As I'm watching the aerial view of Moura, I'm thinking how interesting the town looks and that I wish I could see the town up close. Just then, Nick says "I'm going to take a little stroll." Thank you for showing us these glimpses of the real Portugal. This was another great installment. It got me thinking about the construction of these castles. Imagine building something like that in the 12th or 13th century without modern building techniques and power tools.....simply amazing. I think the Portuguese Tourism Board should be underwriting your whole production of this castle tour. The King did it for the other guy 500 years ago didn't he?
Another great episode Nick. We have a Portuguese shop here in Cardiff which sells great Pastel De Nata....but, it's also closed on Mondays! I think the Portuguese have solved the 'I hate Mondays' issue. They just don't do Mondays. 🤣🤣🤣
Astounding content, as usual, makes me think that I wouldn't mind living in medieval architecture…. I was also wondering why these cities are so quiet. I just caught a glimpse of a pilgrim roaming in one of the villages. 😂 At least we know that Mondays are not good for tourism…
They're so quiet because everyone has left for the cities. The majority of the Portuguese population left the countryside and went to Lisbon, Porto or France in search of work.
@@AlgarveAddicts France? Of course! It makes sense, I never realised that they had a French Queen consort named Amélie of Bourbon-Parma or Bourbon-Siciles ( I don't remember anymore )… I also love France but it has tremendously changed, while Portugal seems safer there is still this feeling of Dolce Vita through some of your videos 👌🏼
Hi Nick, I really enjoyed your video! It was so informative and interesting, and I loved the drone footage. It gave me a great sense of the scale and beauty of these castles. As I was watching, I wondered what the villages looked like hundreds of years ago, and what the activity was like during the conflicts. I can imagine that life was very different then, and that these castles were important centers of power and defense. Great job , we're looking forward to the next one.
It's so good to read your comment Larry (and many others) as the viewing count hasn't really been up there with my more Algarvian content. That's understandable I guess, but it really makes it worthwhile when I read comments like yours. Cheers 🙏🏼
Another great video Nick! But you didn’t mention the name of the restaurant in Mourao. We’re going in October and setting up a trip to Alentejo. Going to start in Evora and end up in Monsaraz but might get to Maurao. Can’t wait to have some pork cheeks.
You're right I should have mentioned it AND filmed it, but it felt kinda weird eating on my own and filming myself as well would have made me appear to be a TOTAL freak to the small town of Mourão :) Here's the restaurant: maps.app.goo.gl/FxkRoywhSLmWHtq16 O Pátio de Oliveira.
HI NICK, I LOVED THE VIEWS, SUPERB COUNTRYSIDE ÁREAS, I'M JUST MISSING THE USUAL INFO YOU ALWAYS ADD TO YOUR VIDEOS ABOUT SCHOOLS, ENTERTAINMENT, SHOPS, MEDICAL... ARE PLANING ON DOING THAT FOR THE NEXT ONES? THANK YOU.
Hi Jose, yes for the town videos in the Algarve, but this series is all about exploring rural Portugal by following castles (these videos are not designed to help you relocate to rural Portugal) - I'm doing it in stages and seeing how well they're received..
Nick if i could sub twice to your channel i would. UA-cam is a slow difficult grind. But then you get channels like Dave In Portugal. His channel sky rocketed so fast. Great video though. You gonna get the Dji Mini 4 Pro?

Exactly, I contacted the tourism board and they didn't want to know. They said we can't help you...

Os museus estão fechados às segundas-feiras
Thanks Sara, I kinda figured that out after a whole day of closed gates (except for Moura).
