Space is endless and its beauty is just amazing. Those scenes are what we cannot see everyday. We have similar contents too and what you've done is a great work. Thx for such a nice video of the Milky Way !!
Thanks for your comment. Yes, we do have some similar scenes, particularly some of the ocean scenes with the boat lights are similar to those in our 2019 film- The Milky Way a Journey across Land And Sea. I particularly like your scene at 2:17 with the tree foreground. It was REALLY NICE! I also see you had a go at Yosemite Tunnel View with the unfortunate but predictable result of timelapse killer headlights. We gave up on that one for night work but instead took advantage of the great sunrises you can get from there and used a lapsed sunrise in one of our other films. Best regards, BC PS: This year, if we can get enough content for a new or hybrid film, we probably will do it in 8K as well.
Where I live, I see some stars, but not very many. Same problem you have! Fortunately, I get to spend quite a bit of time in the spring and summer- when the Milky Way core is above the horizon- traveling to dark areas where there is no light pollution and the stars like to hang out and show off!!
If you're on land in a light polluted area but looking out over the ocean, you might see a bit more, but it still could be a problem. Obviously, it will be better if you are at the beach by a smaller community. A beach at a big city would probably not be so good. Here is a link to our most recent film from 2018. Take a look at the scenes from 47 seconds to about 1:11. They were filmed from an area by a small town with about 7300 people. It worked out pretty well. m.ua-cam.com/video/rSWqY5XOKcs/v-deo.html You should also be aware, that the Milky Way comes up from certain parts of the sky, depending on where you live. You want to be sure that when you are facing the ocean, you are looking in the correct direction, and at the right time. There is a very good app called Photo Pills which will give you all this information. Regards, BC

That is so beautiful - well done for all your hard work. Here in England, even on a clear night, we see very few stars in most areas. It is so amazing when you see what's really out there.
Thank you for your comment. We do feel fortunate to be able to access many dark sky areas where we can truly see the stars and make these films. Right now I'm in the editing process for a new night sky film for this year. With Covid, unpredictable weather, clouds, and smoke from numerous forest fires, it's been a real challenge. I'm adapting to this by utilizing some truly different techniques which should make for a very unique night sky film. Hopefully, it will be up on the channel within a couple of weeks.

Thanks! After having done this for sometime now, I think the most difficult part isn't the filming itself but the post production work where I often spend countless hours trying to edit out headlights, flashlights, etc. They can really kill a night timelapse.

Thanks for your comment!! Yes, a tremendous amount of time, and effort, goes into filming and editing these. Of course, the good news is we love making them and the travel and night times spent outdoors at beautiful locations.
I'm still using a Note 4, but unless something has drastically changed, Milky Way photography with a smartphone is just not feasible- at least if you want any kind of quality at all. For night sky photography, you really need a camera capable of shooting long exposures, often 15-25 seconds or more, at high ISOs, usually at least ISO 1600 and higher. Also, the lenses should be at least F2.8 or wider. Additionally, the sensors should be big and sensitive enough to allow for very low light photography without becoming noisy- very grainy looking. I just don't think that smartphone lenses and sensors are truly up to the task.
I wish I could have given you better news, but I just didn't want you wasting your time trying to do this and ending up disappointed. Best regards, Barry
Amazing and beautiful. Starting at around 1:37and viewing at.025 speed I swear that I am seeing 3 maybe 4 shooting stars actually turn at right angle. It occurs In the lower right corner of screen. Anyone else notice this or am I nuts 😂
There are a few areas of the film where there are some strange anomalous movements like what you have described. These could be caused by what are known as hot pixals, which are ramdom lit up pixals in the camera sensor. They can come and go. The Sony cameras we use, particularly the A7R2, are known for this. When I see them in the foreground, they are easy to get rid of in the editing process, but when they are mixed with thousands of stars in the sky, they are virtually impossible to single out. There are also several parts of the film where you can see satellites. That being said, there are parts of the film which have some very strange things going on which may not be able to be explained by hot pixals. Any speculation would be welcomed!
Yosemite Channel- Barry Chall Films Thanks for your honest answer. Any input I could offer would be pure speculation and above my expertise and pay grade. The filming is stunning!
By definition, any unexplained areal phenomenon is a UFO. I've had a talk with Barry regarding these anomalies and if you pay really really close attention, there are thousands in the whole video. All have different velocities. I think hot pixels, satellites and shooting stars explain a bunch, but still there are a lot unexplained. Simply the velocity-differentials (as well as angles and sudden disappearances) strike me as odd. Check out: 2:47 - Put it on big screen. And then check the upper region to the left of the big tree. From the bottom of the screen about 60% up vertically. And from left to right at about 30percent. Lots happening there.
benyamind Yes there is a ton of things going on, as you say, different velocities, variable directions some appear to actually go “up” ...lol I was thinking as far as the ones I was questioning that appeared to actually turn, might possibly be planes, but I don’t think that is correct either. By definition they are UFO’s and will probably remain a mystery .. regardless it captures the imagination and admire the effort put into these filming productions.
Yeah I think the ones you are referring to our airplanes. As it's time-lapsing it highlights the flight-path. And maybe that's a route or something. As for the really fast ones with a slight bend: Most of them definitely shooting stars. A shooting star in real-time is often relatively slow and this seems about right. As for satellites, he is capturing bits of the sky and we don't have enough up there to account for all the dots. That's unrealistic. Hot pixels, I don't have enough knowledge regarding their behavior visually to exactly know what is what. Some occurrences seem rather 'organic' to me though. And some I see I think are indeed hot pixels, moving a bit more mechanic and 'stuck'. Definitely interesting. But as you said, we should admire this film. The universe is humbling, very much. I have thought about the fact people often say it makes them feel small. Lately I've been having the opposite feeling, it makes me feel significant. Like somehow the earth is deeply significant.
Thanks, much appreciated! We just started a new 4 month time lapse project which will be filmed on locations in 5 states and, hopefully, will be completed and up on the channel in September. As you are now a subscriber, your opinion will be valued, when it's released.
And think the universe is still expanding and another galaxies, which idk if theres life on it, are created. Probably that time that u took to read this, universe expanded millions of light years.
3:34 look at that huge dark c sign formation in the galaxy just above that high mountain in the center of screen...always is there from the oldest picture of milky way to the newest ones ...wonder what keeps such huge formations in the same position for ever...you see that c formation at 1:55 and 1:05 and 1:41 and others too...btw interesting music
We plan to keep making these as long as we can. This year has been really challenging with Covid, bad weather, smoke from forest fires, etc. But, we've got some GREAT new material, just not as much as we hoped for.
I hate light pollution. People could see this every night the world would be a better place if people realized how amazing our night sky looked.

I have to watch this for school but man, this is just beautiful. You did an excellent job making this!
That's great. So, your class in school is having you watch the film? Just curious, what country are you in?

In case you're wondering why the colors are different in these films, it is because we graded them in what's called "natural color." In spite of what many people think, the late night sky isn't really blue at all and these are the real colors. The first film you watched was made to look blue, since that look is very popular- just not accurate.
Thanks for commenting.

very nice job. some beautiful dark skies. the music was appropriate too and not too overwhelming. thanks.
That's fantastic. The video is so good.
I feel healed.
Best regards,
BC
PS: This year, if we can get enough content for a new or hybrid film, we probably will do it in 8K as well.
“I see the Big Dipper, I see the.... wait... I can’t see anything more” -me sadly living with light pollution....
Where I live, I see some stars, but not very many. Same problem you have! Fortunately, I get to spend quite a bit of time in the spring and summer- when the Milky Way core is above the horizon- traveling to dark areas where there is no light pollution and the stars like to hang out and show off!!
I wonder if you go out in the ocean where on land light pollution is a factor. Will you be able to see the milky way in the middle of the ocean.
It worked out pretty well.
m.ua-cam.com/video/rSWqY5XOKcs/v-deo.html
You should also be aware, that the Milky Way comes up from certain parts of the sky, depending on where you live. You want to be sure that when you are facing the ocean, you are looking in the correct direction, and at the right time. There is a very good app called Photo Pills which will give you all this information.

Yosemite Channel- Barry Chall Films after hurricane Irma hit us, everybody’s lights when out. I saw a little bit of the Milky Way. It was cool but it wasn’t that spectacular. I wish I had waited until about 2 in the morning that day to REALLY be able to see it.
Of course, you shouldn't expect to see nearly as much color and detail with the naked eye as a camera will pick up with high iso and a 15-30 second exposure. But, it's still pretty damned impressive.
wonderful... thank you for uploading this beautiful film

Thanks for your comment! And yes, you are right about the huge amount time and effort which goes into making these. But, it's something which we truly love doing, so it's worth all the effort.

Wow ,,incredible !! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL
Thank you Rosanna, glad you enjoyed it. Last weekend, we started shooting this year's time lapse project. It will be filmed at several beautiful locations over a 4 month period and, hopefully, will be finished and on the channel in September.
I subscribed to their stunning channel !!! I am very excited :) Good luck with your new time laps project !!!.. many Greetings from Germany :))
Beautiful video! I can tell a lot of time and effort went into making that video. Nicely done!!!
Thanks Michael. You're quite correct, that definitely a lot of time and effort goes into making these short films. But, it's truly a labor of love!
@@Tarnway0412 thank you sir, it truly is a beautiful piece of work by you . So much dedication.
The sound and the scene are creating enough imagination lapse.
Really beautifull, thankyou very much!!!!!!!!! ; )))
And, thank you for your comment!! We're going to start filming another project like this in May which will take about 4 months and cover portions of 5 states- mountains, lakes, ocean, deserts, etc. We're hoping to have it finished and on the channel in September. If you'd like, you can subscribe to the channel, as we'd love to get your opinions on our future films. Since these films take several months to shoot and about a month to edit, we can only make one or two a year.
@@Tarnway0412 Great stuff I look forward to watching it. Yes people are under amazing stress at the moment with multiple problems around the world. I wonder if I could share a lovely positive hope based on the Bible with you about coping. Anyway keep up the excellent work.

It's like looking out there into a vast, unknown world on a tiny floating rock, because that's exactly what we are doing and it's an incredible feeling
Great comment!
When we are out late at night filming these, it's always a humbling experience, and kind of helps put all our minor day to day problems in perspective.
We were hoping to start a new multi-month Milky Way timelapse film project next month which would be completed in September, but the way things are right now, it's all in doubt. Hopefully, that will change.

Timelapses are a way to even take a sneak peek of our galaxy and the universe. We are just so small and we last for such a short time. If there's nothing else to wish for, I'd wish I could watch this, until the sun burns this planet to a cinder.
I'm absolutely blown away. And almost every star out there has at least one planet orbiting the star. Millions of other worlds out there. Some are extremely cold. Others extremely hot. And some have similar temperatures to earth.
WOW !!POW !!GREAT STUFF !!LOVED IT ALL!!SUPER AMAZING INDEED MUST HAVE TAKEN WEEKS , MONTHS!!!FROM (U.K.)

Breathtaking...!
Very well done..I’ve been doing Milkyway photos for about 7 months and it’s challenging.
Thanks Josh. It can be a bit challenging at first, but it gets easier and pretty routine after awhile. You'll pretty much end up using the same ISO, f stops, and shutter speeds everytime. The main thing is finding interesting foregrounds and backgrounds and the post processsing. On the otherhand, just when you think you've got it down, you end up doing something dumb like I did last weekend, shooting at night at Mt. Shasta. We were running 2 cameras and after a 2 hour time lapse at 1:30am, I realized I had one of the cameras set at f5.6 instead of f2.8. Damn!
If I may ask what lens is in cameras are you using as well as any additional Hardware?
Man I did not realise how bad voice the text bit me in posting that question🤨

Stunning! Asking the "how" is probably a sin, like asking an Monet how he did it, but ...

I love this song and the galaxy
It looks great and I know how difficult it is to make Timelapse at night.
Thanks!
After having done this for sometime now, I think the most difficult part isn't the filming itself but the post production work where I often spend countless hours trying to edit out headlights, flashlights, etc. They can really kill a night timelapse.
@@Tarnway0412
I have a problem in post-production, but I don't give up and I will try to do it. Your Timelapse looks really professional.

guys like us things that this is easy to do. no not at all there is so much work to put in to be able film a milky way like that. amazing work
Thanks for your comment!! Yes, a tremendous amount of time, and effort, goes into filming and editing these. Of course, the good news is we love making them and the travel and night times spent outdoors at beautiful locations.
@@Tarnway0412 thank you so much for your hard work. Can you upload a video of how to shoot the Milky way with Samsung phones
@@Tarnway0412 yes you are totally right
I wish I could have given you better news, but I just didn't want you wasting your time trying to do this and ending up disappointed.
Best regards,
Barry
Check out:
2:47 - Put it on big screen.
Great video
Thanks!
