another take on a Druid that don't use shape shift instead just summons them.
I had rock-bottom expectations for this new D4 expansion, and yet somehow, they still managed to limbo right under them and disappoint me once more.

@37thgungrunts I'll answer for him. It's DEI because of the simple fact that this does not follow lore. No matter how you sell it or cut it. During the initial invasion of the prime evils, where were these guys? Are we to assume that all three of the prime evils existing at the same time is less of a threat than what is going on now because they didn't show during those events? Of course not. I uniquely feel like every time I die in D4 it’s BS. It’s always a large chain CC, random after death effect, or some other mechanic you couldn’t see. There’s never difficult content you’re struggling to maintain health and end up losing to the core content. You’re at full health in cruise control, then you’re dead. I feel like if you enjoy hardcore in D4 something is wrong with you.

You made a great point. We needed an element to be replaced with Bleed. Barb is the only bleeder. Especially in a blood driven themed game. It would be a hard choice unless you gave it to the gorilla. So it’d still be physical
Trailers insanely good, but class is basically a monk from d3 ,same ability's , but its evolved into subclass of spirit tamer and all they did is added new textured but the abilities are the same.
Yes they used monk abilities and reskinned them.

Don`t worry about the Paladin class. I think, Blizzard decided to make Diablo classes like in Hero Siege - more than 20.

I would recommend actually trying the game again. The latest season fixed a lot of the issues we saw initially, so the end game loop and itemization is actually enjoyable. I didn't play since launch but I was pleasantly surprised.
