where are you two off to next?
Stay safe you two, love your work - Olá from New Zealand 🇳🇿

Alentejo is surely one of the cleanest regions in Portugal: people there are always painting their houses white, cleaning the houses, the streets...
Maybe... It's cleaner than the Lisbon region for sure (or the Algarve), but I think Northern and Central Portugal are also very clean places...
This is what I love about some places in Europe. Castles, and Fortifications. It is present but when you are on it, it turns you back in time.
Yeah, only in Europe. Just as some characteristic places only to be found in china or japan or elsewhere
Monsaraz Castle has for me one of the best sunsets of all....
The Alentejo is the beautiful rural interior of Portugal, and is characterised by gently rolling hills, historic fortified towns and intense summer heat.
Intense summer heat... That's a right point - only the Coast is cooler, the other places are very hot in summer!
What a beautiful country! And that perfect blue sky WOW😍😍
Hiya Debbs, thats why I moved here from Sheffield a few years ago, so much to see as well, but the weather is the main Pull
I remember that about Portugal, a church is white outside but inside is a burst of beautiful colors 🎨
Portugal is beautiful. I’ve been to Alentejo several times already.
Nice way to close out your Portugal trip. The countryside is gorgeous. Safe travels and see you both in your next destination. 😊
The holes in the floor of the tower were used for protection. In ancient times, during invasions, boiling oil would be poured through the holes on to anyone coming up the stairs trying to attack the people who were defending the fort.
Chris and Carol, I have been enjoying your videos. They're great!
As you're going to Lisbon, please please do go to Sintra. I can assure you you will not regret. It is simply beautiful! There is a palace on top of the hill and a moors castle. Plus more palaces in the actual villa. It is a world heritage place. Enjoy! 😊👍
Thanks for helping us to keep the Portugal vibe alive. We received our Visas and will be moving there next week. Be safe and thank you for sharing your journey.
Very cool old, fortified town. I love that it's atop a hill with beautiful vistas (on the first day anyhow).
Ola boa tarde, obrigado por visitar o alentejo e Beja a cidade onde nasci, para a prxima tem que conhecer a costa alentejana, por agora boa viagem e um abraco desde a Holanda.Take care!
Good video, as always! Only a few wrong points:
- Beja is actually a very historic village. It was formed by the Conic celts and, some centuries later, it became a Roman city with the name "Pax Julia" (the today's name Beja became from "Pax" or "Pace").
Actually it's not that of a "elder city", it's actually one of the youngest cities of Alentejo, with a below-24 population of around 25% (the average rate in the region is around 10% or even under that). More young than that in the region only in Mora or Campo Maior.
This was filmed on a Monday? That seems so... I say that because most restaurants in Beja close on Sundays and Mondays at lunch...
11:07 No, that's actually not a bridge to unite Portugal with Spain. Right there is another Portuguese municipality called Mourão (and I recommend a visit to Mourão: it's also an historic border village with a castle (I think it has been on construction in the last months), a well preserved village centre where Portuguese people still live there (in Monsaraz that's not the case anymore) and a beautiful garder right next to the City Council. Ah, and it has also a very good restaurant, well known by food and culture lovers for years.
Ah, another interesting fact: right next to the border you mention, there is one of the most controversial areas of the Raia: the Olivenza territory. It's a dispute area between Portugal and Spain, but it's a very pacific dispute, so you can visit Olivenza for sure (and it's a very Portuguese city with a beautiful city centre, by the way...).
24:24 That "river lake think" it's the largest reservoir in Western Europe and it's called "Barragem do Alqueva" (the Alqueva dam). The river is called Guadiana and it's one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. When you were in Castro Marim, do you remember seing a bridge over a river and, right next to the river, seing a village (Ayamonte)? So, that's the same river as you are seing in Monsaraz...
Well, thanks to all this work done! It's a shame that the pandemic has cancelled all our dreams, but this will all pass and, in the next year, COVID would be a thing of the past for sure... 😁
Diogo, thanks for your observations, they add great context and clarity.
Can't believe you guys are leaving Portugal !!!! Because of your vids I will be going for sure when the World opens up again and I don't have to wear a mask everywhere!! Thanks
Thank you so much for your Portugal videos. They were the best and I will miss them so much. I will watch them again and again. See you wherever you go!✈🚅⛵🚲🚗🚕🚌🚄
Wonderfully relaxing. Beautiful drone shots.
Hi Carol & Chris
Nice to see you in my home town Beja, my siblings still live there. I was born near the Santa Maria church.
The castle was built by the moors but the tower was added later by the portuguese, it is the tallest castle tower in Portugal.
If you saw a part of the tower's top that looked more modern is because a few years ago it collapsed and was rebuilt.
Have a safe trip. Cheers.
Beautiful medieval town! Pristine, the town and the fortifications, like frozen in the past!!
Awesome tour with so much history. Full view my friend😍👍
The places you've been to are so quite, 'don't see any person roaming around, but the sceneries are really amazing. Very good for solitude and enjoying inner peace.
Such a beautiful area in the south, I could imagine how it looks in the north region. Great drone footage and I loved the castle and churches. The insides of the churches are where you find the art that is amazing. I loved the last building you went into and the fact it still had ancient artwork on the dome, it was a church even though they have it stamped fort, but then you were staying in a fort. I am glad you had a nice trip heading to your flight. just started to miss mom and dad but knew you had to go and plans were waiting. blessings my friends as god watches over you and keeps you in good health. Peace to my most coolest couple I have ever known, always in our hearts no matter where you are.
Brilliant, just caught this in my lunchbreak from homeschooling. Beautiful road trip. Full of green countryside. Brilliant drone shots. The Castle looks well kept. Great views from the top. Cool tunes. Great video. Another beautiful sunset. Excited about your new adventures. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week.
A beautiful old town. I'll have to take a trip up there next winter. Thanks for the Portugal videos. They have been fun to watch.
Wow congratulations! This was the most beautiful video and the most complete virtual tour I watched about these historic cities. thanks
❤️🇵🇹
Thank you guys for your fantastic videos and for your special care kindness about Portugal.
I hope you come back and visit:
Viana do Castelo, Guimaraes, The douro Valley, Braga, Porto of course, Coimbra, Nazare and the giant waves, the enchanted Óbidos, Ericeira and the surf 🏄♂️ spot, Sintra and kings Palaces, Mafra and Cascais G7, Tróia, Sesimbra and the beaches from Arrábida 😍, and of course the islands Azores where Picó and Faial and Flores are so so beatiful & the pearl of the Atlantic Madeira and Porto Santo.
Take care guys!!
Beautiful old city, and the viu on the top of the castle.I'm a litle sad that you're living Portugal. But see you in the next place.
Really enjoyed your Algarve videos and now these less well known border towns. Where else are you stopping before you get to Lisbon? Its nearly a year since we have been able to get to our place in Lagos but these videos just make us miss Portugal even more - Enjoy your next adventure!
Your Portugal series was really neat, we await to see your next journey, can’t wait!!! #jumpingplaces #portugal
Your drone shots are awesome! Can’t wait to follow you two more! 💕
Alentejo is by far the best region in Portugal to have a holidays house.
Wow! Time flies when you're having fun in Algarve.🤩
6:33 & 16:04 Stunning view point from the castle!👍🏻
10:58 Cool! Spain border looks so close to Portugal 🤗
Btw thanks for sharing your road trip & awesome aerial drone. Safe drive to Lisbon & cheers from Malaysia ♥️🇲🇾🌏🌍
Great Video, thank's for sharing. You choose a nice place and you have much more historical villages like this one in Portugal.
Everywhere you visited in this video was just picture perfect! I really liked the look of that castle.
Looking forward to seeing where you end up next 😃
Wow, beautiful scenery aerial shot of the Algave. Thanks for the visit. That small town looks like from a movie Song of Bernadette
Actually it's not Algarve, it's Alentejo, and sometimes saying that Alentejanos are Algarvians it's considered an insult...
(in fact, these are two very different region and there is actually more in common between a person from Porto and another from Ourense than a person from Tavira and another from Mértola).
Thanks for the historical tour! Love the view!
Stay safe on your trip mam carol and sir cris..much love from cebu city p.h
5:20-> Mother Nature approves..and adorns the castle with her 'gold' accent.
5:22 to 6:26-> Awesome! The precision engineering, the 'perfect circle' tower/spiral stairway...everything constructed precisely to the millimeter.
And all for military purposes...such is humanity......
8:46-> Stop! Museo da Vinha! ..the sign!...the wooden wine casks! Aberto(open!) Wine tasting/local cuisine/coffee/dessert.....oh no.....missed it....
11:35-> Cannon balls...real antique cannon balls as parking indicators...nice touch.....
12:26-> Carol..camera strap over the shoulders...camera won't be dropped/stolen(grab 'n run)/lost etc....
Another lovely video of your travels. Good luck for your future travel plans wherever you roam! Maybe bump into you again in Portimão in the future when life is easier for all of us. Keep safe 😊
on a next time, come to Évora, the biggest and historical city of Alentejo
Stay safe! Great videos greetings from Bolivia

Another excellent adventure guys thanks so much for sharing I'm two weeks behind and just found out you're in Mexico now so cool,. catching up...
Can't wait to see where you are going next. I'm hoping somewhere in South America.
Many greats from Benagil
thanks for sharing , another great video
loved all the blogs from Portugal good luck
The castle in Algarve I believe was built by the moors that’s why looked different.
Lots of castles in Alentejo were also build by the moors...
@@diogorodrigues747 Most of the castles were built on top of other building like for example Obidos castle, built by the moors on top of a Roman fortified building, Alentejo has a few medieval castles and Monsaraz is a big example. The Moors built castles by the coast mostly to protect invaders (vikings, pirates), the Portuguese built by the border with Spain and rebuilt what’s left by the moors after the “re-conquista”.
Time sure flies. Hope you left before the lockdown. Where are you headed now? Algarve series was amazing.
Probably Lisbon and then out of Portugal for sure...
I am still your subscribers The Jumping Places.. Watching your vloggs in everywhere u goes😊🎉🎊😘
Fantastic American Sean bean accent there, made my day. A Yorkshireman in Ukraine.
Much love from 🇺🇲
Amazing view 👍 stay safe Chris and Carol 🥰❤️
The way your girl pronounces “Alentejo” /“estalagem de monsaraz” makes me think she is “brasileira”.
By the way, I just got to know your channel and I'm really enjoying your series in Portugal.
I finished watching the “episode”! It’s clear now! 😁
Awesome place to visit someday. 😎
Keep going.. very nice your videos...

"It's to a castle I will take you
, where what's to be, they say will be..."
Falta Vocês ir em Cascais, sintra, Nazaré, parabéns, gostei imenso do canal.
Great video. Thanks for the share. Have a great day!
Love you both
Chris , great video as always, are you guys coming to Madeira?
Exist a big diference, between Village [🏘️ *+* 🌄] and Town [🏘️ *+* 🌄 *+* 🏙️(In 🇵🇹, gereality older.)]. The words *"Vila"* (Town in 🇵🇹.) and Village are similar, but not are the same thing. Village in portuguese, is *"Aldeia"* 📖
Lovin you both, Keep it coming.
Hello jo. I from india your vedio very thirilling ❤️❤️❤️
Please keep yourself safe
Lovely vlog
great blog video 😍
Great video
Good afternoon just wondering wheee did you all stay in Algarve short monthly stays ? We’re planning our trip there next year and where it’s a good place to stay and reasonably price ? Thx for your feed back ! Great videos were been fallowing you both for a while 😎
nice to see you guys, misss u here in phillipines
Nice place .. Stay Safe couple
😍
😍
You did a good job, but may I correct you on Beja being full of old people? There's a polytechnic there and several schools, and had you visited that area you may have seen young people.
What brand of backpack was Carol using on this trip to Monsaraz?
very good
Thank you :-)
lovin the go pro 9 just wondering what video editing software you recommend. Thanks so much!
We use adobe premier pro 😁👍
@@JumpingPlaces awesome thank-you so much and stay safe!
Top 😆
No locals around🤔
Winter, covid, most of the houses are for weekends and holidays.
Wow 😊
Hey looks, like we have been to the exactly same time in Portugal. We also did a video there! Funny! Check it out if you want!
Look more like an abandon town. As ancient as it is, must be scary to be left there after sunset.
Scary why? Portugal it's actually a very safe country (the 3rd in the world according to the Global Peace Index).
@@diogorodrigues747 not scary of crimes but eerie to be left alone in the night as in scary from ghosts and other paranormal energy
@@El_.5794 Paranormal energy? LOL, are you a conspirationist?
Do they sell Big Macs in Portugal?
Off course
I think that's actually a common thing in all McDonald's across the world...
Just remember when traveling to Portugal one should eat the local food, McDonald’s just for emergencies, lmao
Inglês 😢
