The upcoming 2023 Nissan Z brings a 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 making 400 horsepower, RWD and either a 9 speed auto or a 6 speed manual! The 7th generation of the Z platform is now just called the "Z" and will be available spring of this year! I am very excited about this upcoming JDM sportscar, especially because it can be optioned with a manual transmission. We did get to check out the Z Proto in a studio in the past, but here is a production intent 2023 Z finished in Boulder Gray Pearl paint. I personally have quite a bit of interest in the upcoming Z and absolutely would consider owning one. It would definitely be a very different experience from my current cars!

I would add a 3” stripe going across the doors and bumpers stopping at the edge of the front corner crease that looks like an intake. That would add more shape.

Took delivery of a brand new black over orange 2003 Nissan 350Z Touring back in August 2002. If you would have told me in 20 years (almost exactly) the 2023 Nissan Z would still use some the same door handles, window switches, and identical heated seat buttons that is built on the same basic structure as the 350Z I wouldn’t have ever believed you 😂

Haha that’s crazy. Not quite as bad but my 2018 GT350R has the same cheap plastic center dome light and buttons as my old 2012 boss 302. It’s amusing what parts get carried through generations

precisely why i'm not sold on it, i don't think it's going to excite new buyers. the older cats like myself that remember the 280's and 300's will appreciate the styling but it won't resonate with young buyers i don't believe

If parts are being carried over, than that means more parts to be able to find and less money to pay for them... that's a good thing.

    • @joe2280
      @joe2280 2 роки тому

I get what you're saying, but a lot of the "carry over" parts come right out of the bulk parts bin at the Nissan factory that all of their cars use. This makes the cars cheaper to produce. You definitely would not want custom parts all over your Z.

The interior took ALOT of parts/design from both the 350z and 370z. If they would have created a new cabin template, I'd be all in. (previous 350 and current 370 owner). I do give Nissan props for bringing the electronics up to par.

I really love this looks like a 300ZX and not like the 350Z. This is a definate future classic because it already looks like one.
The 350 and 370 looked too short and round that always reminded me of VW Beetles, but this looks longer and sleeker and overall really beautiful. The 300ZX has always been one of my favorite cars.

As someone who already has a deposit down to get a Z this spring, I do feel like the interior is definitely lacking. Especially considering the type of interior a Hyundai Elantra N offers for 10k less. The plastics already look cheap, there's glossy black plastic on the worst possible surfaces (steering wheel, shifter, start button, auto rev match, infotainment, all the surfaces that you interact with basically), outside of some strips of leather there's not much breaking up the monotony of cheap hard plastics.
I know people who own older Z's are probably plenty happy with the obvious upgrade with the interior, but compared to relevant competition it does fall short.
All that being said, you don't buy a dedicated sports car for it's interior, but it does factor into the decision when you're looking to realistically spend 50K~ on a new car.

A service bulletin went out to the dealers and the issue was resolved. The turbos in these cars will blow if you let the oil get low but that's not a really an inherent engine flaw, turbo engines need oil to cool the turbos. You have kids tuning these engines and not maintaining them properly. I have put 40k on my redsport not one check engine light or rattle. I really like how this one looks. Seems like decent power for the price. Only concern would be dependability. Has Nissans dependability improved? My mom had a 06 maxima that was completely falling apart at 80k miles. Needed a trans, floor boards, asb module.

350z and 370z have been very reliable. This car has the same VR30 engine in the Q60s, which has been very reliable too.

Let me put it this way: 10/10 times I would take this car over a German car for reliability alone. Nissan sedans have been known to be troublesome for a while, but their trucks and Z's have always been rock solid

This quite honestly might be a car I’m going to purchase after it’s been out for a couple years. Not because it’s the fastest car I would own, but because it’s a 6spd manual, 2-seat sports car thats cheap enough to just store in my garage for the next 20 years, while watching its value skyrocket because of its manual, 2-seat configuration.

    • @ytsux9259

Buy a car to enjoy it, not to assume it'll appreciate in value. 🤣 Unless it's a rare collectible supercar, it ain't gonna appreciate much. I owned a S2000 when it came out, and even though S2000's resale value has been kept at a good rate, it's still hasn't appreciated much cuz it ain't a collectible car. I don't own it since 2006 but still love that sucker.

It's funny you want a car that's inherently the SAME CAR. Simply cuz its digital and turbo. I believe the performance Z now is the old nismo and the real upgrade is when the nismo comes out. If you drove a 370z nismo before and didn't like it? You're not going to like this... and if you suddenly like it cuz its turbo? Then you know your like is based on being fickle and not being a performance based car enthusiast

I’m reeeeally contemplating selling my ‘16 Nismo Tech 370Z for this… I mean… $20k to twin turbo the VHR engine and hope it doesn’t blow up, or…. Buy a new car with a full warranty… and still row gears and have fun.
Edit: fun fact… to get the Z’s center of gravity correct, Nissan had to move the gas tank inwards and up further, which means they needed to have a longer filled neck and bigger gas fill door. :-)
