Beginning Euphonium Series: Embouchure & Buzzing

In this video, SSG Irving Ray teaches euphonium students what an embouchure is and simple ways to form a proper embouchure. He will then teach how to make a buzz on the mouthpiece while maintaining that embouchure.

This is a good video about basic embouchure lip position and blowing. 'buzzing' the mouthpiece is an EXERCISE to help learn how to position your lips, but when actually playing the full instrument you should NOT attempt to 'buzz into' the mouthpiece. All that is necessary is having your lips in the proper position and blowing air through your lips. It is actually the instrument itself that makes your lips vibrate when playing - but the player needs to control the position and tension of their lips so a good note is produced.

Thanks you very much for sharing. I am a trumpet player who keen to play a baritone for its beautiful deep and dark sound, and thought that the buzzing technic is the same, and now I see that it is not. Your video taught me how to correct my buzzing. Thanks a lot.

@@ILOVEAMERICANEAGLE In trumpet buzzing, the lips should be much more tied and firmed than in baritone. I think that trumpet buzzing is more difficult.
