As always, a pleasure to watch your channel!! So relaxing, and a nice way to forget our troubles, at least for a little while!! Thank you sir, and have a great day!!!
Been watching your channel for a few months now. Very entertaining and informative for a novice like me. Just ordered the Traxxas 2021 Bronco (orange) which will be my first 1/10 crawler (I heard it’s more like a 1/9 or 1/8). Just ordered the Hobbywing combo for it because of your review. Got the 550 to make it a monster, hope it fits! Look forward to your review of the TRX4 new Bronco.
I liked the R1 a lot. I never needed more power really. I did get the R2 and use the 550 motor now in my Redcat Gen8. I love it. Put the the old system in my bronco and love it in there as well. So smooth.
Cool video. Now if everyone can write to Traxxas and ask for clear windows on the red and blue bodies, that would be great. Thanks. (orange, what were yoosa thinking Traxxas)
I have the 3300kv 550 system in my Trailwalker and i love it. Programs easily and it is a beast when I need it to be. I did have to start setting the punch a bit lower because the Axe system can twist steel axles and break driveshafts ect. Great video.
I have the v1 2300kv in my Gladiator and I love it. I mainly do super low speed crawling so don’t feel like I necessarily need the v2; no doubt i’ll pick one up in the future though. Thank you for the review F, superb info as always 👍🏼
Thankyou for another great video just had this setup done its awesome.ive been told if you run the truck in high speed to much it will damage the motor over time is this true.
I am going to buy all the needed parts for a UMG SCX10 II from your links. Would you recommend this motor for it also? Once I click a link to buy, will you get some profit for everything I purchase or just the one I clicked on? I am new to the hobby and love your content. I am trying to catch up, binging this weekend, lol.
I purchased the Axe 540L R2-2100KV - Foc system to go in my stock 10ii. Will the stock gearing work or do I need to change it. What would you recommend?
I just got the Copperhead so we'll compare soon. The biggest difference is the Copperheadcan handle 4S. Works with any motor and has the aux port for adjustable drag brake and others.
Hi, I enjoy watching all your vids very informative. I have a trx4 defender and was wondering if I should go for a fusion or axe r2. Any recommendation? Thanks
Seeing as how the defender is a pretty heavy truck if you were going to just use it on trails for crawling then I think it would be fine either way however if you plan on running it at higher speeds in the second gear I would go with the X you don’t necessarily need the 550 sons can but I would possibly go with something like the 2800 or even the 2300 540 size I think this would be a good middle ground for that size of truck
i was debating on using axe r2 esc and a holmes motor but i don’t know if it’s viable. with crawlmaster esc being non existent for a while i’m looking for best esc/motor pairing
I like the version 2 over the v1 in almost every aspect, except for the fact that it's really loud under load. The v1 could climb on second gear in my trx6 without making a peep. I also wish they had 550 sizes for the lower KVs.. But other than that, the better BEC and max amps are pretty helpful.
I'm not sure I understand the use for FOC. - is FOC intended to be used with the adjusting radio settings or - is it intended for people with RTR radios that need customization that just can't be achieved with RTR radios or - something else entirely? I guess my concern/issue is how to troubleshoot something if something isn't acting like you expected. Do you just reset everything back to stock and start over adjusting one setting at a time?
@Daryl Lackey: "FOC" is being used by the marketing department to confuse and dazzle consumers - and it WORKED! (Yay marketing!). Even our brave host continues to use "FOC" to describe the AXE's /closed-loop speed control/ - which is what they call it in the manual. (Maybe Hobbywing's marketing extends to the configuration app? I haven't had a chance to configure my Axe R2 yet... curséd work schedule.) No big deal, we're all human. To an Electrical Engineer (like me) FOC (Field Oriented Control) is sophisticated brushless motor control. It's better than simple methods used for, say, an R/C airplane, but the details are too technical to be anything but forum fodder unless you've got an advanced degree. (ua-cam.com/video/Nhy6g9wGHow/v-deo.html) With that out of the way: The /closed loop speed control/ (which our host mistakenly calls "FOC") isn't really about an the radio gear: It's usually called "drive/fly/whatever by wire": human tells the computer what s/he wants, and the computer figures how to do it. You just tell the car to drive slow, and the car will maintain the slow speed on its own. If you hit a big rock, sensors will notice and automatically apply more power to keep going at the same slow speed. As you start going down the big rock, it'll lower the power and apply brakes to maintain the same slow speed as it goes down. It uses its sensors to react with _inhuman_ speed, so the car keeps moving smooth and slow the entire time. Some drivers aren't keen on computerization, and it's totally understandable - when you hit a rock in an old 4x4, it'll stop and you have careful give it a bit more gas to get over the rock, and want to hit the brake when they go down. In my R/C Helis, everything works like this. When I move a stick on the radio, I'm not telling it to move the servos _at all_: I telling the onboard /computer/ I want to rotate the helicopter in the (X/Y/Z axis) at x° per second, and the computer figures out how far it needs to move the servos to do it. The gyros can sense how fast the helicopter is rotating, so it'll correct at inhuman speeds if it's rotating too fast or too slow (or in the wrong direction). Even the throttle on the engine has a sensor for RPM's, and corrects the throttle. The reason for the computerization is simple: Performance wins contests. Doubly so if the contest is life-or-death like a fighter jet.
I just purchased one of these esc motor combos from hobbywing, thanks for your video man. My question is do i need to keep the voltage at 6amp or 7.4amp since i have a stock servo for my 2021 Bronco Traxxas? Thanks for any input, love your channel.
What pinion and spur would be best for the sport? I’ve got stock 17/39 in it but I’ve got the 45 tooth spur wondering if that and the 12 tooth pinion the motor comes with will be good
Hi, Which one would you recommend for CrossRC UC6? 550 v1 with low Kv or 550 R2 3300 Kv? I don’t look towards speed/RPM, but torque/power (whole setup will could be up to 15 kg).
