Agreed! a lot of ppl I know think I'm strange b/c I spend time alone with my thoughts: no form of media whatsoever when I do. Complete silence. I also read consistently, and when I do, I also play no music in the background so I can focus on the material I'm reading.
If you’re bored, clean. Growing up I remember I had numerous times I would tell my mom or dad that I’d be bored and their response was always the same. They would say, “start cleaning”. I always hoped they would say “okay we’ll go to the movies” or “we’re going out to eat” or just some fun activity but no. They would tell me to clean my room, or clean the living room, or the bathroom, or clean the yard, or wash the cars, etc. At the time I hated it. Now I understand. Cleaning alleviates boredom but theres more to it than that. I always get the feeling of accomplishment whenever I clean. It’s a different kind of feeling and it’s better than getting high or playing videogames or watching Netflix or blowing a load. Clean and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Side note: if you’re feeling an urge coming whether you want to take a drink or smoke weed or bust a nut, or whatever your struggling with cleaning is almost always going to get rid of the urges. Not only are you cleaning your room but you’re cleaning your mind in a sense. Hope it helps.
I have a similar observation that whenever I feel bad, I intuitively like cleaning. It feels accomplishing but even more, it's almost meditative. You are doing something that takes little to no brainpower but you still need to focus to do it properly. In a sense it's a way to turn off your brain but still not be bored and afterwards u get to feel good by doing that
haha I got you broh, my mom told me the same when I was a kid, and she said it quite often, I am glad I was not born in recent times, now kids are given phones every time they are bored or bothering their parents. But I never saw cleaning as you discribe it, I'll give it a try. I dont have a huge problem with phones anyways, because I can't use it waiting the bus or in the bus because where I live there is a very reasonable chance that they will steal it from me, even in a longgg ass trip I stare at the window or find someone to talk. And I think that's the solution for boredom and overstimulation of the brain, get off your phone and find someone to talk, if you are shy its an amazing way to defeat shyness, just talking with random peapole, you'll often find someone just as bored as you that loves talking and that will help you tons with shyness. It certenly helped me.

It helped me a lot. It is unbelievable that the vast majority of people destroy themselves every day sitting on the phone and watching tik toks. personally i’d say music provides unnecessary stimuli you don’t need. cutting music out would defo further you in the reset in your dopamine receptors. (imo)
