  • This time lapse, filmed in four states and five months in the making, features mostly night scenes shot at breathtakingly beautiful locations including snow-capped mountains, red rock mesas, the Pacific Ocean, and the high Sierras. The film is meant to be inspirational. It was filmed using three Sony A7R2s at resolutions above 8K and was downscaled to 4K in post production. There are approximately 8000 still images that went into the making of this film.
    Lenses used on the A7R2s:
    Sony 28mm f2.0
    Zeiss Batis 18mm f2.8
    Sony/Zeiss 55mm f 1.8

Thank you very much for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed watching the film as much as we enjoyed making it! We plan to start on a new multi month time lapse film project later next month. Hopefully, if the weather and many other things cooperate, we'll have it done by late September.

This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. One day, I'll get to go somewhere, away from lights and see it for myself.

I live in a small to medium sized city where only a handful of stars are visible and always look forward to the spring and summer filming season when we hit the road to go to the dark places where these films are made. What area or country do you live in?

I wish I could be of more help to you, but I'm afraid that I'm just not familiar with where you can find real dark sky areas in India. However, I would suggest that you try a Google search and use the words dark sky astronomy India. Also, try to search for astronomy clubs. If you contact one of them, they could probably steer you in the right direction.
You should be aware however, that what you will see with the naked eye will be quite spectacular and well worth the effort, but it won't look like what you are seeing in our films, since our lowlight sensor high resolution cameras taking 15-25 second exposures are capable of capturing more detail than can be seen with your eyes alone. But, again, it will still be awesome. I know we never get tired of it and we've done a lot of it. It never gets old!

Climate should be dry and clear for a good view, you will also find info on which months the Milky Way can be viewed and at what time.

Thank you so much for that. As for the dedication at the end, this is something , as a parent, I feel very strongly about. The thought of innocent children loosing their lives or otherwise being hurt, is just painful for me.
Regarding this new film, after months of painstaking work, when you finally put it out there, it's always interesting to hear how people respond. The balance for me today for the one negative comment, was one I got this morning from a guy on an astrophotography forum, who is one of the world's leading people in that field, Dr. Roger Clark a planetary scientist, who has a website called Clarkvision. Last year, he jumped all over me for my blue leaning color grade of our film, The Milky Way, A Journey Through The Sky. He HATED my color grade, whereas, most people- the non professionals, liked it. I was really wondering what kind of response I would get from him on this one with its more "natural" grade. He absolutely loved the film and the color work, which coming from him, was high praise indeed. So, things have a way of balancing out!
      Best regards,
      Barry

Hi mel Bee, I'm not sure if you're aware of the fact that the other thing we do is make underwater films. I just finished editing this one which we shot in July on the reefs off Cozumel Mexico. They are some if the best coral reefs in the world. This is a high res 2D version of a film we shot in 3D for a new 3D theater planned for Cozumel next year.
I have no doubt that you are someone who appreciates the natural beauty of our planet, both above and below! The film is named Planet Earth, The Undersea World. It's a little over 14 minutes long and designed to be VERY relaxing. Here's a link to the film on our other channel.

Think about this, 1 single star, any star out of the millions that can be captured in 1 frame, holds a whole galaxy. And said galaxy is millions maybe billions of miles wide. And there are millions that you can capture in a single frame on a camera. And even beyond the visible galaxys (stars) are more, possibly bigger galaxys. Which kinda in a way means you are looking at more things that you could even think of. And if the universe is expanding constantly at an increasing speed, the more things your looking at without knowledge by, and these new galaxys could be in theory parallel galaxys, which means you could be staring right at yourself, and neither of you parallel beings would even know... and that could be infinite.

Amazing footage! I think you captured a geosynchronous satellite at 2:48, in the upper left corner quadrant of the screen. It seems to be motionless compared to the tree, which means it's not moving with respect to the Earth! Very hard to catch. :-)

    • @Tarnway0412
      @Tarnway0412  4 роки тому +3

Thanks, for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the film. Actually, unfortunately, what you are seeing at 2:48 is a hot pixal, also sometimes referred to as a stuck pixal. Sometimes, particularly on hot nights, the camera sensor will get these as it heats up during a long timelapse. They can be minimized by doing a sensor remap. I also have software which will eliminate most of them, but if pushed too far, it will also start eliminating stars. That hotpixal was particularly, stubborn. :)

    • @Tarnway0412

Hi Sarah, scenes in this were filmed at: Burney Falls in California, Mt. Shasta in California, Capital Reef National Park in Utah, and Mendocino California.
Of course, what you are seeing in the film is what the camera sees with its high resolution low light sensor. Even with the naked eye, it is quite an amazing sight, but our eyes can't see all the detail and color which a long exposure by the camera will.
