Loved this, shared on my FB for great crafting ideas for the kids or anyone...then they can date them through the years, and pass down when kids grow up and begin their own family...
What a great idea to recycle old cards, and I could also make these in different Christmas shapes. I like the use of the central cut outs as smaller decorations too; in fact, your tutorial has inspired me with several new ideas and variations on the theme! I'm thinking of cutting out stars (with a smaller central star punched out), Christmas trees, various bauble shapes - any shapes you can cut out, really - with heart or other shapes cut or punched from their centers. I shall add a touch of holographic glitter to the edges too. I think a chunky little Christmas stocking with a teddy bear cut-out would be nice too; looks like that's my project for the weekend, then!
I love this. I wish I watched it before Christmas to make a few of them to give away. Do you think it would work if, before you glued the last two house parts together, if you affixed your string and not have to string it through? Or would that not work? I really really like this one
This is such a good idea! I'm gonna have to do these :) I'm also thinking it could be cute to have a bead hang in the middle of the cut out heart in the house ornament, think I'm gonna try doing that :)
Thank you. I don't know why I couldn't find it. It will be a great project for me to make and I especially like this because I went to Japan this year and it reminds me of my trip.
They are actually sold as "lobster shears" used to cut open lobster shells. I like them because they have a spring in them that makes them less tiring to use when doing a lot of cutting. They were for sale at my local grocery store for 1/2 price near the lobster tank in the seafood section and I bough 2 pairs :)
what were the measurements you had on the one you had in the video? I was trying to get those. I printed the template from your website but I think it is much bigger than the one in your video.
hi love it fab way to use xmas card would love to make these but cannot hear what you are saying as i am deaf i cannot hear . i need subtitles or a written notes, but tks for sharing :-D
This is cute & everything, but, no offense, people give you cards so u can remember them and be happy, not for you to cut them and give them away? Not hating, just my opinion. I'm sorry if this offended you.
This is a really great idea, so pretty. I put the thread /fishing line in place before I glued the last two edges together to make it easier.
These are really cute and so festive! You come up with the best ornaments!!
I love that you always do something with recycled cards and it's so simple!
Love this. I have loads of old Christmas cards I couldn't bare to throw out!
You do make it all look so effortless, Tammy....they are beautiful too.

The vast majority of people just throw cards away, at least I can enjoy them for years to come this way.
