LONG CON???? Boy what great timing pre Buff for this piece. A 60 yr long con in this category. A record that might never be broken.
I think Rachel Dolazal is the queen of impersonation
Just catching up on the Buffy news... WOW.
Rach flamed out in SPECTACULAR live TV fashion. Buff is gonna take it to the grave.@@georgeboehringer5530
Cos Play is the perfect description for the Pretendian phenomenon. People like Beverly Santamaria steeling the spotlight, the cash earnings and the legacy from Native artists and musicians is just the latest example. My first teacher in Native culture, arts and music was a white Italian-English American woman playing 'dress-up' on Sesame Street - that's the perfect example of colonialism in the modern world. Justice for Ms. Kelly Fraser - she's the young Inuk singer who took her own life after loosing to Beverly at the Juno's in 2018.

Thank you , love the quote “😂
This is all so heartbreaking and infuriating 😢🤬🤦🏾♀️
I'm younger than many of Buffy's fans (I never saw her on Sesame Street as a child) but I first heard about her from an elderly relative and so I grew up loving her music all my life 😞
Thanking the c😅bc
My Buffy favorite song is Soldier blue
Great discussion, unladies. Edward Norton’s link to Pocahontas was funny, but a little unfair to Norton. He has made no claim to being indigenous and you should have made that clear, because some might think otherwise given the context.
Why did you not call out Elizabeth Warren??
Because E.Warren did not base her entire career on her 1% Native American genes. Buffy made it central to her identity.
@@lah6739 LMAO she got into Harvard based on the lie that she was native and referenced it her entire career until she got exposed.
I am reminded of a Social experiment done by a Journalist whose Name was John Howard Griffin . He wrote a Book entitled ..Black like Me... He applied medication on himself used to cover up spots on Brown and Black skin. He traveled to the deep south. He experienced Racism and prejudice which greatly affected him. I am not Equating these Individuals to his experience but I am sure because of their embracing the Aboriginal Culture. They have felt the Bite of Racism. They may have started out with good intentions to combat Racism and other unequal treatment. The problem is they continued the Lie .
I agree that there are probably well-meaning intentions embedded in a lot of these cases, but of course that doesn't excuse their harmful behavior
@@unladylike Really enjoyed your Content and I would encourage you to do Commentary on John Howard Griffin
We need to stop calling light skinned people "fair skinned". "Fair" was applied to light skinned people because it historically meant "beautiful".
< not living a Pocahontas fantasy
The fact that you don't show your faces on this podcast speaks volumes. Plenty of other racial backgrounds are guilty of faking it not just Europeans.
Do they ever show their faces? I know some youtubers never do, but this is the first time I've seen this channel. . . so I don't know whether this is strange for them. 🤷🏾♀️
That said, you're right it's not only Europeans who fake their identity.
If those Indians are going to betray their race by race, mixing at some point, there won’t be any Indians
Just to clarify, this is an audio podcast posted to UA-cam. I'm white. This episode's guest is Indigenous. Both of our faces are highly googleable :)
