My Theory is that the guy in bandages is The Joker from earth 0. At the beginning it was shown that Joker UNDERSTOOD what was happening before everyone else did. Not only that but he disapeared in a similar fashion as batman. The joker UNDERSTOOD what was going on before baebatos invasion. The story even opens with BWL saying "you thought you had everything figured out didnt you?" Not to mention he has the skillset and insanity to track down AND capture joker. Why is he shackled??? Because the joker understood before anyone..he may also be the key in stopping barbatos.

After all the years of dealing with the joker you would think his natural response to green smoke would be to get away
Anyone who didn't like this issue is just wrong. What I loved about it is that, compared to the other Batman issues, this Batman was forced/ didn't have a choice in becoming the way he did, it just happened. The red death chose to take the speed force from barry, the murder machine chose to let the Alfred AI back into the batcave, the dawnbreaker chose to use hate to power his ring and corrupt it, the drowned chose to go to war with Aquawoman and change their physiology, the merciless chose to put on the helmet, and the devastator chose to use the doomsday serum. This Batman just went crazy.

You could argue that he chose to kill the Joker...yeah it was an extreme situation but that doesn’t negate the choice he made
it was more of an ultimatum than a choice, given that if he knew this would be the outcome he probably wouldn't have done it or seek help before he lost his shit or end his own life.

What makes this dark batman special is that he isn't a dark version of batman. He is the same good guy batman that got taken over by the Joker. He is not "another dark version" of batman. He IS Batman

Neat idea, but can't be the same since this Joker killed Gordon before encountering Batman, whereas in the killing joke batman freed Gordon first. Could be an interesting easter egg though.

Another few things about Batman Who Laughs:
1) He created a legion of psychotic Robin's. Also he went on an immortals killing spree after the Justice League fell.
2) Alfred of that universe actually came close to killing him but was swayed by his trickery when Batman Who Laughs pleaded with him that he can actually be cured and became his loyal servant.
3) He leads the Dark Knights. Basically every Batman of Dark Multiverse that became evil.
4) In Earth-0 he turns Gotham into this death tournament where he conquered Arkham Asylum, caused a mass breakout and turned several villains into his generals whom must guard the pathway to the mountain where he awaits as the final boss. Leading to his forces going against the Teen Titans and Suicide Squad.
Among other things.

I’ve been waiting for this my entire life!! All my life I’ve be thinking that Batman’s normal serious and brooding manner isn’t as scary as if he LAUGHS and SMILES while doing it. Then they took it to an EVEN MORE EXTREME level, him killing all his friends after killing the Joker and getting infected! This is darker than injustice! Better be the NEXT BIG THING, since TDKR!
A lot of this seems to have been used in Gotham. Joker blowing up the city, reenacting the death of the Wayne’s, etc.

I prefer it to be animated cuz DC does it the best... plus, the story is super brutal and super bloody graphics are expected.

Even though the laughing bat got me hooked,the connecting story between laughing batman and batman as we knew him felt rushed.The point of all the training of batman as well as all his mentality and ideology was to prefer dying than killing,once he killed someone he was pretty much dead,as a symbol.Because batman while the mask on is a symbol rather than a person.
I feel they could come up with a way better story for batman to kill himself metaphorically (because this is what he is all about,even the change to laughing batman is the after death metamorphosis).
