I have been soaking up all of these videos on frog fishing. From how to walk one, to these simple tricks. I grew up a fisherman with my dad, but we did very basic old style fishing if you will. Find a cove on the water at night, bait up some minnows and drop straight down the side of the boat. Then after fishing all night, in the morning we would troll with a swim bait at a slow pace with the lure behind the boat in tow. It wasn't until I was an adult that I started learning about texas rigging with plastic worms. Learning buzz baits, swim jigs, crank baits, and now frogs has been a blast. Frog fishing has become my favorite style and I haven't even caught my first one on one yet. LOL. Thanks for the videos guys.
This is where your experience really shines through. And the exact reason I subscribe to and watch all your videos. There's no telling how many countless fish I have hooked up on just from the knowledge I have gained from watching you and Tim. I don't think you realize how many father-son fishing trips and tournaments you and Tim have made better by the information that both of you share on your UA-cam channel. Thanks
Top water is my favorite way to fish. Nothing more exciting then getting that rush of the bass smashing the frogs or poppers. Enjoy all the tips you guys bring us!
I am an Argentine fisherman, I love your videos! I commented that here we use many frogs because we have a fish called Tararira that has a very tough bone structure with teeth, you can imagine that the frogs last two or three bites if it is well taken and captured in shallow waters and with vegetation. This type of modifications helped me a lot in my fishing style, thank you very much, it continues like this.
I have to say, without a doubt... Matt & Tim have upped my bass game hugely! I’ve poked fun in the past ( ego ), then, started actually listening to the FREE advice these guys offer. I put Matt’s summertime “shadow” theory to test yesterday at DVL, So Cal, ( desert lake, few shadows ),
Never tried before to boil a frog, i'll do it for sure! Kind of a super pro-tip! Keep doing quality contents like this, I really enjoy your practical approach! Greetings from Italy!
Matt, you are the man. Thanks for helping me remember some of the frog rigging tips that I had forgotten about. Maybe I can get some more hookups now. All hail Matt. All hail Matt.
Every time I open my comment field to ask for clarification on something it seems like it’s the very next thing you say, so I’m just going to comment anyway. Love the channel.
I throw a frog way too much. So much so that I'm quite weak with most other techniques. I just can't put it down. Those blow ups are worth catching less fish to me. Just a blast. hoping to become more well rounded this summer.
I just caught my first frog fish on Monday. Nice 4lber with the most vicious strike I’ve seen this year. M favorite it booyah pooopin frog. It walks really well for a pooper frog. I’m definitely gonna try the rattles this year. Something different that stands out.
Luke Wheeler I’ll check them out. I’ve caught a lot last year on the booyah poppin frog. I like how it walks very easily. I’ll check out the savage gear. On my lake I don’t think many people are walking the frog from side to side. They are more just bobbing it and the difference matterz
Following your tips by put some sinkers in the frog body make a whole new different....the snakehead is much more aggressive bitting my frog...thank Matt
New to bass fishing, just started throwing a frog. I am hooked on the blow up, but yet to get one on the line yet. Will try again this weekend. Thanks for the tips.
I like the bully wa ii for the same reason. For all the other ones I pull the hooks out, wrap some thread around the line tie to keep water out of the nose, wrap hooks shanks with braid making it one solid hook, then add red heat shrink around the braid past where they come through frog ( the the r2s frogs have ) and poke a hole between the legs.
Instead of shoving rattles and weights into the hole where the hook exits the frog, I take a razor blade and make a 1 centimeter cut in the top of the frog, put my weight(s) or rattle inside then heat up a case (butter) knife and seal the incision. Works great and you don't compromise the integrity of the hook exit hole.
I throw three pointed .177 lead pellets in my frogs, it adds a tiny amount of wait to make it cast easier and sit on mats a little better. Ridiculously cheap and extremely effective.
Free advise continued... 99% of the strikes, fish lost, and fish landed were in the tightest of of shadows! Amazing! I actually caught 3 times more bass than the professional guide on the the lake that day! Moral of my story... Humbled, listened, applied, & modified Matt & Tim’s lessons into my own style that has proven to work from high pressured reservoirs in California to Center Hill lake in Tennessee. Thank you both for your passion and knowledge.
Awesome video, love watching your guys vids helps me a lot on what to go buy and want to do to modify my baits. Could you guys start on what are some good summer baits and ways to fish them because some places I fish some of the fish are done with the spawn and post spawn
Another awesome way to catch a few extra is to hold it under water let it fill up or get an old non floating frog and walk it under water around sparse clumps of grass it works great for the bigger ones that may not want to hit top or if a fish misses the bait on top
A buddy just turned me on to your channel. Boy have I been missing out. Been bending out the hooks and trimming legs for years but never thought about adding weights, rattles and heat treating. Great job guys.
I like to use a sharpie to put little dots and shapes on the under side of the frog I think it helps break up the frog and make it more natural with out sacrificing visibility
First video I saw on my tacticalbassin binge watching and it is ironic because I stuck a pretty good one tonight ( breaking an almost 3 week fishless streak). I"ll have to try adding rattles as lately the water has been stained.
I swear I'm getting some serious Deja Vu from this video lol Also just want to add if you can't get the rattles locally BB's work pretty well as a substitute.
Have you tried the Stanford Baits Boom Boom Frog? Also, it'd be awesome if you guys did a frog video in heavy cover only! I'd love to see your tips/tactics.
Hmmm. What don't you like about it? I threw a couple of the colors during a couple sessions and had decent success. The Frogfur did start to peel away after a few fish, but superglue fixed it right up.
What about frogs that sink/take on water if they are new? I have a spittin wa that I haven't even caught a fish on yet and the thing just sinks. Would you just use super glue to button up all the holes except for the drain hole?
Hey I was wondering if you could help me at all. I’m fishing a lake that is really deep and clear and I keep having giant bass come up to the top of the water and just sitting there. I had one 6 or 7 pounder follow a 4.8 inch Kaitec in but never committed. I can’t seem to get them like this and I can’t get that many bites any other way because the lake has no structure so it’s tough to find where they are. Also I’m fishing from the bank so I can’t fish the middle. I got a 68 special rof 5 gizzard because this winter I saw big gizzard shad washing up on the bank (dying from the cold) I haven’t tried it yet but I was wondering if you could tell me where to fish with it since there isn’t any structure or weeds or if there is a lure that works for getting the bass at the top. Also f it helps top water hasn’t worked there for me and the bass sometimes go in groups of 3 circling the lake.
Can you do a video explaining Mag rods? I've heard some people say that they're slightly stronger* some say they're lighter*. I'd like to hear your guy's take on them. * referring to the backbone strength of the rod
Great video like always Matt. I have a question what speed reel do you recommend for frog fishing. I fish smaller ponds with alot of logs, brush, and lay down. I am looking at purchasing a 7:1:1 Is this a good one or do I need a faster one. Thanks!
All good tips but I would like to add a few comments.... The trailer hook will kill walking the dog action in open water.. On the King Daddy, I prefer to put lead inside it even if fishing open water. That thing floats to high in the water straight out of the package and you will miss a lot of strike because it's so buoyant. not because it's to big. The weight will not kill the walk the dog and I've added up to a half ounce. The King Daddy looks huge but it really don't "fish" that big
Is a extra heavy rod necessary, I run a medium heavy for most of my bass fishing. I'd like to try frogs out but I'm afraid I'll snap my rod running through the weeds.
You said "Open water is one of your favorite ways to fish a frog." I'm curious why to throw a frog in open water VS a popper or a spook? I generally just throw my frogs when I need top water but I'm in cover. Also, I see frog fishing as slow, meaning you don't catch bunches of bass. Should I expect a frog to deliver quantity or quality fish? When I'm out fishing, I consider a good day on the quantity of fish I catch, not necessarily quality. I'm not to the point where I care about huge bass, I like catching dinks so far :)
I’ve been watching a lot of big swimbait videos and I’m looking to get my first, ive been looking at the s waver but idk whether I should go with the 168 or 120 I mainly fish small lakes and big ponds but I’m still trying to find the biggest fish in them, any suggestions?

Thank you for the kind words! Matt and I appreciate it!
Top water is my favorite way to fish. Nothing more exciting then getting that rush of the bass smashing the frogs or poppers. Enjoy all the tips you guys bring us!
Matt, I've been bass fishing 40 years, and I STILL learn so much from the vids you and Tim present. Most informative UA-cam channel on the WWW.
I am an Argentine fisherman, I love your videos! these are so simple but I can attest to how much they work!!! great job brother
LOJO how aren’t u verified yet. Love ur vids
You guys never fail to lay down the facts! I think I have officially watched every video or close to. Thank you for everything you guys do!
Thanks for the support!
Great tips! Love the rattles & boiling tips 🐸

The split shot advice is literally going to be game changing! I am constantly missing bites in heavy cover because they struggle finding it properly!
That Underwater shot though....Another great video Matt and TB Crew!!

Can't wait for the summer and fish frog baits
Another sick video fellas!
Thanks Josh!

I just can't put it down. Those blow ups are worth catching less fish to me. Just a blast.
hoping to become more well rounded this summer.
We hear you! Its so much fun
I hear that start with a popper if there isn’t vegetation
Very interesting modifications. Great video! Will have to try them!
all the tips in this vid are going to save me this summer
Matt, your instructional videos are ++
July 2020 just got my first frog fish. I’m taking these tips to the water tomorrow! Thanks boss
Can't wait to go fishing with you guys next year I'm booking a trip soon, see u on the water guys
Heading up to Clear Lake and Berryessa in two wks looking for my first frog fish, thanks for the tips!
Simple and effective tips, thx Matt!

Jarred Monaco try a savage gear popping frog also. Walks easier than any popping frog I've thrown. Even walks better than most regular frogs
Luke Wheeler I’ll check them out. I’ve caught a lot last year on the booyah poppin frog. I like how it walks very easily. I’ll check out the savage gear. On my lake I don’t think many people are walking the frog from side to side. They are more just bobbing it and the difference matterz
Great video my man. Love the top water action!!!
Thanks for all of the tips .....

Best frog video ever.
New to bass fishing, just started throwing a frog. I am hooked on the blow up, but yet to get one on the line yet. Will try again this weekend. Thanks for the tips.
Great video Matt, awesome tips
Once again more game changing tips from the "MAN"! Genius!
LOL! Thanks Brian
Matt I Love you bro your such a good genuine person 🤙🏽 fish 🎣 life
Great video as always Matt
Great frog tips. I needed a reminder on adding split shot or rattles, seems like I have forgotten that trick,
I like the bully wa ii for the same reason. Love these style of videos
Great tips Matt 👍👊 love it!

Thank you for telling tips
Thanks for the tips. I just started 🐸 fishing on grass mats and along them from shore. Caught one so far. I will immediately try the split shot 💡.
Another great and informative video. Thanks
I throw three pointed .177 lead pellets in my frogs, it adds a tiny amount of wait to make it cast easier and sit on mats a little better. Ridiculously cheap and extremely effective.
I don’t think you understand the amount of hype when I hear “ hey guys Matt allen here, welcome back to tactical bassin! “
It is sad when I open one of their bids and it’s not Matt
Kevin Young. Personally I find Tim just as knowledgeable and presents his info just as palatable as Matt.
Richard Bossman I have absolutely nothing against him just like Matt’s delivery better
I like them both, but prefer Matt’s delivery by a c-hair.
Great tips! Love frog fishin
Free advise continued... 99% of the strikes, fish lost, and fish landed were in the tightest of of shadows! Amazing! Awesome video. You never mentioned if you use the 55 or 65? Thanks for the content, always learn so much!
As always great stuff!
Another awesome way to catch a few extra is to hold it under water let it fill up or get an old non floating frog and walk it under water around sparse clumps of grass it works great for the bigger ones that may not want to hit top or if a fish misses the bait on top

Wow, even Kermit the Frog would be impressed with these tips!! Good stuff, Matt!
LOL!
Great video.
Great! Matt, maybe you or Tim know? Will mend it repair tears in torn frogs?
First video I saw on my tacticalbassin binge watching and it is ironic because I stuck a pretty good one tonight ( breaking an almost 3 week fishless streak). I"ll have to try adding rattles as lately the water has been stained.
Good stuff thanks!
I never know about boiling frog to soften it. Tks for the tips
I like the boiling water idea. Gonna try it tonight and try not to get it mixed up with the spaghetti dinner.
LOL!
I swear I'm getting some serious Deja Vu from this video lol
Also just want to add if you can't get the rattles locally BB's work pretty well as a substitute.
Great video matt! Can you do a video on braided lines?
great tips. Thanks.
Thanks Thomas!
Have you tried the Stanford Baits Boom Boom Frog? Also, it'd be awesome if you guys did a frog video in heavy cover only! I'd love to see your tips/tactics.
CPRfisherman That things a POS!
Hmmm. What don't you like about it? I threw a couple of the colors during a couple sessions and had decent success. The Frogfur did start to peel away after a few fish, but superglue fixed it right up.
thank you
Awsome tips thanks for the help
Dude man you are telling on the tricks..... Thank you
Thanks Nick!
LOL You're welcome!

Great info once again! Thanks tacticalbassin
Just remember when boiling your frog to soften it to start with cold water. If you put the frog in boiling water he will jump out.😉
BLAHahahahahahahaha! I laughed way too hard on this one!
LaRueOBR556 hahahaha thx for the tip😉
All seriousness. How long do you boil it for
What's your guys thought on the R2S Ish's fat mat daddy frog?? Little bigger profile and has an optional rattle, but basically the bully WA2.
Thanks bro helps man
I put in one or two splishots depending on size and I use beads from the hobby store.

Can you review the st. Croix legend bass crankbait rod
You guys rule
Matt what are some tactics for fishing submerged vegitation. All my lakes have it almost to the surface.
Can you do a video explaining Mag rods? I've heard some people say that they're slightly stronger* some say they're lighter*. I'd like to hear your guy's take on them.
* referring to the backbone strength of the rod
Legit stuff, thanks.
Got the Dobyns Fury 735 for this exact technique 👌Matt, do you ever frog with a soft plastic option like a power bait kicker frog?
Jon Hillen or zoom horny toads
Horny Toads, Rage Frogs, Sizmic Toads, Ribbits, etc. are all great, but they’re a different deal. Closer to buzzbait fishing than frogs.
Yes they do, last years frog tips ua-cam.com/video/W5CwH9WIANU/v-deo.html
Anyone try a megabass big Gavot? Or a koppers live target frog?
Great video like always Matt. I have a question what speed reel do you recommend for frog fishing. I fish smaller ponds with alot of logs, brush, and lay down. I am looking at purchasing a 7:1:1 Is this a good one or do I need a faster one. Thanks!
What do you do for short strikes? Also how do you feel about the Booyah toad runner?
Any tips on how to bend them king daddy hooks?
All good tips but I would like to add a few comments.... The trailer hook will kill walking the dog action in open water.. On the King Daddy, I prefer to put lead inside it even if fishing open water. That thing floats to high in the water straight out of the package and you will miss a lot of strike because it's so buoyant. not because it's to big. The weight will not kill the walk the dog and I've added up to a half ounce. The King Daddy looks huge but it really don't "fish" that big
how much does that trailer hook really increase the hook up ratio by? Does it really make huge difference?
How do you decide between using white or black? Arnt they kind of showing up the same underwater?
in clear or lightly stained water, use white. In murky water or when fishing at night, use black.
Hey guys. You recommend the Curado K HG over the XG? Why?
HG. The XG is great but you lose torque with the higher gear ratios.
Any tips for getting good at bait caster
What is does mag heavy mean on a rod? Only my second season bass fishing and haven’t heard or seen to many people using it.
Is a extra heavy rod necessary, I run a medium heavy for most of my bass fishing. I'd like to try frogs out but I'm afraid I'll snap my rod running through the weeds.
Hi! What gloves are you using here?
What color Bully Wa has the chartreuse belly? It’s hard to see the belly on Tackle Warehouse
How long would you boil the frogs for? (First time asking such a question lmao)
You said "Open water is one of your favorite ways to fish a frog." I'm curious why to throw a frog in open water VS a popper or a spook? I generally just throw my frogs when I need top water but I'm in cover.

Definitely the 168. It sinks slower and has better action
TacticalBassin thanks, I forgot to mention, I have a 7 ft med hvy that’s lure weight eating goes up to 1 1/2 oz will that be alright?
how long should i boil this frog for
What do you use for a fish scale
This is the best we have found! bit.ly/2f7QgQ9
Best advice ever - don’t cook in the same pot you boil your frogs in! Thanks Matt.
Looks like your complexion is clearing up, less red. Home your doing alright.
does a swivel impede walking a frog ??
