Especially since he film most of the times by himself, he's even better than most hired youtube videographers. Maxx is killing it, he should have over 1 mil subs, asap.
i did cross country and track in high school. We would increase weekly miles over the season but always stagger distances throughout the week. Even if you're not going for time per distance (i.e race) the stamina built from that can benefit in distance. So example week: Monday: long easy 6-8 mile run Tuesday: Speed work on track (sprints) Wednesday: Long run to recovery from speed work- 45-60 minutes- basically jog out for 20-30 minutes then come back. Thursday: Distance speedwork such as a fauklet run ((run a mile, but every 200-300m, sprint all out for 50-100m, then back to normal pace (race pace so moderately fast).. or a tempo run (5 min jog, 5 min run, 5 min jog), mile repeats- run a mile for a race pace, break for 10-15min, then again- 3-4x) Friday: easy 3-4 mile run Saturday: easy jog for like 30 minutes at two different times of the day. Sunday: Off But start off with low mileage or time, depending on what tool you're using, then increase either one week by week, then cap it off and increase the speed and start over on distance. similar to powerlifting
I used to be a long distance runner :) so for beginners, I would advise you to rather run slow but longer if you want to improve your endurance. another tip is to run for e.g. 5 minutes, then walk for 1 or 2 minutes until you feel a tiny bit recovered but are still warm, then run for 5 minutes again ... and then always increase the time you run and decrease the time that you walk :) and I personally run best on an empty stomach in the morning because stomach won't bother you and you don't have to go peeeee in between ;) #justgirlsthings
And, to running.....I used to run 13 miles. I loved to run down at the Greenway in Roanoke, VA either early in the morning or later in the evening. I find that is best. For me, anyway. And, I did not start at 13 miles....I started walking, then running 1/10 of a mile and then walking 1/10 of a mile...took about one year to get to 13 miles. So, you know the saying....the journey of 1,000 steps starts with that first step. Just make sure that you stay hydrated. It is super humid where you are (NOVA.....SWVA is pretty much the same as DC). That was a problem for me when I got to the five or six mile mark. Everyone will be a little bit different. And, Mr. Spud, I was 45 at that time....so if this old man can do it, then I know that you can (and, yes - I was lifting as well). Go get it, Maxx! Go get it!
I live in Alabama where it is extremely hot & humid in the summers. I find it is best to run quite early (6-7 AM) or later (6-7 PM). Try to not eat anything at least 2-3 hours before the run to avoid any stomach issues, especially once you increase in distance. I also try to get in at least 32oz of water an hour or so before each run. If you start running further while it is still hot, incorporate a water stop/station around 6 miles or so. Enjoy, you’ll be hooked on runners high soon!
That intro though!! Also can appreciate a guy that looks after himself. Investing in skincare is never a waste of money. Your skin will thank you for it down the track.
With regard to running Maxx, heres a few very simple tips: 1: Run slow, you will want to run fast to begin with but you need to really slow that down and focus on building the endurance and mileage in your legs. Once things become a little easier, increase the mileage and the further along, work on your pace. 2: Get a pair of running trainers that fit and cater to your gait. 3: I tend to run with no music and instead focus on my breathy, pace and so forth. If I have a longer run planned, I may listen to podcasts, they make runs zip by. 4: Listen to your body, you can run tired - of course, but be aware of the pains you are getting. As a beginner, dont go balls deep and run every day, it MAY lead to injury. Small steps to consistent, sustained progress. I used to be a in to my strength training but running gives me more. Mentally it cleanses and physically it offers tangible benefits. Enjoy!
My aunt works at Kiehls. I get a lot of their product for free from her. I have to say that my face cleared up almost completely with the daily face wash and moisturizer. Before I used to have quite bad acne and I tried other products and brands with minimal results.
Maxx, sorry for the unsolicited advice, but I highly recommend trying adapalene (Differin Gel). Works much better than benzoyl p or salicylic acid for my skin, and I think we have similar complexion. Seriously, it changed the game for me (I always had mild adult acne).
I've been watching your vids everyday as my motivation for gym and life. You've legit help me break through my depression and given me some hope. For real dude, appreciate what you do.
Honestly the reason i watch you is because your down to earth, you crack jokes, your fun to watch, you laugh at yourself and others, always moving ever forward on your sick edits duuuud, and mainly your not like these other youtubers or people who kinda feel themselves too much. You continue to show your life good or bad, and consistently improve on building your business, life, and still remain the same with turning into these douches all over youtube with a big right hand because they feel themselves too much. Lol Cool video today duuuuuudd. Cant wait for the next one.
Former Cross Country runner here; just some things to think about to prevent injury! -strike/land midfoot -think about driving w/ the knees so you actually pick up your feet and don't just drag them along -active posture (chest out, shoulders back, arms swing ear to hip) -controlled breathing and enjoy the views
Raymond querido AKA The online coach recently started a running program. Maybe you would like that too! He used to hate running but he says that he's slowly liking it
Maxx running tips: try to land on your forefoot over your heal, get good shoes (Nike Pegasus, energy or ultra boosts, Brooks ghosts), summer is coming to an end but if it's gonna be over like 75 degrees run before 10am or after 6pm, lastly for pace just Auto regulate for how fast you go (ps bonus runs up hills for fitness)
I am genuinely impressed by every single one of your videos, but this intro in particular was SO FREAKING SICK DUDEEEEEE! One of the best youtubers in the game no doubt
Just to add to all the other professional running coachs comments on here - - - Get. Running. Shoes. Saucony kinvara is a good one once you have been running a bit. Just long, slow runs will do. Conversation pace and up to 3-2 in-out pattern. Keep up with the running dude. Check vo2 max for tips.
Absolutely killed this video. I can appreciate that you content create, shoot, and edit all of your videos. That to me is what doing UA-cam is all about. Awesome work man. Keep it up.
Run less tightly. Make sure to static stretch your legs like a mile in or so to loosen up. Run slightly angled forward. The more vertical your body the less aerodynamic you are. And the best time to run would be early in the morning fasted (in my opinion) or late in the evening. Run at 2, which is what I do for XC, is awful. People always end up throwing up. Plus running with someone is always better than running alone. Good luck and happy trails👍🏃
1: definitely run in the morning :) 2. Sign up for a 5K to push yourself 3. don't pressure yourself....just go out and everything will get easier 4.make sure your shoes fit the places you are running...don't get injured by having the wrong shoes I am training for NYCmarathon and I am thrilled that you are running now!!
Form is really just how your body naturally moves. Ideally try not to bounce too much to minimize stress on joints. As far as endurance, your legs are strong enough it's just about increasing cardiovascular strength (breath dood). After a couple weeks this shoots up pretty quickly.
Maxx, I lift weights like you 6 days a week. Just recently started prepping for a half marathon on Sept 22nd as a bucket list item. Found some good 10 week programs out there. Progression weekly in distance and find a pace that you keep your breathing. I run a sub 6 min mile, but for 8+ mile distance I've found right around 845 pace I can still talk and finish strong. Just like lifting, find your groove.
1) that intro 😍 2) that SRT 😍 3) Have you ever ran an obstacle race? (Tough Mudder, Spartan Race.... etc?) the reason I ask is bc I get bored running on its own but enjoyed those races.
Since you ask for some running advice :D I have been running long distance for 8 years and liftning weights for six, I am currently running my third marathon next month, my best tip for beginner runners is to not care about the time, instead try to progress in the length of which you run without having to take unnecessary breaks. When you get used to a certen route you probably will learn to adapt to how fast you can run and under which part of the route you can handle certen pace, best of luck Maxx! :) Sorry for the bad spelling :P
Best tip I can give you as a marathon runner myself, is run, and run consistently, for long durations. As a new runner, keep the pace low and mileage high. What I'd reccommend is around 30-40 miles a week/5-6 days and work your way up week to week. After around 3 weeks I would say youll be in okay enough shape to increase the pace/run intervals. Goodluck tho running becomes enjoyable, for me now its almost a way to just get unstressed and get away from the world for an hour.
hey max i did some running my in the past and im starting to pick it up again. i myself ran the 100 m dash and the 200 m dash and some tips that i would give you on those and just jogging in general would be to lengthen your stride a little more and try to get that heel to toe action. but over all your arms when jogging look good.. hope this helps and good luck on your inprovments
Kiehl's is good but there is a new brand called ''RUGGED AND DAPPER''! A bit more natural and a fair bit cheaper. They offer you a free sample kit which helps you decide what you like and what you don't. Bare in mind I use to have really bad spots and still have sensitive skin 👍
to set up a shot, shoot the shot, then continue running to set up other shots takes alot, thats dedication hahaha, i can say you put alot of effort into your content, you keep a persons attention from start to finish
Keep up the running as cardio!! Good thinking easing yourself into it, it can be really demanding on the joints. Take your time increasing speed/distance!
I would recommend you to run in the morning, so that's the first thing you will do. If you have time. Do not eat anything before you go out. Drink a glass of water and that's it. After your morning run you should eat protein and finer oatmeal so you get up your energy. As an track and field athlete I recommend you this, it's what I do. I by the way like all of you videos, you are so hilarious dude! ;)
Go get fitted for a running shoe! It will help make running so much easier, even in the beginning... worth the investment! I also started running slower and pushing myself further in distance every time. And you have to find the best running environment for yourself...I hate running on the street so the most I’ll ever want to run is around 2/3 miles. But if I run in the trails by my house I will easily pull off double or triple. Good luck 🥔
I really digged and appreciated the intro of your video. I mean theyre usually all good but the footage and angles and shit was dope. Keep doin yo thang 😅😊
Bro gotta say I’ve been watching joes vlogs and Christians vlogs for a long time but never really clicked on yours and then one day I did and damn you make me laugh your edits are top notch and your very up beat ! After watching a few I subscribed and you became one of my top 5 vlogs to watch on UA-cam! All your hard work is noticed and appreciated thanks again !
Maxx my man , you’re the best in the game . Your vids are always terrific . Both in cinematography ( nice word Norm ) and editing . The content is fantastic and you , well your Maxx Chewning , brilliant , honest , hardworking guy . Try some hills on your run . More cardio , less distance which also builds endurance . Loved this vid mate . Norm.
Its cool you’re running, it’s healthy as hell for you and you might find it helps your calves. Wear sunscreen though. On your arms and face especially if you don’t want wrinkles.
i LOVE your videos! and thankyou for all the Hard work you put into it! i appreciate your work ethic!! I know for a fact everyone would love some tuts on how you do your amazing transitions or your thought process behind it
The best way I can recommend to get better running form is do some Hill sprints aprox 10-20 seconds and focus on good form I.e fast leg turnover and upright body. Hope this helps man
Been following your insta for a while but first time I checked your UA-cam; is fckin amazing. Your montages and editing out every other fitness UA-camr to shame.
Just like what you said about the gear for UA-cams, that’s what you need to remember about running. You don’t need to know what time to go, or your form (just kidding that’s kind of important, maybe have your gait checked) or any of the fancy gear.... just get out and do it and do it often and it’ll get easier and better.
Yo dood! Loving the extra info on your lifestyle stuff like your moisturisers etc! Just wondering, can you explain your thoughts or even do a trial on stuff like ATP Prototype 8, or ATP Subcut? OR any sort of thing you would rub on you before a workout?
You shouldn’t increase your distance to fast, could increase the chance of injuries! Also make goals for yourself, like a distance or a time for a distance! Best times are different for everyone, I like morning or evening. Go for it
The best time to run would be in the morning, because it won’t upset your digestive system compared to running in the evening or night because then you would need to allow time for food to digest, but it all depends on the individual and how they feel on the day, I prefer running in the morning it gives me energy throughout the day and gives me a positive mindset for the day ahead
Yeah okay... intro is sick 👌🏼😅
The God has blessed me
Get a room
SuRT vs AMG has to happen
Intro song??
I appreciate the amount of effort Maxx puts into his videos! They are always on point. 👏🏼
I insist Maxx has the best angles/edits in the game. He deserves wayy more appreciation! #potatofam
Especially since he film most of the times by himself, he's even better than most hired youtube videographers. Maxx is killing it, he should have over 1 mil subs, asap.
Yeah cause he doesn’t have anything else going for himself.... haha jk good job potato
Joe kills it as well
Best youtuber and Im not just talking about the fitness youtubers

kyramh1 how many minutes of run/rest for an expert?
I disagree I think timing yourself and trying to beat that time is the best way to improve not taking rest
Guys also pee.

SO MUCH APPRECIATION FOR THE SICK EDITS ALWAYS
I had to pause the video after the intro and say WOW! The cinematography and music selection was phenomenal. Max your a GOD!

I LOVE YOU MAXX CHEWNING. NO HOMO. Was watching you edit the intro for 2hrs on twitch, them cinematic black bars lit af.
100% right about the content > the expensive gear. Great vid as always Potato.

Lol the ‘you vs the guy she told you not to worry about’ bit was excellent 👌
this was one of my favourite videos you have done Maxx! the effort you put in really shows. had the perfect balance of everything!
The Jesse angles at 1:13 . That guys creativity is on another level.
1) that intro 😍
2) that SRT 😍
3) Have you ever ran an obstacle race? (Tough Mudder, Spartan Race.... etc?) the reason I ask is bc I get bored running on its own but enjoyed those races.
Watch his video, 'Powerlifter VS Bodybuilder - The Obstacle Course'
mets185 oh shit, that was good! Good looking out man!
I really appreciate all the hard work you put into these videos max.
So much appreciation for the SICK EDITS! and of course much love for this Channel!! You've made weird the new normal
Intervals are a great way to improve your running! Exsample six 400m Runs with 2 minutes rest between runs

My favorite thing about vloggers is watching them vlog in public and watching the people in the background react. It never stops being funny to me.
creativity in the intro is amazing
continuously amazed at how much better the sick angles keep getting
Your editing and filming skills are off the chart
love how the effect worked with the music
The music at the beginning of the video is very resident evil-esque! just need some zombies walking around haha
Those lane changes are so sweet duuuuuuuude!
Maxx, I appreciate all the time and effort you put into giving us these quality videos. Thank you!
how can we not be impressed by those sick angles, dude?! always amazing!
Sick edits man, took me 3mins to finish the intro lol. That transition with the door almost had me fooled at first. Awesomeness
You can have your own tv show. Your videos and edits are sick bro.
Damn Maxx. Lol. That first 1:20 is amazing! 🔥🔥
to set up a shot, shoot the shot, then continue running to set up other shots takes alot, thats dedication hahaha, i can say you put alot of effort into your content, you keep a persons attention from start to finish
Literally love the content you create and the angles are sickkkk
The pet at the end when his phone kept going off, he reminded me of that Doberman pinched dog from the movie up every time he was like SQUIRREL!! Lol
Keep up the running as cardio!! Good thinking easing yourself into it, it can be really demanding on the joints. Take your time increasing speed/distance!
There is still nothing that’s beats a good ol potato maxx edit and video. Keep it up man🔥
I would recommend you to run in the morning, so that's the first thing you will do. If you have time. Do not eat anything before you go out. Drink a glass of water and that's it. After your morning run you should eat protein and finer oatmeal so you get up your energy. As an track and field athlete I recommend you this, it's what I do. I by the way like all of you videos, you are so hilarious dude! ;)
intro was incredible!! thanks for spending so much time on that lol
Let’s see a potato half marathon!! There’s one in Roanoke, VA your home town November 17.
Oh my gosh Max that edit was so sick dood...it was 💯
Go get fitted for a running shoe! Good luck 🥔
This intro is amazing. You have a real talent!!!
Maxx keeps raising the bar....loved it.
I really digged and appreciated the intro of your video. I mean theyre usually all good but the footage and angles and shit was dope. Keep doin yo thang 😅😊
Showing some appreciation for that sick intro dude! 👏🏼
It’s all about the attention to details
I would like to see a video on how you plan your edits, the thought process and how you put them together in Premiere. Do it.
Bro gotta say I’ve been watching joes vlogs and Christians vlogs for a long time but never really clicked on yours and then one day I did and damn you make me laugh your edits are top notch and your very up beat ! So much work went into making this video
Norm.
I would reccomend running first thing in the morning. It sucks but not having a bunch of food in your stomach makes a huge difference in how you feel.
Hope this helps man
MAXX - the music in your past few videos has been AMAZING! Where did you get these tracks from? - Epic edits as always!
Soundcloud!
Been following your insta for a while but first time I checked your UA-cam; is fckin amazing. Your montages and editing out every other fitness UA-camr to shame.
Welcome mate
Maxx, your camera game is so fucking sick
that intro was trippy... sick edits per usual, man
Max man bulk hard this winter and get that 315lbs bench!!!!
Wow you must have like 20 go pros for all these sick angles.

You sir have outdone yourself.
The edits in this video were some of the best I’ve ever SEEN🤯
His editing skills are over 9000! 👌💕
Maxx coming through with them sick edits!!

Just like what you said about the gear for UA-cams, that’s what you need to remember about running. Yo dood! Loving the extra info on your lifestyle stuff like your moisturisers etc!
Just wondering, can you explain your thoughts or even do a trial on stuff like ATP Prototype 8, or ATP Subcut? OR any sort of thing you would rub on you before a workout?
You should call this episode “Maxx Knows Tech” it has a ring to it
You shouldn’t increase your distance to fast, could increase the chance of injuries! Also make goals for yourself, like a distance or a time for a distance! Best times are different for everyone, I like morning or evening. Go for it
Living life faster could be dangerous also! I think Maxx's gonna risk it! #notRocketScience
