When they were talking about class towards then end, it’s basically the main idea of conflict theory in sociology: the powerful and wealthy want everyone else to fight with each other so that they can’t come together and fight the rich and powerful as a united force
It's not as "simple" as Tesh is making it sound. The US is a country of contradictions. We are a country that has loads of food waste, yet at the same time many are suffering from food insecurity, struggling to put healthy food on the table to feed their families. Where people pay loads of money for a higher education, yet some children in elementary school need to rely on backpack drives for backpacks and school supplies to have something to use at school. Where many use Uber Eats and Hello Fresh, yet others get reduced or free lunches to be able to eat. And where teachers pay out of pocket to supply their classrooms so they can teach, yet there are less teachers to teach the children and schools are getting shut down. As to the migrants sewing their mouths shut. I get the symbolism, like a step farther that Gandhi's hunger strike. Yet in the current situation, it seems more like the saying about "drinking poison" and expecting the other person to die.
your the only country that i know that think protecting your border is debatable and don't punish illegal immigrant.. cause for me if i want to go to your country legally and i see your letting your illegal in then what's the point of me going through all the legal process paying large amount of money and time? its like a child buying chocolate and he see his friend just stealing without punishment or reprimand..
They have to. I actually heard a story from a very famous Mexican youtuber. Saw a family asking for help (mom, dad and kid) at the Mexicali border and he helped them out by letting them stay in his second home. The man promised he would clean up the house and add necessary renovations instead of paying rent, and the youtuber agreed. Well a few months turned into 2 years, and the man never did the renovations promised, and the house was turned into a fucking shithole. He had to get the cops to kick them them because on top of everything, they refused to leave. Mexicans had tried helping these immigrant, for everything to be turned back against them ("they just feed us rice and beans") so they did all this. My friend in Mexico said that most of them are not even Latino immigrants. She said "they don't even speak Spanish. Only God knows where they are from." I think they were using the Mexican border to get in.
"Migrants" aka welfare seekers. Notice how there are barely any women and children. And the fact that they're willing to travel hundreds of miles to the US (California) even though they can go to safe, Spanish-speaking countries, that are closer like Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, etc. So even by the UN's definition, they aren't refugees
There is so much crap regarding illegal immigrants coming out of this episode. Sad, so many don't know a dame thing about this subject. Not really a topic to make fun of. So muck bad info.
It’s not correct to say they pay taxes and don’t get benefits of paying taxes, those go to our roads and infrastructure and the phones we see being given “for free” and helping people with food and housing. Even if someone can’t vote or use certain portions that a legal US citizen could, they are still using their own tax dollars.
Yeah, sovereign countries should end, all humans should have brown hair and light brown skin and wear should all have to wear grey jumpsuits and all think the same ...that would be so awesome
Genuine genuine question here because I truly don’t understand: I get Mexicans and Central Americans seeking asylum here because it’s just geographically close but why do people get on planes and boats and travel around the world to get to central and South America to make their way to the US-Mexico border instead of seeking asylum in a different country that’s at least located on the same continent or even hemisphere? Should people be given asylum if they are not safe in the country they were born in? Sure. However, I think if you’re desperate to get out of your situation you wouldn’t be picky about where you move to as long as it’s safe compared to where you’re coming from. Unless you were born on that soil, I don’t think anyone is entitled citizenship in the country of their choosing. My question is is there a reason why refugees from all over the world are coming here other than they just chose to try for asylum in the US because it’s their top choice? And if there isn’t any legitimate law or reason, then does it become okay to deny them asylum? My thoughts are that if you had the capacity to look at a map and choose where you want to go instead of living in whatever first world country would take you on short notice and then you had the ability to cross oceans and continents to get here then are you really that much in need of asylum? I haven’t researched immigration policy or anything so I truly don’t know shit but if I were a refugee afraid for my life I’d go to the nearest safe country not face more uncertainty and waiting in limbo just to get into my preferred choice. If anyone has the time and would like to enlighten me that would be awesome because I’m curious to know but not curious enough to do a deep dive.
