Insta-pain. Just start blowing and suddenly I'm making the most horrible wheezing noises. I'm thinking it might take some practice before it sounds like the videos.
@@myersbob7517 It's a bit better, but I've been distracted by other toys. I just finished a year failing at oboe (but having enough fun to keep it for later sessions) and I'm using this year to get the basics on alto clarinet. I've already decided next year will be the Year of the Eupho. I keep coming back to the mellophone. I just love the way it sounds.
Thanks a lot for showing this, I've always wanted to learn how to play the Euphonium, but I've never had any talent when it comes to music and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get into it. Do you have any tips on how to get started?
I would recommend playing long tones. (F to E, then F to E flat), all the way to B flat. That is a good way to start building tone. As for getting into it, you could join a community or school band. I highly suggest you at least try the instrument for a year as it is a joy to play.
Tyler Ray Buy some Morgan Brace Bumpers. Your orthodontist should be able to provide some for free. If not, check with a music store. A good one will have them.
Ok now i’m confused because my teacher always says the the person with a more raspy tone has a good tone but mine sounds clear and she never says that to me 😭
Is this a private teacher, or a band director? Different teachers will look for different things based on their objective. For instance, a band director may be looking for a sound that blends with the rest of the ensemble rather than that of a soloist. Ask them what works better in the situation that you're playing in. Make sure your process matches the teacher's objectives. I hope that helps some. 😁
Good day, I have been playing Trombone for a year and keen to play the Euphonium. Actually I play it already after a few days practice, though I need to improve speed by doing scales on it as well. I basically interpret the fingerlings from the Trombone positions e.g. 6, 1&3, etc. however my question is and I have seen him using the 4th valve, when or for which notes does he use it and is there a sheet I can download? Thanks in advance!
Instead of using 1 and 3 for the c you use the 4th valve. F can also be played with the 4th valve and upper bb as they also can be played with no valves.
I play the Euphonium since 4 jears But my teacher had to teach the school Orchester and because I learn it at School I have to play the things they play at the Orchester because my teacher can't be at the Orchester and me so I play things i have played before 4 jears and then at the band i have more difficult Songs and i never played them before But every one else did and so I do not geel very comftorbale because I am not as good as the other People in the band so I stoppen going there and now I am probably as good as the Orchester But now I have Band in the 7 and 8 lesson and no Orchester anymore because Orchester is now in the 6 lessen But I have history in the 6 lesson so I only have Band. So i geel stupid. Sorry for my english i am from germany.
I like how he never refuted that the euphonium is somewhat an instatone

Any tips for someone with braces? It seems that they affect my embouchure and tone quality.

The fourth valve is the equivalent to the trigger on the trombone (F attachment)

Mine doesn’t sound anything like that
How would you fix air going through your nose when playing
get a clothes peg and put it on your nose.
